“What Lovely Hosts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

We stayed at the Bay Tree Guest House for two nights for a weekend away on the South coast. We were looking for somewhere that provided good clean accommodation at a reasonable price and within a short distance of places to eat, the beach and the South West coastal path.

We were welcomed by the ever so friendly owners who were extremely hospitable throughout. Our room was at the front with lovely sea views and it had recently been renovated with a nice new en-suite bathroom. Everything was very clean and the bed was nice and comfy. The owners were a delight and always willing to pass on their local knowledge including recommending places to eat. There was plenty of choice of food and drinks for breakfast in the morning, with locally sourced produce and that really set us up for the day. Full English highly recommended! Overall, an excellent stay and we would have no hesitation in staying at the Bay Tree again if we are in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front - these have sea views

How nice to have a few days in a very clean comfortable B&B with welcoming hosts who made you feel so at home in their home. The breakfasts were good and presented well - most appetising. Ideal location to have as a base for the area.

Lucky for us that Bay Tree House had vacancies when we turned up in Seaton midweek with nowhere booked. We opted for the family room with seaview as it was a good size (if astonishingly pink) and a good price. Sue and Dave proved great hosts, with Sue kindly catering for my gluten-free diet and offering excellent advice on local eateries and trips. The bed was very comfortable, and became more so over the three nights we stayed, due to the (locally sourced) memory foam mattress. Breakfast was excellent, with good healthy choices as well as the more traditional English breakfast. Tea-making facilities provided, with plenty of choice of teabag, and fresh milk in a small fridge on the landing (nice touch - much appreciated). You might be able to park in the road, but if not, there is private parking round the back. The house is well placed, very close to the seafront, and at the right end of town for the walk to Beer, a must-visit village two miles away. Axminister, and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's Canteen and Deli (highly recommended) are a short drive, and Sidmouth (and its annual folk festival) 10 miles west. Thanks for a memorable few days - wish we could have stayed longer.

We chose Bay Tree Hotel to stay at in Seaton and were certainly not disappointed. We were met by Dave and Sue with a warm welcome and slice of Madeira cake and shown to our room which was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The guesthouse is ideally located a very short walk to the seafront. Nothing was too much trouble for Dave and Sue who made us feel at home, and cooked a fantastic breakfast! I would highly recommend staying here, look no further!

Dear Von-balthazar, we are pleased to hear how much you enjoyed your stay with us. Our welcome to you with tea and cake from the local baker, has been well received by all our guests. The cleanliness and comfort of our rooms is very important, to ensure that your stay with us is perfect in every way. Next time you return we can only promise another fantastic breakfast and and short walk to the seafront and relax, who could ask for more. Thank you once again, Dave & Sue.

We stayed at this B&B for two nights in July. Sue and David made us most welcome and went out of their way to give us advice on local amenities and must-see spots. The rooms were immaculate, food good and it was great to that they have private parking available. It is situated in a quiet road just up from the beach at Seaton which is not far from Lyme Regis. The also supplied well researched Notes covering local restaurants, bus routes, etc. Access to a communal guest fridge was also a bonus in those hot times.

Roger M, thank you for your complimentary comments. We do pride ourselves using local suppliers for our breakfasts, home furnishings and general day to day running of the B&B. The private parking we have available is a great benefit to guests if the public areas nearby are full. The quality and comfort of your stay is paramount to us and we are glad we provided this for you. Thank you again, David & Sue.
