“Evening meal for party of 10”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013 via mobile

We arrived without booking a table during the summer holidays. Although the restaurant was busy there was no problem in accommodating our large party of 10. The food was fresh, very well presented and everyone in the party thoroughly enjoyed their meal including 2 small children. The service was to a high standard and the food was very good value a with portions on the large side. Definitely recommend a visit.

“Fabulous food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

We were a party of eleven and no-one could find fault. The food was amazing from the starters, main course and desert. The menu suited everyone in our party and everyone gave ten out of ten for service, food qualify and presentation.

“THE place for Sunday lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

I have only been to the Black Boys for Sunday lunch but each and every time it has been excellent. If you are beaten by the main course, you would be mad to miss out on a pudding; sublime.
I would recommend highly, but be sure to book!

“Bit Disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Went here on a friends advice. I expected more of a restaurant rather than a pub. The food was plentiful. I had the pigeon to start with, the first time I have tried it, not sure how I expected to taste but not the rather tough shoe leather taste I was served. For the main I had the lamb shank, ok but not special, my wife had the smoked haddock which she enjoyed. Afraid to say we wont be going back

“Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013 via mobile

Ate here in June rather mediocre to be honest. There was a strange smell of something I would associate to rotting fish in the dining area. Food was pretty boring. Main course of mackerel which was local was dull dried out from over cooking. The meal was edible but I wouldn't return to be honest.
