“Amazing !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2011

Just came back from a 2 day visit to Chera Rocks with my wife and 7 month old son. It was simply an amazing experience. Beautiful location, great food and amazing staff. We were picked up from Kannur station by a taxi (which was included in the package, the drop was not). The moment you reach the resort, you are transformed into a different world. Sand, sea and coconut trees all around. We stayed in the 'Standard Deluxe' room. The room itself was not great to be fair, but had a porch with a great view of the sea. We had booked an AC room, but that was not available when we checked in. The best part of Chera Rocks is the food and the service. All meals were marvelous and was always much more than we could finish. We had lots of seafood (variety of fish, prawns, crabs). A special mention for the ever-smiling Ali, who made this stay truly amazing.

Good:
1. Stunning location
2. Food, food and more food
3. Staff - Vivek (manager), Sivaprasad and others
4. Last but not the least, the one and only Ali.

Not so good:
1. The only sour note was left by the grumpy taxi driver who charged Rs 400 for the drop to Kannur station (the Chera Rocks website says its about 8 kms to Kannur railway station).

Just a awesome place - Tottada beach & Chera rock. Last week me, my wife and family visited the place - We had a wonderful time at Chera Rock beach house. It is a very quiet lonely place with beauty of the sea and sand and coconut trees, one can simply foreget about everything and say thank to god.Thottada beach is a fishing beach and there is not a single shop on the beach. The local fishermen set out in the morning and afternoon, do their job and sell fish. Some directly to Chera Rocks, which is also why you get the freshest sea food! Crab, squid and pom-fret.. We took super deluxe room just front side to sea- Thats really amazing.. The beach was a few steps away from the stay (super deluxe rooms). It was quite problematic to my parents. We enjoyed the place for my wife's birthday celebration and Kerala monsoon.. Its a 100% family resort.

Good things about Chera Rock:
1. Location
2. Enjoy monsoon
3. Enjoy fishes
4. Fresh fruit juices thrice a day. (unlike other resorts who serve soft drinks only)
5. Wonderful tasty true keralian food.
6. Nivedh's dad - Srini and vivek (manager)- Awesome
7. Mr. Ali as the greatest cook
8. Comfortable cottages.
9. Majestic Sea Eagles (only two we have seen there)
10. Enjoyed the place.

All in all we would thoroughly recommend Chera Rocks, and would definitely visit there again in future.

Signing out -
Dibakar, Bangalore.

Room Tip: Enjoy the beach - Best room super deluxe :-)

We chose Chera rocks rather randomly as we knew little about Kerala. It turned out to be the most perfect place to have a holiday and I don't think we would have found anywhere that we would prefer.
The location is beautiful, on a curved, sheltered stretch of palm-lined beach. The guest houses are set on the beach well off the road, reached by a charming path leading down through the bird-filled trees.
The accomodation is stylish, simple and clean, most rooms are almost on the beach facing the sea.
The food is absolutely delicious and very abundant. We were introduced to a variety of Kerelan cooking, while the cook was always happy to adjust spice-power!
The best part of our holiday was the perfect hosts. We certainly would return to see this lovely famiily and by the end of the holiday they felt like dear friends. They were happy to arrange anything, and were always helpful. Our children, 4 and 6 had a marvellous time and loved the family very much too.
Anyone looking for peace and magic will llike it here. While there are plenty of places and events to see, it is very relaxing to rest and do very little. It would be a very nice adult holiday, but also very child-friendly with safe swimming and accomodating chef.
We will definitely return.

Room Tip: all rooms good for different reasons.

We stayed here for a week in March and I've been meaning to write a review ever since we got back. We had a brilliant time - the food was excellent (and very healthy with lots of fish and fresh fruit) and although the accomodation was fairly basic (we stayed in one of the standard rooms) it was more than enough for the two of us.

We were made to feel so welcome, the staff were friendly and helpful, the weather was great, the beach lovely for sunbathing, safe swimming in the sea... it was absolutely perfect!

I had just had a very stressful and busy couple of months at work and this was the perfect place to come and relax at the beginning of our trip to India. I would definitely go back.

Where do I start! We had seen photos and read reviews and we thought the rave reviews would probably be exaggerated but upon our arrival we discovered the location and the attentiveness of the staff went way beyond our wildest dreams! We ended up staying 19 days and changing our plans so we could extend our experience of the amazing location, the service of the staff and in fact everything! I am reluctant to go on about it as it is at the moment quite an undiscovered hide-away and therefore don't want to spoil that by increasing its popularity! We had one of the smaller rooms higher up on a small hill thus giving us an overview of the beach and sea with the fisherboats coming and going. The other more spacious rooms were on the beach itself but they were more expensive. The owners with their staff were always at hand to help with any of the guests' needs ranging from culinary requirements to doctors' visits or Ayurvedic treatments, yoga lessons or local cultural events. The food was delicious but too much of it! The sea was safe and calm for swimming which is quite unique for this area. It was a little treck from the car parking area down the hill but well worth it and to be honest, due to its beauty, one did not feel like moving around a lot.....Oh happy memories! This one we definitely would return to with great pleasure! We feel like family now and when we left it was a very sad moment.

My wife and me visited chera rock beach house in mid march and stayed there for 3 days..and wished if we could stay there longer!!
We were picked up from the kannur station, about 25mins away from the beach, by an innova, as we reached there we wondered where the beach house is? as we came down… it was like a picture being alive for us..it was just amazing!

We stayed in the Super Deluxe rooms..only few meters away from the sea... The accommodation was spotlessly clean, spacious & comfortable with a very personalized interior. All rooms overlook the beach and have lovely veranda where you can sit and relax while enjoying the environment around.. Sitting on the veranda or in the shade of the palms with a fruit juice and watching the local fishermen or the tides of the sea or the men those who went out in the sea to catch mussels was just a great way to spend the day in perfect solitude with my wife! here we tasted the best of keralian foods..the food provided were varied and superfluous for us!! Thanks to ali and nivedh the service was friendly and always with a smile. Both nivedh and his father are very friendly and helpful and always looked after the comfort of the guests.
The beach here was clean and absolutely free from any sort of vendors, crowds and chaos. you can find few fisherman's preparing their nets, polishing their boats. also the beach is absolutely safe to go into the sea and take a bath….or simply walk along the beach..

The sunset here is something you can never miss..its awesome!!the reddish orange sky coming down to meet the golden coloured sea, the sandy golden yellow beach with green mussels scattered around and crabs running with the tides… sea eagles flying above the palm trees..an unforgettable view altogether that we would remember for a long long time….
We would have missed the real beauty of keralian beaches if we wouldn’t come here…and of course the original keralian taste too!!

Nivedh mentioned to us that he do not want any “development” in the beach because he wants it to be as it is with all it’s beauty and let it be unexplored.

One good news for the future visitors is – Chera Rock beach House is expanding and they have come up with a full set of super deluxe cottages on the other side of the beach too.

Good things about Chera Rock:
1. Location
2. Location
3. Location
4. Fresh fruit juices thrice a day. (unlike other resorts who serve soft drinks only)
5. Wonderful tasty true keralian food.
6. Nivedh and his father as host.
7. Ali as the greatest cook
8. Comfortable cottages.
9. Majestic Sea Eagles (only two we have seen there)
10. Sunset view
