We spent a week-end at Paradise Lodge in August 2012. Arrived by plane from Addis Ababa and was met by hotel shuttle at the airport. Transfer to lodge was smooth and met with complimentary hot towel and welcome drink at check-in. Double rooms were OK for size, though bath rooms were rather dark and cramped. Lovely terrace overlooking lakes and national park. Woke with back pain after first night as springs in mattress poking in all directions.
Food in restaurant lived up to expectations. Nice fresh fish on first day, buffet on second day. Good selection of foreign wines to accompany. Limited choice for breakfast, though fresh eggs cooked to your liking.
Hotel reception helpful in organising day trip to national park and "crododile market", as well as local villages. Hotel also provided spa service (had a lovely foot massage at very reasonable cost) and free wi-fi.
Some litter strewn around the hotel grounds detracted from the overall experience, as did the broken fence against the escarpment outside our terrace. As a smoker, the odd "no smoking" policy outdoors (!) was somewhat awkward. (There were designated smoking areas outdoors.)
At US$ 60 per night, the price of a double room was reasonable. Hotel was also accommodating of late departure and let us keep the room until 14:00 at no extra charge (check-out normally at 10:00).
Would have no reservations about warmly recommending this hotel for a week-end break from Addis Ababa or as a stop-over en route to or from the south.
Check bed mattress for defects.
