“A Beautiful Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

Had a wonderful stay here in late September with fantastic hosts Ina and Jim. The location is stunning, the house incredibly comfortable and the welcome very warm (especially from Jack, the adorable little spaniel)! Slept in a giant comfortable bed with a breathtaking view of the glen and the hills beyond. Breakfast (in a lovely sunny kitchen, warmed by the Aga and looking out onto yet another amazing view) was lovely - toast made with freshly-baked bread, eggs, bacon, sausage, very tasty! Evening meals were also delicious; Ina is an amazing cook and her beautiful dinners are highly recommended.

Took a trip to Oban and enjoyed stunning scenery at every turn – this really is a beautiful part of Scotland. The next day we walked through the glen and along the river, with just the birdsong for company, and on the last night we stood outside and watched an incredible starry sky (no light pollution here) while the stags called across the glen. It was unforgettable and I would thoroughly recommend a stay here!

It is gratifying to see that our standards are being maintained and which helped these guests maximise the pleasure gained in their first visit to this beautiful part of Argyll.
Autumn in this part of the world provides spectacular scenery and colour along with the first chill air and clear skies. When the weather is right the night sky here is a stargazers delight as confirmed by this guest.
The little touches we provide in our offering are what gives our guests that special experience, up our hill, in this beautiful glen.

A house in the middle of nowhere so that you can rest from the road trip, a lovely night with Ina and James chatting in their wonderful living room with a view on the mountains around, hearing stories about the neighbourhood, and the village, about the everyday life in Dalmally, a wonderful diner (Ina cooks sooooooo well!!!) - they definitely know how to welcome people in their house! Beds are so comfortable, never slept so well during the whole trip, and leaving that lovely couple was very hard the following morning !!!!!
Enjoy your stay !

Room Tip: Take their phone number with you when you traveil, you may not find the house straight away! :)

We welcome this appreciation of our efforts to make our guests feel they have had a memorable experience here at Inverstrae. Guests can enjoy the feeling of being 'at home and involved in our family ' or just chill out on their own. The choice is yours to make and whichever is chosen we aim to give that memorable stay.

Our tranquil environment and fantastic views make it worth the effort in reaching us just a couple of miles from the main Oban road. Laura has made a good comment about noting our phone number in case you have not taken route details from our website. It is 01838 200495.

Hiya, as we arrived in this awesome B&B we were very welcomed by the hosts, Jim and Ina a great couple, also a very friendly cocker spaniel Jack topped up our arrival welcoming. Staying at this house will make you feel as if you're staying in an eden surrounded by nature, dears, pheasants and lot more. after we settled in our rooms and been offered some tea and had a nice chat with the host we went for a walk in the woods and got caught in the rain, no worries Jim came for the rescue with his own car and Ina also took care to get our clothes dry. We also had dinner with Jim and Ina which was all home made by a great cook Ina, it was a very social dinner, the day after an excellent breakfast was also served by this lovely couple. Wished I could have stayed more.

Best regards
Vince, Miriam, Luke & Matthew ( Malta )

It was really pleasing to welcome this family from Malta as a result of a previous visit by another family from that part of the world. The weather during their time here gave them a full range of experiences and recognising our duty of care to our guests it was expedient to recover them from their walk on the wild side!!
The appreciation of our hospitality by this group and others who have reviewed our offering is really welcomed and encourages us at this Olympian time in Britain to continue our efforts to give a gold medal offering here at Inverstrae Bed & Breakfast. Our environment, eden or paradise as a guest recently commented, deserves a top quality offering and we are pleased our guests think we measure up.

We arrived as strangers and left after only two nights, having made two wonderful friends. Jim, Ina and Jack (the cocker spaniel) were so welcoming and invited us in to their lovely bungalow where we enjoyed coffee and home made cake before we'd even unpacked! We had a very comfortable bed with beautiful bed linen, huge soft towels in the bathroom, loads of hot water and the breakfast was delicious. Every window had fantastic views of Glen Strae - even when it rained! Visitors must sample the evening meal, much tastier and cosier than eating out somewhere. Our hosts really did go the extra mile and made us feel completely relaxed and part of the family. We've toured Scotland lots of times but nothing gets even close to Inverstrae and it's lovely hosts.

Room Tip: All the rooms at Inverstrae are comfortable, clean and have magnificent views.

It is a pleasure to again respond to a guest review. Our guests visited us so they could attend the local highlight of the year, Dalmally Show. The weather could best be described as inclement but as can be seen from the review we were able to provide a service which enabled our guests to have a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. We have geared our facilities to ensure our guests enjoy their experience here in the glen as much as possible and it is immensely satisfying to receive a commendation like this.

We stayed at the Inverstrae B&B for 1 night in august on our travels through Scotland and we absolutely loved it. We've stayed in 11 B&B's during this trip, but this one was our absolute favourite! First of all the location of the B&B is wonderful. So quiet and peaceful with amazing views of the mountains from our room! Our room was spacious and clean. Then the hosts, Ina and Jim, what a nice couple! When we arrived they gave us a warm welcome and made us feel home immediately. They offered us a cup of tea with some sweets and wanted to know everything about us and our travels, which was very nice. And since there are no pubs close to the B&B they offered us a home cooked meal, which was delightful. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. It was obvious that they really love what they do. The scenery is really beautiful and Jim gave us a tip for a walking route, so in the evening we took a nice walk around the area (and saw some deer and buzzards!). The next morning we felt sorry we had to leave already! Ina and Jim, thank you for the lovely stay and we wish you all the luck with your B&B and hopefully we will be back sometime!

It is always a pleasure to be complemented on our service and this is no exception. The visit was part of an 80th birthday celebration which included a visit to the Clan seat. The bagpiping recital was arranged as a fitting climax to the visit to Scotland and was well received amidst the stunning vistas of our beautiful Glen Strae.

Just returned from our second visit to this wonderful haven of peace, hospitality and excellent food. This time we decided to go for a long weekend, using my husband's birthday as an excuse. We received a wonderful welcome and a homemade birthday cake which was gorgeous. Following Jim's advice we had a great weekend out and about enjoying the area and its treasures, not to mention the wildlife. We returned home relaxed and refreshed with that feeling that one usually gets following a much longer break. Many thanks to Jim and Ina. Not forgetting Jack who kept us entertained.

It was a pleasure to welcome these returning guests from Wales and to make their celebration weekend memorable for all the right reasons.
Their commendation is very much appreciated.
We are happy to report that an earlier suggestion regarding sprinkler heads for hair washing has now been completed in all bathrooms with the installation of mixer taps on the baths with shower head attachments
