“Best resteraunt in Potes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

This restaurant tucked away down the tourist street to the south of the Bridge is super for real Spanish food. Always full of locals just having a glass of wine or eating it positively hums at all times. Great meats and tapas style dishes as well as full plates and don’t order to much as usually the portions are very generous.

Great if you can get a window table overlooking the river / town and a must to book in the summer.

“Casa Cayo is at the heart of Potes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

We were 5 fifty year old men from Canada on a bike trip through Northern Spain. We stayed and ate at Casa Cayo and enjoyed ourselves.

Potes is a town designed by a Hollywood director who wanted to show what an old stone Spanish town looked like. It is a town of nooks, curved walls, secrets and a river that runs through town.

Casa Cayo is in the middle of this town and in the center of the action. When we were there it seemed that they had more staff than guests. The hotel and restaurant were clean, well served and very comfortable.

The restaurant was a highlight. We were served by a woman with a great sense of humor. The food was delicious and fresh. Salads were great, roast chicken, lamb, beans were all first rate.

It is not a luxe hotel - it is a great place to be if you want be part of a place.

“Worst meal and service for a long time!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

My wife and I shared a poor experience at the Casa Cayo with atrocious service from the female server, and the food was worse. I had read that this was rated highly on Trip Advisor by others and wanting a special meal before leaving Spain to complete a great holiday in the mountains. We arrived early at 8.45 to avoid possible crowds. We ended the only customers for the first hour. The server was off-hand and made a face when I chose something else other than her suggestion when my first choice was not available. From that point onwards she dealt with us as if we were an inconvenience. We ordered a selection of pates and the bean stew to start. The 'selection' of pates amounted to 2, with a selection of 'packet' Melba toast, one set of which was still in their cellophane wrapper! We both had some of each other's food, but before my wife had finished her pate, the server came and took the plates away without asking if she was finished. We both ordered the stuffed Escalope, which was grossly overcooked and stuffed with what looked like 'toast topper' mixture - truly disgusting. We declined the unimaginative list of desserts and the coffee and left pronto. Lord knows why this place is rated so highly, it deserves to be avoided at all costs as almost anywhere must be better! In stark contrast we had a basic but very enjoyable at the Cafe Uart in Llanes on the coast the day before and for €15 less, so good value and service does exist, just not at Casa Cayo.

“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

We stayed at Casa Cayo for two nights last summer and had dinner in the restaurant one night. The guys who run this place are amazing, they are working so hard all the time, but always have a friendly smile and are willing to assist in any way possible. The restaurant was very popular in the evenings but we didn't have any issue finding a space at the bar for a drink before dinner where we sampled some tasty tapas. Dinner was delicious and the portions were huge. My husband had the meat sampler platter and I had insalata mixta, both were fantastic and the service was top knotch. Potes was absolutely incredible and we can't wait to go back there again someday.

“What an amazing place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

We were treated well, for our stay of four days here! We stayed on the top floor and have to say, this was our favorite room of one month of traveling and staying in hotels throughout Spain.

And the restaurant food was the best in all of Potes, practically, all of the places we ate in Spain. I would not hesitate to come here again! Be sure to visit Cares Gorge while you are there!
