Having just arrived home last night, from what was probably one of our best holidays abroad! Part of me didn't want to write this review, as it is our 'little secret'!! I read some of the reviews on here from a few years ago prior to booking this, mainly from the Greeks and was a little concerned.. DON'T BELIEVE THEM!!
This is the first time we have travelled to Greece, having spent more time in Spain, and Italy. We booked this last minute, on a bit of a whim as it seemed very good value for money - and we were most certainly not disappointed.
The rooms are basic, but very clean - we stayed in a twin room with sea view, with a patio area. The mattress on the bed wasn't the most comfortable I have slept on, but everything was in good working order. The way the hotel is laid out - it makes it very 'village-like' which was really comfortable, and we were made to feel as part of the family from day one.
The restaurant served a continental breakfast, including coffee and orange juice. The lunch was varied, mainly focused on local produce such as feta cheese, salads, hummus, but also hot foods such as meatballs, moussaka, chicken and chips. For dinner there was much of the same, all of very high quality food and really tasty. We had an Italian night, BBQ night and a traditional Greek night throughout the week.
The bar next to the swimming pool was well stocked with both local and some international drinks, alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks were available. Particular mention to Niko and Andreas, the bar men - who are an absolute asset to the hotel - really great service, and helped to make our holiday so great.
The all inclusive option is really great value for money - drinks are served until 10.30pm, which for us was plenty - as the Ouzo certainly gets flowing!
The swimming pool itself is not heated, but I suppose in hot weather it would be perfect. Really deep (around 3m at deepest), which is perfect for my partner, who is over 6 foot.
The weather when we were there wasn't the best - we had rain for 4 days out of 7, but it is still very early in the season - the weather will be better from End of May / Early June through to approx October. So to say it rained, and we still give 5 as the rating I suppose should speak volumes!
The location of the hotel is misleading on Google earth, which situates it in the middle of Lefkada which is not true - it is 3km from Nidri, which walking is around 30 mins or by Quad bike it is about 5 mins, which is the option we took. The hotel offer a free minibus service 3 times a day to and from should you want to venture out, but don't want to hire a car / Quad etc..
The views are absolutely stunning, overlooking the calm waters, mainland greece, skorpios (onassis) and meganissi.
We ventured out on the Quad bike into Nidri, Valsikki, and Porto Katsiki (amazing beach!) The locals were relaxed, and friendly.
We are going back to this hotel in September 2012 as we enjoyed it so much.
