If you have a coach transfer you get dropped off at the bottom of a mountain which is incredibly steep to climb and VERY DANGEROUS late at night because it is pitch black and a road of just rubble...where lay several dead rats right under your feet.
At the bottom of the hill is a main road which is just under 2 miles to Benitses and around 1.5 miles to any shop, restaurant or even what you would call a beach.
The road is very busy, no pavement to walk to and pitch black of a night - THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN WALK ANYWHERE - SHOPS, RESTAURANTS, BEACHES WITHOUT HIRING A CAR, MOPED, OR QUAD. If you walk the road to the village of Benitses of a night - you will just be killed by fast moving cars.
We arrived at the hotel at 5am - to complete darkness - not a soul about - every light was off so we had to sit by the pool waiting for around an hour and half with our mobile phone lights whilst we tried to get a working contact number to contact the owner to tell him we had arrived - NO NUMBERS WORK!!
When he did arrive...after family in England googled for a contact number that worked. There was no apology - just shown to the room and left - and I mean this is all we saw of this one chap all week!
The room was small, smelly however seemed clean! Very old fashioned and hot - and full of mosquitoes! The bathroom was filled with raw sewage which after several attempts of washing it down with hot water it went - however it was dirty all week and smelly!
Beds were full of bed bugs, and we were given ONE HAND TOWEL to last on for the week - oh this was changed ONCE! Our bins were emptied twice, and in contact of the maid - she tried to make us pay her 20 EUROS to stay an extra night - which we had paid for already!
RISING SUN AND ARONIS ARE THE SAME...we booked RISING SUN and were given ARONIS - however, rising sun did not look any better - scruffy, dirty and broken glass in the doors.
The POOL area was overgrown, millions of mosquitoes too - most likely because repellent had not been sprayed around the complex. The pool was clean, but around it was cracked tiles, and dirty sunbeds!
We hired a quad bike because we had no choice - everywhere was just too far - and we are YOUNG IN OUR 20S year olds...so pretty fit!
The guy who seemed to own the RISING SUN BLOCK - shouted at us...for parking in the rising sun car park and not the aronis - even though they are the same complex :/
This GREEK GUY who can be described as old, and starting to go bald....was VERY RUDE, HE WAS ABUSIVE, ARROGANT AND LAZY. We asked him for help for directions to the local bus stop and HE JUST GRUNTED AT US. NEVER MET SUCH A RUDE MAN IN ALL OUR LIVES!
THIS REALLY IS NOT SUITABLE FOR FAMILIES...LET ALONE COUPLES!!! We booked through travel republic - and the whole description is LIE...it is MILES from a decent beach - and even what can be described as decent is shingle with about 6 sunbeds.
The whole town of benitses is tired, scruffy, and falling down - it really shows that the greek economy is not spending money here - AVOID BENITSES, RISING SUN AND ARONIS WITH A PASSION!!!!!!
BE WARNED THIS REALLY IS THE HOTEL FROM HELL!!!
