I stayed at the hotel with my husband last weekend. We were joined by friends and had a great weekend. The staff were very welcoming and showed us to our room.
Burns Night was very well organised and very entertaining as described by the previous reviewer. The food was excellent. My husband and other male members of our group enjoyed the whisky tasting very much!!!
The staff were very accomodating including the night staff. The grounds are well maintained as is the exterior and interior of the hotel.
I would recommend this hotel and hope to return soon.
Thank You to the staff for a lovely weekend.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. I have stayed their many times with both friends and as a couple. Brilliant atmosphere, extremely helpful staff with nothing too much trouble. The bedrooms are very welcoming also clean; the beds are exceedingly comfortable, if fact you may find it hard to get out of bed in the morning: however the breakfast is well worth the effort of getting out of bed it is delicious. It may take you about 10minutes to choose your choice of food due to the vast array of choice. This venue is suitable for both informal and formal functions. Location is fantastic for walking and sightseeing, or a trip to the coast.

Recently stayed in The Old Lodgings with a group of friends and we couldn't have been more delighted with the accomodation. It certainly has the wow factor. We hired the whole place for the weekend. The rooms are fabulous - more like junior suites. We had our meals in the hotel. Excellent food served by attentive staff. Overall a great place and great customer service!

Our group chose to book into The Lodgings, tempted by the idea of relaxed mornings, sat in the very comfortably furnished communal lounge, indulgently sat about sipping lattes in our PJs, discussing the latest book (1984 by George Orwell). However, I forgot to pack my PJs and casually mentioned it to Eileen the hotel manager. Above and beyond the call of duty, Eileen dispatched a member of staff, who swiftly returned with a perfect pair of "lazy morning" PJs of her own for me to borrow. Thank you, Eileen, amazing service and so kind.
Furthermore, it became clear, as the fabulous weekend progressed, that this was a hotel that prided itself on going all the way to provide a truly individual 5* experience.
And as for the food, delicious! Locally sourced and of the highest quality.
Moreover, The Lodgings were perfect for a group booking. I will have to return though and try out one of the very romantic looking hotel rooms!!!

What an amazing event at a superb hotel. My husband and I celebrated Burns night at the Old Lodge. We were met by friendly staff who could not have made our welcome more welcoming. We were showed to a beautiful room that oozed luxury, and then given detailed information on the evening event. Bag pipes, poetry, haggis, fun, laughter were just a few ingredients of the night.
I will most certainly try any other events the Old Lodge puts on and if there isnt one soon then it will be a cozy weekend away in gorgeous surroundings.

Room Tip: Luxury rooms are eally luxurious.

£145 for the two of us bought us a wonderful, professionally hosted Burns Supper, followed by a night in a large and comfortable room, and a first class full English Breakfast next morning. Our Scottish master of ceremonies entertained us with humour, history, and verses from Robert Burns' works, and we enjoyed beautifully cooked and presented food: Cullen Skink for starter (smoked haddock chowder), Haggis & peppercorn sauce, with neeps and tatties, and for desert, Cranochan (a concoction of cream, oats, mint, rasperries and raspberry sauce. On the theme of Scottish cuisine we were also challenged to compose an 8-line "Ode to the Deep Fried Mars Bar", with a bottle of excellent whisky for the winner.

Next morning instead of the ubiquitous "hot food" buffet bar; we were served breakfast straight from the kitchen, so this hotel gets extra points in my book for serving hot breakfasts that really are hot, on hot plates! (Most hotels, we find, fall down on this and it annoys us greatly).

In short, best night out for a long while, with great food and great service. (Oh, by the way, I won the bottle of whisky but I have written this review stone cold sober!)
