“A skiing holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Hotel Vallefura is situated in a superb location.
It was great for my 7 year old son to take his first skiing lessons, but it also caters for experienced skiers. The owner is a very friendly and accommodating person, and I found the stuff very helpful. They gave great hints for daily excursions, away from ski slopes, how to find relevant shops etc.
I would go back for a vacation, maybe in the summer to explore the mountains.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013 via mobile

We were hesitant to book a ski trip in an area which is not well known but we needed somewhere close to Rome so we took a punt. We are very pleased with every aspect of the location. It was not easy to find though without your own vehicle, although we did. We were helped enormously by skiabruzzo.com which is working hard to promote the region to English speakers. Runs are well suited to beginners.

The hotel is right next to the chair lifts of two ski pistes, all the amenities are nearby such as ski hire/pass shop/ski school/winter playground for kids. The ski resort is good for beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders, having wide pistes, not as good as Monte Pratello but it 's very local and close to the hotel. Even you want to go to the other pistes, it's only 10 km.s to Aremogna and Monte Pratello.
Hotel staff is very friendly, hospitality is high and food is excellent. If the hotel had a playground inside the hotel for the kids to spend time it would be very helpful but anyway you can leave your kids at hotel safely. We had excellent time and highly recommend the hotel.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2012

The hotel is right next to a chair lift, a ski hire/pass shop and a ski school: it could not be more convenient, especially with kids wanting short breaks during the day.

The ski resort is good for beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders, having wide pistes, although there are just two chair lifts. It is not connected to the other resorts in Roccaraso, which are at about 20 minute drive away, so within easy reach. The pass for the whole area is not much more expensive than that for just the local resort.

The town of Pescocostanzo is pretty, quiet and just a 5 minute drive from the hotel. Some guests went there the odd evening for a change. Far more pleasant that any other town in the area. You must try some of the cheese and cured meats from the local shops.

As you walk into the reception of the Vallefura hotel, you'll find a welcoming fireplace and bar on your right and the restaurant on your left. Further back there is a billiard room with a few other games and tables for the kids. It has a cosy atmosphere, broken only at dinner time when all the guests come together. Many are from the nearby south regions, so are lively, but not rowdy. Kids run around free and mingle among the tables, very entertaining for our children. The restaurant staff are very friendly and efficient: they'll remember your preferences and anticipate your calls. Food is varied and tasty with some pleasant surprises. We liked starters and first courses in particular. You will not go hungry.

We were given two practical en-suite rooms next to each other on a separate wing of the building, so parents and children could relax on their own. Very warm and plenty of hot water from the showers.

The resort and hotel make an excellent destination as an introduction to the area, in particular for families with kids of primary school age.
