“Home From Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

We stayed at Le Bourg 7 over a long weekend in May and have to say it was a fantastic experience. What made it was the extremely warm, friendly and welcoming staff. Laura, Charlotte and Alex all went out of their way to make our stay most enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble for them - from providing late night room service, helping us celebrate a birthday over breakfast, providing really good suggestions for things to see and do in the area (which we did). And most importantly of all the hotel is extremely child friendly. With two small children they made us all feel really welcome. Definitely a home from home. Lutry is a beautiful spot, really well placed for Lausanne, and the hotel a real treasure to find. The room was very comfortable and easily accommodated all four of us. Nice touch was the iPod docking station. The church bells are quaint and you get used to them very quickly. We will definitely be coming back.

After our son and his family moved to the Lausanne area last year, we wanted to find a small hotel that could become our haven: we found it at Le Bourg 7. This was our first stay and it was ideal for us. The small town of Lutry is beautiful, right on the lake, with small cobblestone streets that wind around the village. Le Bourg 7 has lovely rooms (we peaked in several). We stayed in a suite overlooking the tiny church square (I've attached photos of Room #9). The staff was wonderful. Everyone went out of their way to be helpful and everyone speaks English (as well as several others languages). As I mentioned: there is a church . . . therefore, there are church bells that ring. At first, you may think they will bother you (and I'm one who needs quiet) but they were charming and did not detract from a good night's sleep (The first night, I did wake once, but was soon fast asleep again. If you are concerned, perhaps you might want to bring ear plugs.) We had many lovely conversations with staff members while having our delicious coffee and breakfast each morning. I was reminded how important it is at hotels such as this to tell them if anything bothers you or if you need anything: they truly want to make your stay as perfect as it can be BUT if you don't tell them what you need or what concerns you, they cannot help. Le Bourg 7 wants to make your stay as ideal an experience as possible. For that alone, I highly recommend it.

We stayed here during a weekend in May while we attended a wedding in Lutry. We loved the decoration an atmosphere of the hotel, intimate and charming, with a lot of attention to details like coffe machine in the room, docin-station for ipod etc.

But especially I would like to mention the amazingly helpful and friendly staff, every time we picked up the phone, or talked to someone at the reception we were amazed by how nice, serviceminded and truly friendly they were.

We usually stay in "Hotel Le Rivage", which is nice (but make sure you have a room facing the lake)but this time somebody must have smoked in the room and it was impossible to stay there. No possibility to change room as the hotel was sold out.The owner of the hotel then fixed us in Le Bourg 7, even paid the difference of Sfr 100(!!)and led us personally to the Le Bourg 7.(Room price in Le Rivage Sfr. 180 incl.Breakfast, in Le Bourg 280)
We were given an "appartment" (room 2)(but this I wld call a room with a kitchenette)with a small garden in front, which would be quite nice, but a)it was too cold to sit outside and b)there is a bar right next to the little garden. Noise(till closing time) and smokers! not what I really want in my holidays.
There was a coffee machine and you can buy the pads at reception for Sfr 1 EACH. That is really overpriced. Breakfast: well not bad, but micro portions. When we asked for a soft boiled egg, we got it after 10 minutes, and were charged Sfr 3.50 each. Toast 1 cut in two for the two of us and one 10gram cube of butter, wow!
All in all. The design of the room is quite nice, although is terribly cold in the bathroom, because you cannot shut the window completely. But if you want to stay and enjoy your stay, sorry, we would not recommend it because for that price you get something better.

Room Tip: If you can help it, don't go there!

We are sorry for you that you didn't enjoy your stay.
We are not of the kind to criticize clients as in the hotel business the first thing they teach us is that "the customer is always right". Well unfortunately for you, this is the first time in my career that I think this sentence definitely does not apply to you. I can tell you, we would have rather you stayed at the Rivage, but as you said in your comment you also where as annoying with them as you where with us, and not only they had to send you away but where even kind enough to paid for the difference. For your information our double rooms are 220chf and juniors are chf 290!
The room you had was number 1 and not number 2, and there is no bar next to the room but the is a small terrace for a small restaurant next to us which closes at 21h.
As you said that IT was so cold outside, i dont see how the terrace with people smoking outside could annoy you since apparently you where not even outside. Not only you annoyed the Rivage and tey had to move you, but apparently if people smoke outside, it's also a problem for you. I really think next time you should consider just stay in your own home!. As for the heating in the bathroom, please note there is a radiator but I guess you didn't manage to turn the handle to turn it on or even ask one of us to do it for you as its always easier to complain later on about it!
For the eggs. I am guessing you don't cook much at home but an egg takes 3-5 minutes to cook, so we do apologize for taking 5 minutes between taking your order and bring it to the table. Maybe you have a solution for hoteliers for instant boiled eggs?! Never heard about it though. The breakfast consists of a buffet and all bread and pastries you can serve yourselves as much as you want, but from your comments it must be like the heating, smoking and all you other unfounded comments......soooo much easier not to say anything and complain later when there absolutely no need.
As for the capsules, you actually have 3 free in your room and the cost of a capsule is 60cents, I am guessing you don't own a business or are business oriented when you say the capsules are overpriced at 1chf!!
Basically for the first time ever i would like to say i do hope not to see you again and please stop waisting hoteliers time and consider just staying at home!

Geneva was the start of our are travel around Switzerland. We looked for hotels a little bit outside the main cities to explore small Swiss towns.
It was our luck (and a few positive Tripadvisor reviews) that we booked our stay at this hotel, what a find! The service has been impeccable with Charlotte doing her very best to make our stay and holiday as easy as possible by providing helpful suggestions. The rooms are compact but furnished to a very high standard and impeccably maintained. The breakfast is high quality. The township is quaint and is superbly clean, its got to be experienced, my words will not do justice to the feel of the town. There are very good restaurants and bars around. The foreshore is 100 metres away approximately and is really beautiful.
If you are looking to get off the beaten track into something really exquisite, I would recommend this.
Lutry is well connected to Lausanne by train, so getting around is pretty easy.

This is a beautifully designed boutique hotel. We stayed for two nights with our two children in a room with a sofa bed in the living area and a separate bedroom. We loved the design aspects of this hotel but would like to advise other families that this room was very, very small. So small in fact that by the time we were leaving we were actually happy to move on and find somewhere bigger.
Besides this, the hotel staff are lovely and extremely helpful. They all speak great English and were happy to give us snippets of information and advice. Eating out in this area is very expensive but it is such a beautiful little village.

By the way, we were right in front of the bells and they did not bother our sleeping at all...in fact it all added to the beautiful ambience. This is a lovely place for couples and we loved the nespresso too!
