Pretty nice and clean place, one of the best beach I have ever seen. It's much more for older people or people into a beach combing but anyway I enjoed it a lot! If you like to snorkel it's possible to buy a everyday trip to the reef. Must see

First the good points. Spacious rooms and balconies, large and lovely pool, very well maintained grounds, plenty of shade by the beach, pleasant bar and restaurant, nice cocktails, good food, lovely spa, friendly staff.

However, we found the room dark and the lighting inadequate for reading – though they did bring us an extra lamp when asked. The beds are hard, the furniture is impractical, there was nowhere comfortable to sit – in fact we didn’t find a comfortable chair in the whole place except in the spa. The bathroom is divided from the room by louvred panels so privacy is limited. Finding the mosquito nets in place and curtains drawn at 3pm was irritating.

The sea view rooms have superb views but there are 50 steps up to start with and up to 20 more to some rooms. We had paid extra for a sea side room which avoids the steps and is nearer the pool, bar and restaurants. Disappointingly, as the hotel was clearly not full, we were given a ground floor room with a dull view of the next block and a bit of the pool (no ocean view). Unless you are very lucky it isn’t worth the extra for a sea side room unless you have a problem with steps. With hindsight we would not have paid the extra, particularly as we had requested a quiet room but could still hear the music late at night.

The music is an intrusion – loud and pop, it starts about 7.30pm every evening and the stage is just by the main bar and restaurants so there’s no getting away from it. There was no attempt to tailor the music or entertainment to the age group or type of clientele. People appeared to be ignoring it rather than enjoying it. If you want a really quiet sea side room it needs to be in the upper 400s.

The Pizzeria is disappointing. You get one free visit during your stay and you have to book 24 hours ahead. The pizzas were good but the menu is very limited compared with the main restaurant. There were only 8 people the night we went so there was no atmosphere and the service was slow and formal – a pizzeria should be lively and informal. The rest of the time the place is the Snack Bar. We tried it once for lunch but waited 40 minutes for the food to arrive, so stuck to the main restaurant for a quicker lunch and better choice.

We didn’t try the a la carte restaurant which is above the main restaurant. It wasn’t worth paying $150-170 for two to be assailed by the same music. The only criticisms of the main restaurant are that the nicest and quietest section is the smoking area, and the choice for vegetarians is limited.

All inclusive is brilliant for families with kids but unless you want drinks all day and too much food, a dinner bed and breakfast rate at a 5* hotel might not cost more.

NB Zanzibar is extremely hot and humid in February.

Room Tip: Rooms to the left of the reception area are furthest from the music - probably 450 up. One of suite...

We spent a week at Neptune after a spur of the moment decision that we needed a breakaway far far away and what a great decision we made to go there!

The resort as a fully inclusive package certainly lives up to its promise. The food at breakfast, lunch and dinner was delicious everyday (my tighter waistbands are evidence of this). The service by all staff was friendly and impeccable all the time. The ambience of the resort is one of relaxation and just generally a tropical paradise.

The rooms were well furnished and spacious with a much needed aircon. The beach was a few meters away so days were literally spent swimming in the warm Indian ocean followed by cocktails in the pool at the pool bar.

We went on excursions but memorably the ocean safari was a great day out with good snorkelling and great hosting and food.

I would def recommend this resort to everyone looking for sublime relaxation in a beautiful setting.

This is a wonderful package, with low prices. Package includes return airfare and b/fast, lunch and supper(buffet) and you can enjoy light meals at the pool bar all day long. All local drinks are inclusive, so, if you want something stronger, buy it at the Airport before leaving at the no duty store. If you are a smoker, buy enough before you leave and put it in your baggage. For the price you pay you get real good value for money. (You cannot have a holiday in Cape Town for 4 days for this price) The trip from Stone Town to the hotel is very interesting and you learn allot. It is a very poor Island, and because of this the staff can be trusted. They are friendly and speak Swahili. My son learnt to speak the basics in 3 days. You arrive at the hotel, get checked in and are sent to lunch. After lunch you can go to you unit off which all faces the sea, to unpack and get into your swim ware. The rooms are air-conditioned and spacious with a huge bathroom. It is really comfortable, clean and serviced twice a day and has TV.(Not that you need it) There is a bar fridge which is kept full at all times (coke and other bottled drinks and bottled water as tap water is not save to drink) This hotel is save for any ages and are kept very well. There is a spa and Jacuzzi for those that need pampering. This was absolutely fantastic and relaxing. They do have entertainment at night. The beach is white and clean. You can walk for miles on end on the beach or into the sea. The most beautiful fish and shell fish can be seen without having to scuba dive. Because the seas and is very fine (corral) you can walk on it even if it is 40 degree's, your feet will not burn. Sunset is something to die for. The hotel staff, on arrival will tell you not to buy from the people on the beach, but you can they are cheaper. If you are cleaver you will pay them the smallest amount of their currency to take you into the sea and show you all the sea live. They know their beaches. Sometimes the people selling stuff on the beach can get a handful but if you tell them to leave you they will. They are not allowed in the hotel premises, so they cannot pester you there. They are friendly. This as mentioned before, is a poor country and they make their living on the beach and in the ocean. The grow sea grass very close to the shore, pick and dry it on the beach and sell it to the Japanese to make sunglasses. Things that was very special for me was to wake up in the morning with the sound of the sea, so peaceful, and they knowing off not cleaning up or ironing or cooking for the next 7 days. Jippy. You can take daily trips around the island. This island is not very big and you can see quite a bit in a day. This hotel caters for any function. I got married there and they absolutely treated me for the day and have u spend the night in the honeymoon suite, which was heaven. For the family this is a great place to be and take along your friends because they will enjoy it as much as you. If you are a loner this is the perfect place to be. Please don’t forget, a pair of sunglasses, at hat and lotion for the sun and corral shoes. All you need is a passport and a yellowfeaver injection which lasts for 10 years, so if you want to go back for another vacation you can do so, and off course your booking.
This is a must go and you will only be sorry if you miss this. The best time is September through to February. No need for jackets and jerseys, just something light. Lots of shorts and t-shirts and something casual smart for the restaurant. (b/fast, lunch and dinner) as you are not to go and eat with swim ware. Golf shirts and shorts for men and ladies, not necessary for smart ware.

Room Tip: The rooms are all nice, but the duplexes is the best. The top floor because the extra hight gives a...

When we planned our trip to Zanzibar we choose this hotel out of 4 recommended by our Travel Agent simply from the good reviews on TA.
I must say we were not disappointed with our choice, it lived up to expectations apart from a few odd tweaks here and their to suit our taste.

I think the major tip from the TA reviewers was on how to choose your room.
If you want a sea view room, you will have a fantastic location looking over the whole resort with the ocean in the background BUT-
Expect a walk up and down a lot of steps which you would have to take every time you want to get anywhere (pools, restaurants, bars, reception and the beach) apart from the Spa.
Noise will still carry from the main evenings entertainment which is outside, so don't think you are away from it all.

We chose a room that they list as a Seaside location that was in the middle of the resort about 100m from the beach. We were very pleased with our choice.

We had an all exclusive package, the only things we were not to happy with were-

1/ we missed decent coffee and tea. The water was very salty, so hot drinks did not taste good.
For a coffee producing country I am sure they could find a slightly better coffee than on offer?

2/ The cheap local alcohol in our package was terrible, I would not have used the wine for cooking let alone drinking.
I would have rather paid extra and drank cheap table wine that what was served up.
The same went for the spirits in the cocktails, unless you want a serious hangover don't drink more than one!
My friends will think I am mad when I tell them I was all inclusive for a week and drank less than at home ( a bottle of wine a week).
I guess my doctor will be happy though!

3/ The daytime music by the pool was way to loud for people relaxing, but worse it played the same 10 tracks day in and day out.
Just turn it down a bit a vary it please, particularly as there were older guests too.

I must say the staff were excellent throughout our stay.
The standard of service and friendliness of all of the staff was outstanding.

The pools were crystal clear and the grounds were immaculate.

Other things I would like to mention-
Don't bother changing any money into local currency (Shillings) they take US Dollars everywhere, just take some small denominations ($1, $5, $20 etc).
If you pay in Dollars push for your change in Dollars otherwise you will get tucked up with Shillings.

If you are staying on a resort away from Stone Town ( like this one) be prepared to spending money on getting around on trips and taxis.
Stone Town was approx 1 hour from this resort and you would pay US $50 to $60 for a return taxi trip. Most excursions were around US$100 to $120 per person.
If you book yourself from the Internet push for the transfer to be included in the price or you will pay extra.

Bon Voyage.

We stayed a week at Sandies as a group of 12 people (ages bet 7 and 60) and everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed our holiday! The resort is huge and restful. The pools are great, beach is good (although there is a lot of sea grass) but the water is warm and clear. Very relaxing and lots of shady areas to keep out of the heat and the pools were divine. Rooms were great and very clean. Very friendly staff who are always willing to assist. The food was great. Being muslim it helped that there were mostly Halaal foods. The salad's and veg selection was amazing. The only negative i have on the food is that they never serve prawns at any of the meal times. Lots of fish, but never prawns or shellfish which is a pity. Being on all inclusive was great as its very hot and you then have no costly drink bill at the end of your trip. I def would recommend this resort. We did the safari blue excursion which was amazing. and the spice tour is a must. All in all, it was an amazing holiday
