Description: Boat Bistro & Bar. There are few places in the Cairngorm National park where food, wine and location come together as beautifully as The Boat Bistro, we showcase rustic and seasonal fare and re-imagined classics, featuring vegetables, fruits and herbs grown locally combined with produce sourced from the British Isles. Poached, squeezed, pressed, steamed, grilled, wilted, roasted, battered and seared. Our utterly delicious food, from first thing in the morning to last thing at night, will melt on your tongue and always leave you wanting more. Our menus comprise contemporary interpretations of classic British dishes. Our Lunch and Dinner menus also feature daily Best of British specials. It almost goes without saying that we use fresh, local, seasonal produce as the norm.Breakfast offers you a range of cold dishes and freshly baked pastries from the larder. As well as a fully cooked Scottish breakfast, you can order anything from delicate smoked Scottish Haddock to meltingly beautiful Eggs Florentine. If there’s anything else you’d like to eat, just ask. We’re not too posh or proud to make boiled egg and soldier. The Osprey Bar is warm and welcoming, the perfect place to meet, the bar is full of quiet corners. Tuck yourself away with a paper. Enjoy a quiet romantic moment. The Boat Bistro & Bar, you'll find:Best of British specials every day.Breakfast, lunch and dinner, contemporary interpretations of traditional dishes using fresh local produce. Extensive malt whisky selection. Early Bird Dining. We welcome everyone to experience the Bistro & Bar, including guests not staying at the hotel.

“Great Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

Stayed at the Boat Hotel on a few occasions now and we were very happy with the choices on offer, especially the lamb. However my only criticism would be the fish and chip night, where we were served our fish 'n' chips on a narrow board covered in "would-be" newspaper - I spent most of my time trying to keep it on the table! Lovely gimmick but prefer plates!

“Great menu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2014

Dined here twice whilst staying in the Boat Hotel. Really nejoyed both meals. Lovely menu with lots of choice. Food was well presented and tasted delicious. Fab portion sizes for hungry outdoor types like us! Great service. Thanks!

“A pleasant meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

Whilst staying in Nethy Bridge decide to visit here for a meal one evening and were pleasantly surprised. The night we were there they were doing a special of a meal plus a drink for £12.95 which I thought was quite reasonable. We all had the fish which was very nice. However, I would say that I think that they could have increased the portion of chips that came with it. The waitress was ultra efficient and very pleasant. There was also a singer performing that evening who set the volume at a level which allowed you to hold a conversation without shouting. All in all a pleasant experience.

“Sinking without a Trace”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014

A well-presented hotel looked like it was going to offer much. A nice interior and smart staff, we headed to the bar and a were welcomed in an over-the-top manner by, presumably, the duty manager. Before he annoyed us too much, we were served by the barman and enjoyed pints of the local 'Boat' beer and lager. It seemed the Boat Hotel was confused; it wants to be a smart diner whilst trying to attract drinkers too. Some people were after a quiet drink while others were happy to make a loud nuisance of themselves spurred on by the increasingly irritating duty manager. Rowdy weekend drinking behaviour is fine in the right setting but not when it is mixed with supposed finer dining. Boat Hotel, decide what you want to be, sort your staff out and you'll be on to a winner.

“Lunch not as good as usual”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

The Boat Hotel is usually a save bet for a light lunch, however today it wasn't up to its usual standard. Parsnip soup that didn't really taste of parsnip then a disappointing tandoori chicken sandwich, which used hot smoked salmon with some mayo and lacked any real curry flavours. However the couple at the next table were raving over the fish and chips, so perhaps a bad choice on the day for us.
