“Perfect Weedend Getaway...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2010

My husband and I (in our 40s) spend a long weekend at Estrimont this past January to do nothing but relax and get pampered. And, that's exactly what we did. The check in was quick and friendly. The room (albeit a little dark) was very cozy, clean, well laid out, and had everything you'd need. They have a pretty big indoor pool. Very inviting jacuzzies, hot tubs, and saunas. It was great. The spa services were fantastic. We took facials and massages that were out of this world! The resto too for breakfast and dinner was pretty good. There was a new wine bar and a bistro, but we didn't try them. This was our 2nd stay and will probably go back again. Try them out! Drop me a line if you have any questions.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2009

I just returned from a one-night stay here with my family after a longer visit to Quebec City. We expected it to be more of our "stop-over" on our way home but it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. The staff here were very nice and the room was extrememly spacious and contemporary (everything looked brand new!). But the best part was the outdoor pool area with 4 different hot-tubs (2 with a waterfall), sauna, and a lovely, warm "yourte" (enclosed tent) where we loved to lounge and sip the tea that is available. The buffet breakfast was great, and perhaps because it was a weekday, there were no lines at all. We wish we could've stayed longer and will certainly be back. It must be wonderful to use these amenities in the winter as well. Be sure to check out the lovely town of Magog and the lake!

We liked our stay except for the breakfast buffet. The food is ok, but the way how the buffet is organized creates long lines. If you want an additional serving of something you have to stay another 15min in line again! If only they changed the layout of the buffet – like if guests would be able to access food trays from both sides, not only from one – everything would go much faster! Just put the food trays on the isle – not next to the wall!

Everything else was pretty good: room, beds, full kitchenette, sauna, jacuzzi, swimming pool. We loved to spend time outside in hot jacuzzi with snow lying around it! Loved to rest after sauna in chaise long in Yurt sipping hot tea, looking at fire and listening to quite music!

One more problem during winter time: inside swimming pool is in completely different area than outside jacuzzis and sauna, so if one part of your family (for example – kids) would want to stay in swimming pool – you’ll be running around the hotel to jacuzzis in your wet swimming suits…This is not a problem for summer thou – since outside swimming pool is right next to sauna and jacuzzi.

I loved our stay this past Sunday. The rooms are large, the service is great and the pools are amazing. You have to try the scandinavian bath outside. It is open year round, which must be really nice in winter. We took a five course meal, tasted loads of new foods and loved every minute of it. We took their ''CinéPop package. 12$ for 2 movies, a popcorn, a pitcher of soda and candies:) Very good overall, nothing bad to say. If you want to have a good time, some relaxation and just some good memories... definitely visit Estrimont.

The revious review from DC comments on the value, and the Estrimont is certainly not overpriced. We went there for 2 nights over Christmas, and came back very satisfied. Food in particular was excellent, and we will not forget the hot tub out in the snow. The younger crowd seemed to be enjoying themselves also. The location, a couple of km off the main autoroute, was certainly a plus on a Christmas Eve with freezing rain in the forecast.

  • Liked — The little, unexpected extras. My wife's spa experience was excellent
  • Disliked — My wife thought the decor was a little dark and depressing.

Our small family had a wonderful stay at the Estrimont. The room is large with a Murphy bed that stows away during the day, a pull-down blind between the Murphy bed and main bed, and a sink/fridge area in the same long room. A balcony has a bar-b-que. The rooms are very modern and clean.

My favorite parts of our stay was the outstanding service from all the staff including the front desk, dining, and housekeeping staff. The front desk was very happy to make some calls for me to help us plan activities. The pool, hot tub, and jacuzzis are nicely laid out and were not overcrowded. Also, the morning breakfast was delicious and something that we looked forward to every day. For the quality of the hotel and serivce, the Estrimont is a great value.

The Estrimont Suites did not live up to their name. They are more like Suitettes, not a seperate bedroom, but a rolling blind that seperated the bed from the living room, in which resides a murphy bed.

I was expecting a kitchen and got a nook with a sink, a toaster oven and a microwave. We did get a bbq on the deck which made it bearable for me. I love to sourch local ingredients and cook myself, so I was very dissapointed that there was no stove.

This hotel does not really cater to Anglophones, although the staff does speak English, the local maps provided were only in French as are all the posted instructions.

The bed is comfortable and the amenities provided in the bath are top notch. The American breakfast included is Ok, plentiful but basic steam table fare, definately not memorable, but not horrible either.

This is a clean hotel and the staff make up the room very early in the day which is a bonus if you like to return to the room for lunch.

This hotel is situated very near the town of Magog which is a delight to explore.

  • Liked — It's location - near to Magog and North Hatley
  • Disliked — No elevator so you carry your bags up 2 flights, the rooms were dark
