“Very Interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

The fort is well presented and the museum is good to look round. Great stop for a cup of tea when walking on a cold day

“Would have been nice if the ticket lady had let us in !!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

Although we hold family membership for the Scotland National Trust, the ladies on the tickets desk said we had to pay as Scottish National Trust Cards weren't valid there !! They said we had to pay. This was the ticket office managed by English Heritage right up the hill by the fort. The National Trust office at the car park was closed for refurbishment. We have been all over the UK seeing National Trust properties using our Scotland National Trust card and this is the first time this has ever happened to us

EnglishHeritageTA, General Manager at Housesteads Fort and Museum - Hadrian's Wall, responded to this review, March 15, 2013
We have contacted the reviewer to find out more about this incident but we are still unclear as to why this happened. We accept many thousands of National Trust members so there is no reason as to why they would have not been let in.

We would like to confirm that National Trust members are always welcome at Housesteads Fort.

“Roma Del Norte?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

Who knows if the Roman claims upon Britannia were as legit as they say - a question for historians - BUT one thing is for sure: they built like they meant to stay. This is one of the best preserved Roman forts in Northern Europe and well worth the long drive and decent walk from the car park. I was here with the lads in July 2008 then solo summer of 2011. Plan on a half day to scrum and walk a while beside the Wall which forms the back wall of the fort. And be sure to get the obligatory shot of your kids or mate on the lieu - the Romans liked to do all manner of things together - but definitely take the kids. They'll love it too. Cheers!
