“beautiful boutique hotel and geat service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2012

I would higly recommand this hotel. It is a small boutique hotel nested on a beautiful beach
The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. The veranda is a grat spot overlooking a very nice swimming pool.
The service is excellent and the food is gorgeous: great breakfast served at any time, very good diner with excellent fish
I would love to come again!

Firstly I should apologise to Stuart and Marina for not submitting this review sooner, having stayed for a week as part of our honeymoon in July 2011.
We stayed in the honeymoon suite which we thought very reasonably priced for a large room with balcony from which you could walk straight onto the idyllic beach. It was appointed to a very high specification, and the furniture was made from local zanzibari wood. It was fantastic to be able to have breakfast no more than 20 mentres from the sea, and alongside the ample freshwater pool.
The food and service were exceptional, from the fresh fruit, delicious coffee and filling scrambled eggs for breakfast (plenty of other options) to the four course menu lovingly prepared by the resident chef each evening. It was generally seafood, taking advantage of local produce, and the slipper lobster dish will remain in my memory for ever.
The resort itself is a small collection of individual apartments, all offering privacy. It was quite isolated so don't expect evening entertainment, but if you have done your research you will be here for the luxury and relaxation. The service from the staff meets the high levels of the facilities offered.
The beach offers the opportunity to go for long walks, and you might see (and cringe) at some of the bigger hotels along the coast which are surrounded by local men selling their wares. That isn't really a problem around Pwani Mchangi.
Only word of advice would be that the dolphin swimming trip wasn't quite what we expected, the sea is very rough and you are in a small dhow operated by local fisherman a good mile out to sea, which my wife found quite intimidating and I wasn't entirely comfrotable with.
Don't let that detract from the quality of the resort, which we wouldn't hesitate to recommend and are looking forward to returning to for our 5th / 10th anniversary. A final reason for us to look back with fond memories, is that exactly nine months later we had a daughter!

Room Tip: Worth the upgrade to the honeymoon suite.

We spent 4 days here and didn't feel like moving much from the beautiful surroundings. Swam in the sea at high tide and cycled along the beach when the tide was out. Dinner was good - four courses with fresh seafood - and the staff excellent. Perfect for lazing around.

This hotel was far too overpriced and so far away from anywhere nice. Greeted by a large cockroach on entering the room, but I usually let that slide as it is a tropical climate. The beaches were covered in seaweed and there is only a local village nearby. We found ourselves regularly catching a $25 taxi to the northwest of zanzibar to get to the nice beaches and restaurants. The hotels & restuarants up there were 1/3 the price of Next Paradise. Everything they organise for you at the hotel is overpriced, for example taxi to airport 60 euros, when i walked down the road and negotiated US$25 with a local taxi driver. Excursions were crazy prices also.

The hotel is very small, only 16 rooms so may suit a private honeymoon getaway where you don't want to see other people.

I am not surprised that 3 young males looking for adventure are fascinated by the north beaches but It is easily understandable from our website and also from the Tripadvisor reviews that Next Paradise is a quiet small and intimate place and, if you collect proper information before you book, it is obvious that if you look for “action” or nightlife the north beaches are the right place.
Yes… you can find uncategorised local guesthouse at 1/3 of our rates (Next Paradise is a Boutique hotel) or you can find hotel (particularly at north beaches) that cost 3 times our rates…So over overpriced on which bases ???
Don’t want to polemize but, there are other 7 (4 or 5 star) hotels in our area (maximum distance 4 km) that is considered one of the most beautiful white sandy beaches of Zanzibar and, by the way, transfer from/to Airport costs 40 euro and not 60 euro (45 km) and if you stay with us at least 7 nights we provide transfer for free.

I understand that young people are not concerned about what mean to sit with a stranger on a beat-up car going around on the potholed roads, where, at any time, you can find on the street all kinds of obstacles such as children, goats, chickens, or something fell from the previous vehicle but…would you like to hear the story of the beach boy that, carrying 6 tourists without driving licence, tourist licence and road permit, hit a cow and then disapeared leaving the poor 6 terrified turists alone in the middle of the road with a destroyed vehicle and a agonizing cow ?
Or would you prefer the story of the 4 tourists (and of course a beach boy) jailed
crying on the phone desperate begging for rescue?
Please be informed that we substitute our vehicles every 2 year, our vehicles are serviced every month and, since on local market you can find only second hand (SNOW) tires, we have to import tires from Europe. Of course this is a cost, but we don’ like to play …particularly on the safety of our guests.

This hotel has just one word to describe it: perfect!
The decoration is worth appearing in these magazines of great hotels. Typical swahili furniture combining the white with the sand and the brown of the palm trees, the hotel harmonizes perfectly with nature and the surroundings. I loved the attitude of the host. Each night there is a small band playing soft music. The food is just incredible, Itallian gourmet dishes, mostly fresh seafood. The breakfast really made me start my day happily, freshly baked pastries with a touch of limoncello, delicious cappuccino made with Italian machines, and sweet fruit. We stayed there 4 days and we didnt want to leave... it was as if time has stopped there... You can always take tours to visit other parts of the island, or stay there and read a good book!

The food was amazing, the rooms large, comfortable, and decorated very tastefully with really comfortable huge bed. The attention to detail was really amazing and the location was stunning. So the beach, food, staff, hotel were all superb. For anyone looking for a beach holiday that is a bit more personal and very Zanzibari, this is the perfect spot. Would love to go back!

We stayed here for 9 days after our safari, and had booked this hotel based on the good reviews. We had a delightful stay. The hotel area is stunningly beautiful and the staff exceptional attentive and friendly. The food is very good, fresh sea food every day. We really liked the arrangement with the menu being written on a board in the afternoon.
The tide is no problem, with the pool and beach area so close to each other, and equally appealing. Lovely!

We have a few buts though, we would like to mention. We had booked through hotels.com, what was there called junior suite. Although our room was very elegant, it’s was a smaller then the impression we got from the website, and the sea view was quite limited. A tiny disappointment. The air condition only works until around two o’clock in the night due to pore power supply, leaving us with the fan, which made the rest of the night quite a warm experience, and reduced the sleep quality. The wi-fi is very limited, most of the days it was impossible to get any connection. But hey, you’re in Africa, so what to expect – hakuna matata!
When staying in good hotels, there are some things you get use to, which this hotel doesn’t offer; like complementary water and bath amenities such as shampoo, conditioner etc (there were only one shower soap, which lasted for a couple of days, no refill), so bring your own.
Because every expense is just written on the room, we didn’t tip anything to the waiters during the stay. Therefore we left quite a big tip for the staff with the manager at check out. We like the tipping box you find at some hotels!
All in all, we recommend this hotel because it’s so beautiful, the wonderful staff and the very good food. Thank you so much for an excellent stay!!
