Description: “Peyia Tavern” is a family restaurant and is highly recommended, here you will have the opportunity to sample the “Traditional Special Meat Meze”, great dish for the meat lovers. The meat is cooked in the traditional Cypriot way (on the charcoal). The Special Meze is served one dish at a time by the Taverna staff which are family members. Be careful not to over face yourself with the bread, salad, dips and pourgouri (traditional couscous) which is served as an appetiser prior to the meat dishes. Also the taverna serves traditional dishes like "Halloumi", "Sieftalia" and "Stifado".

“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012 via mobile

It doesn't own till 6 and they don't use menu's so you have no idea of prices although they explain the dishes well. Food is lovely, side dishes of salad, humous and cous cous, then loads of really tasty meat. Very characteristic and traditional - well worth a visit!

“Pleasant and good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

Well worth a visit. Relaxed atmosphere and good value food. Don't worry about how it looks; I always find that too many tourists seem to think that a place should look fantastic (this place is not), or that they expect to be served immediately (a self-defeating expectation because this means that the food is already ready). And what I liked about this is that one had to wait for one's food- which meant that it was being prepared there and then. If people want immediate food (as did some visitors next to me) then they should go to a fast-food place. I was happy to wait for my stifadho (beef stew) and it was cooked to perfection.

“Great Place To Eat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

Just returned from a two week stay in Pegeia. Visited this place four or five times and although the menu never seemed to vary (there's several options though) it was of a consistently excellent quality, very reasonably priced & exceptional value. Friendly service, a great view from the balcony & pleasant surroundings inside too.

“total disappointment”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

We had read the reviews on trip advisor and so were looking forward to going on our last night. As previous reviews have said , it doesnt look much from the outside but always seems to be busy and very popular. There is no menu but the waiter explains what is available and we decided to have the meze to try a bit of everthing. What followed bore no resemblance to what he had described. It was a series of burnt dry bits of meat. ie dry overcooked pork chop with a bit of coriander, dry burnt lamb chop with a bit of coriander. I have to confess that when a big plate of chips came out my heart sank. How is that authentic meze!!! The chicken was inedible. All the meat was incredibly salty but had no other seasoning of flavouring added to it. We could not wait to leave. Please do not bother with this horrid little place that obviously puts no love into the cooking now that they have people coming in everynight. try the meze meze tavern in kathikas instead. Much nicer, cooler(temp), prettier and the food is 100% better for the same price.

“Great Traditional Piles Of Meat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

We went here as we were staying in Peyia and had read the reviews on tripadvisor. It doesn't look much from the outside, a bit un-inspiring, without any 'wow' factor.
It was packed. We didn't book but they managed to find a table for four & in we went.
We all had the Meze. It was fantastic and as others have said, it just keeps coming!! Bread & dips, salad, proper chips, great couscous to start. Hold back on these because here comes the meat!
Pork, Shaftalia (sausage), chicken, lamb and plenty of it.
It was all well cooked and delicious.
For 4 adults, including drinks, 73 euros. A complete bargain.
Believe the hype and seek The Peyia Tavern out. Well worth the effort.
