I decided to eat out for my breakfast on a Saturday morning and was so looking forward to a decent Irish fry up . When I went into the breakfast room , it was dingy, old and it was so dark in there I nearly fell asleep . The only cereals on offer were those in variety packs you got as a child and the whole fry up was deep fried and tasted horrible and they said they didn't "do" beans . They are lucky the coffee was ok...

Lismore House Hotel is conveniently located in the center of Lismore. The room was lovely and clean, and the food was delicious. We had dinner in the restaurant, hosting family whom we hadn't seen in many years, and we weren't disappointed. The breakfast the next morning was outstanding. Everyone there was friendly and helpful to us. I highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Lismore.

It's a kip don't even think of going there. The carpets are filthy, the chairs in the restaurant/bar are disgusting. The food is a sure recipe for instant bowel movement. We were advised not to dine in the restaurant as there would be better craic in the bar. My wife and I were there for a romantic weekend for god sake. I work in a customer service environment and the staff need to be made aware of the fact that the customers demands are always met.

Location is quite good as you enter the town of Lismore. Walking distance from the castle and most of the town’s restaurants and pubs. Rooms are very basic, though dated - especially the carpeting. They offer "family rooms" which contain two double beds. One of these rooms has a view to the interior roof and walls, the other has nice view, but is a handicap accessible room with a bathroom that has no (and I mean absolutely NO) countertop or shelf space. The service was minimal and provided by young people who clearly did not want to be there. The included breakfast was acceptable, but otherwise the food should be avoided. Overall, not a horrible stay, but I would certainly consider other options next time we are near Lismore.

Stayed here before Sean Kelly tour of Waterford Cycle 100km & only got 3-hours sleep! The checkin receptionist was dire ~ Firstly would not check me in saying room not ready but yet the room adjacent was when next couple checked in; ~ Secondly never told me their would be music in bar and my room was directly overhead!; ~ Three fupping hours sleep before a 100km cycle was the worst service i've received. Told on checkout I could have changed room on check-in had I been informed; yet that receptionist would not move me to another room when she would not check me in?! Do not stay here for the customer service at Reception. HK Staff were remarkable; bar staff lovely to when I received room-service. Receptionists need training, actual Customer Service Training, then move onto training with moving rooms for guests. She knew I was there for the cycle as I informed her; but she still put me in a room that had blaring music start at 11pm and then the noise with everyone on the street outside after late bar-service. Dire ; just Dire Service! Won't be back! Cannot recommend.

We stayed in this hotel from August 30th - September 1st. After booking, I managed to arrange an upgrade as a birthday surprise for my stepmum. We were informed it would be a castle view which indeed it was. Staff were very friendly on arrival and throughout the stay. However, the plumbing needs major work. On the second night, the pipes in the bathroom were shaking and made such a noise that woke us all up several times - similar to someone drilling on the other side of the wall. Food in the bar was lovely but as friendly as staff were, they seemed to be lacking in training. For instance, I ordered duck spring rolls for a starter and my stepdad ordered soup. Food arrived first (no problem) but when the waitress came with cutlery, she gave me a spoon and knife and my stepdad a fork and knife... even though he had soup in front of him. On another occasion, a man dropped either a glass or a jug and it smashed all over the carpet in the bar area - a waiter came over immediately to pick up obvious bits of glass but a few hours later, another guy working picked up 3 more pieces. The area should have been hoovered immediately and the kids that were around the area were lucky not to have stood on any shards left behind.
One major issue is that the website is very misleading - images definitely touched up to make everything looks alot better than it is. Chairs in bar are very grotty on the arm pieces; in the bed room, the wall had cracks, the carpet had stains on it, quite a large cobweb was present between the wardrobe and ceiling and the bathroom baffled me completely. It was very much for the use of a disabled person with a tiny sink and seat in the shower... no bath and for an upgrade, I would have expected a little more luxury than just the view. There are lots of little things wrong with the hotel which clearly make it a 3 star. It is sad because it has the potential to be so much better and actually look like how it does on its website.

Overall, an ok stay, don't think i'd return but the staff really are all so lovely and welcoming - the hotel should be proud of that because that is something many places are lacking in.
