“Lovely! Looking forward to our next stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

Very nice hotel in a beautiful setting. The staff was very friendly and oh! the bistro! The food was wonderful. Just like the hotel, the decor is simple yet warm and comfortable. (The pictures on their website are very accurate.) There is so much to see and do in the area. I have no doubt that we will stay there again on our next trip to the region.

An attractive modern eco twist on a mountain lodge style place, we travelled with two young kids and got a spacious Deluxe room with a bunk for the kids. We could have booked the cinema room one night for a big screen DVD viewing but didn't feel the need as the kids were early to bed - other than this I was not aware of too many other kids activities but with great weather and fall colors to enjoy during the day we did not hang around the hotel very much anyway.

We had breakfast included which was really nice (fantastic bistro but got the feeling from the front desk guy that by night it was probably not suited to young kids for dinner. He recommended take out burgers from the burger pub around the porch and using the common room on our floor to eat. While this did not make us feel hugely welcome for dinner, in reality it suited us fine).

A very comfortable sleep and a good bathroom. Unlike the last reviewer, we experienced good, friendly service at the front desk and at breakfast, but the morning we departed the receptionist was outstanding; I needed an English-speaking doctor somewhere in Magog, Quebec City or anywhere in between as I was not at all well, and she went to a lot of trouble to make me an appointment - eventually finding a GP five minutes away who was wonderful. The setting of the hotel was lovely too. It was very good for our needs and we would recommend strongly to friends.

we arrived to our room an enjoyed the look of the hotel very much, large king bed, old wood styled furniture, large and spacious, But after a short honeymoon period we realized the door would not shut as it was too big. Perhaps swollen from the humid heat of the summer? Either way , upon notifying the front desk( a gentleman with short white hair) we were met with smugness and disbelief. "it's 5pm on a friday" he said with a shrug. Uninterested and dismissive he continued with "I'll call other hotels to move you as there is noone to fx it and we're full." We were part of a wedding party who had rented most of the hotel and had no interest in moving. We left and went back to the room and decided we would just have to body check the door every time. He finally called up an hour later, asking to investigate the room. Upon arrival he acted with shock, like he didn't believe us in the first place: I've never met such rudeness with simply pointing out an issue that needed to be fixed. I'd suggest avoiding this hotel in future. There are many in the area to choose from.

What a nice place ! Food is absolutely terrific. Small but rooms are terrific, clean, modern and no carpets ! I would recommend. Spa looks nice ! Adding a pool/tennis would be great ! It is very close to the Mount Orford and Magog (small nice town).

Room Tip: Suites are great, terrace

I stayed in that inn for the third time over the last 6 years. The inn still looks new. Love the wood and varnished concrete floor. The view on the Mont Orford is spectacular, the room is of decent size but the bathroom is rather small. The shower head is slightly too low for a six foot tall of higher.
The room is quiet, clean and has good mattress and coach. You can open the window and let the fresh air of the mountain comes in at night.

The breakfast is inexpensive and good. The restaurant is very well decorated and the service is friendly.

Will go there next time l am in Magog/Orford.

Room Tip: Watch out for room facing the mountain, you may hear the music from the bar that closes at midnight

We've now stayed twice at this location and loved it. While it offers many packages, we have twice had the dinner and breakfast package which includes a 5 course dinner, and buffet breakfast in the morning.

This inn is great if you are traveling up from the States and are looking for an overnight spot while heading to Quebec City, or if you want to spend a few days exploring the Eastern Townships. Also, if you are a skier, which we aren't, it is right by Mt. Orford and several other ski areas. For us it is the convenience while traveling onto Quebec City, and the dinner.

For the dinner, they do give you several choices for each entree. for our main course we both had grilled grouper, and creme brûlée for dessert. I also had a salad, foie gras, plus my wife gave me her blood pudding as I had never tryed it before. I forgot to ad there was a cheese plate before desert. Suffice to say that it was all fantastic, as was our previous meal last fall.

The rooms a good sized, comfortable bed, and they also have a small store justs outside their restaurant where you can pick up accessories or even beer and wine.

In all it is a very relaxing place. The service is good, and people seem to come from al over either to eat at the restaurant, or the Burger Pub which serves food outside.

A great value, location, and place to enjoy very good food. We will return again and again!!

JDP

Room Tip: All the rooms seem great

We enjoyed our stay so much last year that we returned and brought some friends with us this time! Got a larger room that included a full kitchen that was great for breakfast. We'd planned to cook one night but the bistro in the hotel is so good we just decided to eat there again instead. The bistro offers a breakfast buffet which was very good. But we were there for skiing and it took up a lot of time and had to hunt down the server to get our bill long after our plates had been cleared. The kitchen came in handy for having a quick, no hassle breakfast before heading over to the mountain.

We reserved the cinema room on the basement which was a fun place to unwind after dinner. Picked up some snacks and some beers in the store before and it was cool to enjoy a DVD on the giant screen. Everything was really great, staff were all friendly and helpful. Would gladly return again, really can't beat the quality at such an excellent value with the third night free offer.

Minor complaint - In our kitchen unit, it was fully stocked except the wine opener was broken. Brought this down the the front desk and was told they couldn't give us another one but we could bring bottles down to the bistro or to the front desk to have them opened. It was a minimal hassle but odd considering how great they are with everything else. We eventually just went out and bought our own, we tend to enjoy our wine after a long day of skiing. I'd suggest bringing your own as this seems to be an odd issue for them.

Room Tip: Take advantage of the third night free promotion to get the best value for your stay.
