“Bugs in bed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

The rooms were large and okay. It has a nice view over the landscape. Also the restaurant was good. One can "meet" some hungry monkeys there.
However, the bed was not clean and full of fleas or bugs. Therefore, be careful and better use a sleeping bag if you stay there.

Let's be frank, not many people end up in Arba Minch... if you did get there it's likely that you have just come from the Omo Valley, and if that's the case you probably want a clean bed, and some water and a decent dinner.
In that case this hotel is likely to be your choice. It does give you all that.
Obviously you are still in Ethiopia, so it may be that there is no water in your bathroom or that not everything will work out as you would like. Keep your expectations low.
The views are spectacular though, and the restaurant is a good comfort zone to go to. The hotel is 20 minutes walk or a short ride by car from the centre of town where you can get restaurants and drinks.

OK not more and not less. room is OK view is nice. sort of a motel
Try to ask for a room not very far from reception so you don't have to walk far each time you get out.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights while visiting the South Omo Valley. We found the accommodations to be quite comfortable and peaceful. Service was excellent and food good. We especially enjoyed the sitting area outside our room that overlooked the cliffs. From there we could see the baboon families romping through the trees and chasing each other. We even had a visitor at our window in the late afternoon when we awoke from a nap. It was very cute. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially if you have stayed at other accommodations in the South Omo Valley...this was like heaven.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room that overlooks the cliffs. It is well worth the extra money.

For rural Ethiopia, Swayne's offers nice rooms & comfortable beds. The views from the clif are great. The hotel has been expanded and updated and the dining area has been nicely improved.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the cliff.

Great place, nice (seemed to be recently renovated) rooms, unbelievable view and the food at the restaurant is great!

Make sure you stay between rooms 4 and 20 to have the best view.

Price is a little steep (50 dollars for ferenjis), but worth it!

Room Tip: Stay between rooms 4 and 20 for a spectacular view

We were shown to the rooms, just near to the beautiful cliff view, the garden was beeing rebuilt and it was uncomfortable to walk the long way to the rooms. There were baboons in the garden, near the cliff, and we could spot birds too. Very quite and peaceful. The bed was a bit hard, the shower did work, but one needs to plug in the boiler at least one hour before getting hot water! The rooms seem old and not very well kept, but they were large and we could even charge our cameras and phones.

Room Tip: The best rooms are near the cliff
