“Lovely Summer Holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

My family and I stayed at Neptune Pwani Beach over Xmas 2013, and had a great relaxing stay. we had a problem with our Aircon, which was later replaced as apposed to servicing it, the housekeeping was of a superb standard, the proximity to the sea was awesome, BUT, be careful of the sea urchens. the food is typical of the Club Med resorts, plentyful, but of a bulk nature. the pools were wonderfully refreshing, and always clean!!!!!!!! the one downside is the harrasment from the vendors on the beach who battle to accept no for an answer, and we landed up having some stern words with a few. the service from all the staff was great and attentive. a good stay all round

Room Tip: All are sea facing, however, some are up the hill, which is a grind to get back to. ask for ones on...

We spent a week here early in December. Very relaxing, very well maintained resort, security was excellent, the staff extremely helpful.

Food was fine, everything "buffet style" except the lunch (snack) menu - which I would rotate - it was the same small menu every day, it would be better to change the type of sandwiches / burgers / salad daily (have a different menu for each day of the week)?
Only two problems - the bed was extremely hard, as were the pillows - next time I'm going to take my own pillows, and the guys who came to spray the room (against mosquitos) at about 9:00 pm, just walked straight in, a little embarrassing if you were already in bed - they need to learn to knock! (We learnt to put the "do not disturb" sign up...).

I would recommend this resort for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday, your drinks literally get delivered to you whilst you are reclining on the sand!

What a pleasure to be back and to be welcome as friends. We spent 2 weeks there and had a great time with all the staff, Sabri, Anna, Rajab, Raphael, Mary, Majeba, David; The grounds are still looked after so well. Eva and her colleagues at the front desk are just great; as we are coming every year, they even gave us the same rooms as usual, thank you dear friends.

What else to say ? apart repeating my previous reviews on the Neptune.

The boutique has gone crazy again with its prices (last year 2 Australian women were running it and the prices were realistic and affordable). This year with the change of management, the prices are out of order, this is a shame.

As for the German Chef who spent 15 years in South Africa, the food is not as good as it used to be, but still fine (he has been at the Neptune for the past 2 years). Previously it was an Austrian Chef and I must admit the food was better.

This year, we flew from Dar to Zanzibar with Zanair. They are a lot more reliable than Precision and very friendly.

We love this place so much than we cannot wait to go back next year to this paradise.

Thank you to all our friends there making our stay unforgettable.

A wonderul resort with all the facilities in the room and common areas well maintained and clean. The gardens are beautiful, especially in the cooler evenings.
We enjoyed a spa treatment which was very professional. The highlight was sitting in the jacuzzi overlooking the resort with the trees and beaches in view, but still private.
The beach can become overrun with hawkers but they are not allowed on the hotel property and this is well controlled. You can enjoy the beach all to yourself if you get down there early.
All in all a fantastic getaway.

The rooms are big and beautifully decorated with African style.
The personnel is smiling and helpful.
Everything (rooms, restaurant, pool, beach area) is very clean.
The pool and beach areas are very nice.
I would just have 3 small negative points:
1- The “beach boys”, who are actually peddlers/merchants, are nice but annoying. They are not allowed on the hotel premises (security guards are taking care of this). But it is difficult to avoid them when you are going for a swim or coming back from the sea. And they are shouting in order to get your attention when you are relaxing on the beach… Not sure anybody can do anything about this (locals are poor)…
2- The rooms are beautiful but sometimes at the expense of the comfort: beds, chairs and seats are hard (same for the sunbeds on the beach)
3- The evening animation is loud if your room is in the wrong area. And, on Friday night, the music lasted until 3 am! And this, I am sure, was heard in the whole resort because it was really loud 
Nonetheless, I do recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Away from evening animation.

We went out of season in 2012 so the hotel was very quiet, which was fine with us.

We had a great stay - food is very good, rooms are great, pools are magnificent. The beach has a large tidal range so at low tide it is about 1 km out. Nungwi has better beaches but I preferred this hotel overall to the one I stayed at in Nungwi.

A really beautiful resort, in a stunning setting. You won't be disappointed. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are all air conditioned, but the restaurant area isn't. We didn't mind this at all because you get used to the heat quite quickly, but it may be a consideration for some people. The wifi is a bit unpredictable, but you are there to relax so this didn't matter much to us either. The rooms are sprayed every evening with mosquito repellant and all the beds have mosquito nets. The all inclusive option is great- there is a very wide variety of food and drinks available all the time. There is also a travel office on site to assist with any day tours. Our tours were all very well organised and I would highly recommend paying them a visit.

Best parts:
Swim up bar in the pool.
Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff.
Delicious food.
Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms.
Beautiful setting.
Great cocktails.
Day tour office on site.

Only negatives:
The bathrooms are not very private which can be a bit awkward if you are not there in a couple.
Make sure to get one of the front rooms as the back rooms are quite a walk from the beach and restaurant.
There are people trying to sell you stuff whenever you go for a walk on the beach, and they don't take no for an answer. The hotel's security makes sure they don't bother you until you step off the hotel property, but them constantly being there can get annoying.

The negatives are very easily overlooked and we would go back there in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Try to get a room close to the pool as the back rooms are quite a far walk.
