“See marine mammals from the battlements”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

You would have to have to have a specific interest in the military to thoroughly enjoy the displays. But because of the way information is presented (headphones and buttons rather than a guided tour) you gan go as quickly as you want. We only came however because of it's location. At the narrowest point in the Moray Firth, it's possible to see seals and dolphins. We only saw a seal but some weeks later it was in the news that a pod of killer whales came right up to the shore next to it.

“Stunning views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

I have visited Fort George several times and have never been disappointed. The views are just to die for! Watching the dolphins leaping around in the water over at Channory Point fills in a good half hour. I could easily spend the whole day walking around there, the museum is filled with some very interesting things. The medals and pictures seem endless. It's a great place for kids as they can climb on the canons and watch the soldiers doing drills. The gift shop and cafe are a little on the pricy side- places like this always are! As this is a working barracks there is always plenty going on. If you want a good day out, Fort George is definitely worth a visit!

“Super afternoon - something for all the family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

We took a trip here thinking it would fill an hour! After about 4 hours we had explored and enjoyed this working fort. The audio tour is good and explains everything without making it boring or complicated and makes it very interactive. We spent time in the museum which was very moving but also fun as you can try on various military hats and outfits. Coffee stop in the cafe kept us going and we also had a small show put on telling us about the life of a soldier in days gone by. Well worth the money to visit this historic attraction.

“Good museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

The Highlander's Museum is located in Fort George, which is worth the visit in itself. The museum documents the history of the Highlander's regiment and its predecessors with much eye for detail and attention for the special character of the Highland soldiers. Lots to see and read, which might be a bit not-so-thrilling for children.
