“A great place to stay in a quiet seaside resort.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

An excellent place to stay in Seaton. Driftwood is situated in a quiet lane, and a 15 minute walk down to the town, and a little longer back to Driftwood, as this up hill! Driftwood itself is highly furnished, and the owners are very helpful, and suggested places to see and suggested a few of the coastal walks, which were excellent, thank you. A great garden with table and chairs to use, as garden is a lovely suntrap. We were very lucky with the weather, and enjoyed the garden. Seaton is a great base, and has a lovely quiet beach, which hubby caught some fish, so all very happy! A must is to visit Beer, a lovely old fashioned seaside village, again with a great beach, and can be reached by a 2 mile coastal walk. Also worth visits are Sidmouth, Exmouth and Lyme Regis. All of which are great. My husband and I went to Dfitwood with my parents for a relaxing summer break, and this has certainly been achieved! Many thanks to Gary and Sally, you have a wonderful holiday home.

“Home from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

We have stayed in many cottages over the years and this one of the best. Large , comfortable bungalow with all mod cons. Good quality linen, tableware, furniture and white goods and spotlessly clean. the garden is a suntrap and not having to travel far to any of the attractions in the region we were able to take full advantage, going out and sightseeing during the day and returning mid afternoon to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet. Our dog loved it, being an old lady now she used to crash out under the bamboo. It is only a 10min walk albeit downhill into Seaton. Seaton itself is a quiet town but there is a Co-op and large Tesco store. Livelier towns should you want them are Sidmouth, Exmouth and Lyme Regis just a sort drive away. There are plenty of dog friendly beaches, some areas are restricted but well sign posted and didn't stop us going anywhere. Eating out there are plenty of pubs in the area and recommend The Blue Ball at Sidford (dog friendly) but you may have to book as it does get busy but the service and food is very good. Thank you Gary and Sally for your hospitality, we'll be back.

“Perfect, homely, relaxing stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

Although the weather could have been better the accomodation more than made up for it. It was a modern two bedroom bungalow with large rooms yet it had a homely cosy feel. It was clean, fully equipped, and well maintained, and Gary, the owner, phoned on arrival to ensure all was well. The property also had a large conservatorty leading onto a fully enclosed garden with summerhouse so our dog was able to really enjoy herself too! Seaton seafront was a pleasant 600 metres walk away and being a keen sea fisherman I found the lure of this steeply shelving beach too much to resist. Luckily I was rewarded with fairly decent catches, especially when the mackerel shoals were in! There were plenty of places to visit in East Devon and West Dorset within a reasonable distance and would certainly recommend this property to anyone, not just friends and family. Put it this way we will ceratinly be re-booking for next year!

“Recommended - you should try it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2011 for a stay in June 2011

Lovely clean and well equipped bungalow - excellent accommodation - would recommend it.
The only downsides - we had trouble locating the property - local directions would be useful when pre-booking.
Seaton town looks a bit tired and rundown - the other local towns are much better ie Lyme Regis and Beer.
Would not recommend FryDays chip shop - 30 min wait for a takeaway and you must pay upfront!
