“Hidden Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

Stayed for a week here with my wife,17 year old daughter and our dog Max. The area is beautiful with fantastic views, a real 'get away from it all' place to go. The chalets are very well equipped and have everything you need - very warm and cosy with modern comforts. When we arrived we were welcomed by Michelle & Les who showed us to our lodge with a bottle of water (the tap water is brown, so we used bottled for brushing teeth, cooking etc.) and more importantly a complimentary bottle of wine which was a nice touch. Being miles away from the nearest supermarket, we made sure we brought a couple of days worth of provisions with us (well, beer!) and then did our 'big shop' in Oban which is 40 mins away, supermarkets aplenty there; Lidl, Aldi,Tesco, fish & chip shops, etc. We also caught the ferry from Oban to Mull which we had pre booked on the internet and toured the island in a our car that we had taken with us, a great day out! On the way back, we called at the 'Taj Mahal' Indian takeaway in Oban, we had to re-heat it in the microwave after our journey back to the lodge, but it was a lovely treat after a long day, highly recommend it! We hired a boat from Loch Awe Boats which is about a mile down the road from the lodges. The views from the loch itself are amazing, well worth trying out during your stay. Michelle gave us a voucher which knocked £18 off the day's boat hire, a great saving! Michelle also let us have the use of a couple of rods for our stay, I'd like to say I caught a net full, but nothing I'm afraid - although sat on your own private jetty, rod in one hand, beer in the other, I didn't much care about the monster fish that got away. We drove up to Fortwilliam and Glen Nevis, then back through Glen Coe on our last day. The scenery was nothing short of breath taking. Michelle and Les were the perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble, we had a fantastic time. If you're looking to 'get away from it all' then this is the place for you, a genuine hidden treasure!

Had a short break here with my husband and 16 year old son. The area is beautiful and if you are looking for a hideaway well this is the place to go. The chalets are very well equipped with microwave and fridge freezer a good oven and plenty of space to store your food wine beer etc. The lodge was warm as it had central heating but we really didn't need it as the weather was beautiful when we were there.
When we arrived there was a bottle of water (the water is brown, so you will need this for cleaning your teeth) and a bottle of wine thanks to the owners which was a nice touch. The chalet was clean although the chairs and sofa could do with an upgrade as they were a little threadbare but all was very clean and homely so that's only a minor grumble.
If you plan to stay there make sure you take everything you need with you food wise as there is literally nothing around you and we mainly did our shopping in Oban which is over an hour away however there is a very well equipped little shop and post office in Lochawe.
We did call in the country club for a meal and drinks after being out all day and the food was pretty good don't expect top of the range but a good selection of seafood on the menu and the fish was cooked beautifully. We also called in at the local pub in Lochawe - the tight line people in there very friendly and welcoming we had a look at the menu but it wasn't up to much.
The lodge is great for a real getaway from it all holiday, we went into Oban for most things we needed, shopping catch the ferry to mull and to eat etc. also visited Fort William and I have to say that it didnt live up to my expectations.
All in all a great few days and would recommend these chalets to my family and friends.
