“Great location, poor hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2009

Ok, so I wasn't expecting too much given that this hotel is unclassified, but the rooms were pretty pokey and dark and it is located right on the main road. Overall my negative opinion is a price/value issue - at 90€ per night I'd expect a little more...like light bulbs working in the bathroom.

Breakfast was pretty good, but with the current Euro/GBP rate it works out a little steep.

There's no parking on site, but there is free public parking over the road.

Although situated on Cap Ferret, this hotel is actually in Le Canon, rather than Cap Ferret itself (and absolutely don't make the mistake of staying in Lege-Cap-Ferret as this is a village at the very start of the peninsula, rather than on the peninsula itself). There's a couple of bars and restaurants on the main road, but nothing special.

My advice would be to go into the Oyster quarter which is just over the road from the hotel. This is a really charming little area with a great bar/restaurant and loads of little bay side oyster bars. Discovering this area made up for the disappointment of the hotel.

Cap Ferret itself is drop dead beautiful. The beach on the ocean side is simply stunning.

Driving around is a bit of a pain as there can be a fair amount of traffic. The best idea is to either take bikes or hire them when you're there (12€ per day). the whole peninsula is set up with bike trails and as it's fairly flat cycling isn't particularly taxing.
