“Perfectly delicious!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

We ate here on the second night of our stay at the hotel, 12th January.

I had the haggis spring rolls after another review on tripadvisor recommended them, and I was not disappointed. They were delicious! My partner also had them and was very happy with his choice. He then went on to have the steak, which he said was the best steak he has had in a very long time, cooked to perfection. I had the shoulder of lamb and was delighted to be asked if I would like redcurrant or mint sauce to accompany it, normally I find there is no choice, but it has to be mint sauce for me! The lamb, like the steak, was cooked to perfection, wonderfully tender and full of flavour.

For pudding I had the cardamom brulee, and was in pudding heaven! My partner had the sticky toffee pudding which he said was lovely.

The service during the meal was friendly ad helpful without being overly intrusive.

I would highly recommend this place for a lovely meal and great service.

“If you're in the area.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

We stopped here for a drink on the way through to Aviemore and decided to have something to eat.
They were very busy and almost fully booked (Saturday evening) but they were able to give us a table in the bar/dining room (menu exactly the same as the restaurant).
We plumped for the early bird menu at £15 for three courses. There was a choice of 3 options on each course. All the food was nicely cooked and well presented. Portions were ample and we left feeling full.
The one mark off is because the dining room was very cold and it didn't seem anything had been done to try to improve this.

“absolutely....average!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Pleasant staff but atmosphere a bit uppity. Most expensive sunday roast I've ever had. Was nice, but not enough, and I left hungry as I didn't have a starter. Wouldn't go again, sorry!

“Walked out”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

Went for Sunday lunch to Boat Hotel for a change.
One of the most limited menus I have ever seen.
Starters were pitta bread with humous. Or Olives or soup.
Place was dark and lacked atmosphere.
Asked if we could mix and match the lunch menu with the early bird menu. No
Offered the a la carte menu which would have made lunch pretty expensive.
Went to the Granr Arms ( where we normally go) instead.
Mentioned to manager on way out that choice of starters was terrible. Shrugged his shoulders and said sorry !!!

“Boat of Garten”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2012

Part of the Boat Hotel, the bistro atmosphere is more relaxed than the residents restaurant. Food choice is good, with some local dishes, there is a good selection of whisky, and local beer, always a good sign that the bar is well used.
