“Historic property, nice amenities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014 via mobile

We stayed for a wedding for two nights. The property is historic and has a lot of charm and quality detail. The rooms are a but dated looking (perhaps part of the charm?) but with some nice modern updates like free wifi, flat screen TVs, and plenty of plugs to charge devices. Two bottles of water were provided in the room as well. There was some faded and peeling wallpaper in the corridors, but the room was in good condition.

The pool is easy to access in the courtyard, with lots of lounge chairs.

We asked for a rollaway bed for the room and it was in the room before we got back from the wedding ceremony.

The reception was in the resorted the food was great, service friendly and efficient. There's complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby in the mornings.

Note there is a resort fee charged per room, but it is far less than what you pay at other hotels for added charges for wifi, water, etc.

The Seaview Hotel never lets us down. We have been coming here for many years and continue to return because they treat us great, and the room rates are very reasonable. We will be back again this Fall.

When you look at the photos on the website, you get the impression that this is a fine, luxury hotel. Buyer beware! This place desperately needs a major overhaul, everywhere. And an infusion of quality amenities. Yes, the grounds are pretty and impressive, and the lobby is lovely, but the minute you get to the hallway past the front desk, you can tell that it is all quite a facade. The rooms are no better than your average Howard Johnson or Motel 6. There weren't even any of the standard toiletries provided in the bathroom, just one small bar of cheap, no name facial soap. Whatever paint jobs have been done in the past were done sloppily. And the plumbing in the bathrooms was sluggish, we had to have an engineer come to unclog the toilet. When I tried calling the front desk to get help, no one picked up, I had to physically go down stairs to the desk. The beds need new mattresses, although the pillows were fine. The windows had poor sealing or something because they were so fogged up, we could not see out of them. On top of the over priced room rate, we had to pay a "resort fee". even though we used no extra services, not even the pool. It's not actually a resort, it's a hotel with a pool. Yes, there is a golf course across from the hotel, but that does not make it a resort. There is only one dining option offered for dinner, called The Grille, which is in dire need of cleaning and sprucing up, it was not very inviting at all, in fact had more of the feeling of a dingy bar. But we did not feel like driving somewhere else just to eat dinner since there is not much nearby. The food was average and over priced, but you are paying for convenience at that point (my daughter's pizza was awful, but my salad nicoise was fine). Breakfast is served in the main dining room, and has a high price tag , which wouldn't be so bad if the dishes were clean (the glasses pre-set on the table for water and juice were dirty, I saw one with lipstick residue, so they obviously need a better dishwasher or different detergent!) It's such a shame because the place has so much potential, what with the history and the surroundings. Whoever owns it needs to dump a ton of money into it to restore it to its former glory, but you can tell that is never going to happen; it seems they are just trying to suck as much profit from the consumer as they can get away with. Overall, I would say that if you are going to spend that much money on a room, you would expect much higher quality and class. Instead you are getting what amounts to a 3 star motel room surrounded by pretty grounds.

We appreciate your feedback. We regret that some of your experience was less than desirable. Seaview Resort was built in 1914 as a private country club. Over years, we have done many upgrades to the property that have allowed us to maintain its historic beauty while still provide an ambience which is warm, refined and traditional. We are blessed to be a significant landmark in this community showcasing this 100 year old gem for our guests to experience. Your feedback allows us to continually improve upon our products and services. I hope to welcome you back in the near future to share rich and fascinating history of this property.

Very pretty and upscale hotel, but poor experience. Was staying with my husband and some friends for a wedding, we had to all wait in 1 room for 1 hour while the other rooms were prepared, at 5pm (after check in time), and when we got to the room it was damp on the floor and on the bed linens and smelled of strong ammonia cleaning solution. I called the front desk to remedy the issues and they sent a throw blanket to our room 1 hour later and nothing else. I probably wouldn't stay here again or recommend this hotel especially after my experience and since I found out that it was rumored to be haunted.

Clearly we were not performing to our usual standards, and for that I sincerely apologize. I have reviewed your feedback in detail with our restaurant manager and we’ve implemented steps to ensure this won’t happen again. With the owner, we are investigating installing proper ventilation in the hotel wings, as well as modulating the existing ventilation systems.

Lack of SERVICE...been to many hotels,This hotel dont know the meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE,...front desk are really mean, especially JM OR JAIME...she doesnt know that she is working in the front and she represents the DOLCE hotel, she let us wait for 4 hrs to check in,and we travelled very far ,she told us we need to wait because they need to clean the room and they will call us if they are ready,we were seated at the lobby for 4 hrs,and when we cant take the wait anymore,I asked that we needed the room so badly because poor 3 kids are all tired ,coz we travelled 5 hrs. the room keys are there already, ready and she just pulled it attached my name on it,...how come in this world we were seated in front of her for 4 hrs by the lobby and the room keys are all ready without informing us???I saw people checking in group of 6 ,group of 5 and all of them seems have no issues of checking in and have their keys in their hands in second,.When we went to the pool ,no towels ,again we asked the front desk, they said towels will come in a minute, but until the pool closed ,there were no towels,we left wet and dissapointed ,we dont bother to come and ask the front coz anyway its a waste of time coz they never seems to know the value of SERVICE :(

This resort was a welcome surprise. Despite age, the resort is a classic. Clean, well-decorated, with good service. The bed was excellent. The restaurant food is mediocre and the location requires about a 15min drive to AC. However, there are some casual restaurants and shopping in Absecon within a 5min drive. The swimming pools are in good condition and maintained clean. So for non-golfers, this resort offers an affordable classy alternative to the over-priced casino hotels.

Wow! A 5 star hotel where everyone is warm, welcoming and extremely accommodating to make your stay a stellar experience. Comfortable rooms with that old world style. Amazing service from start to finish. Everything you could want in a resort hotel: golf, tennis, indoor/outdoor pool, poolside barbecue, ping pong, gym and spa. Excellent food where your personal chef creates the best breakfast buffet in town!
