“Lovely beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

Excellent beach, and plenty of shops, bars, resterants and ice cream. Also: pretty scenery and good swimming as well!

“Lovely promenade”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

Fabulous beach, plenty of restaurants, mostly all good. Very good supermarkets. You can stay here without needing a car. Good range of accommodation too.

“Great Place to Relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We have been visiting Luz for over 20 years and love the peace and tranquility the resort offers. It has stunning beaches which are exceptionally clean and safe. The resort also offers a large variety of restaurants offering every sort of cuisine that might tempt your taste buds. There are lots of walks along the Atlantic which offer stunning views of the coast. We enjoyed temperature of 28*-30*.

We also spent some time in Burgua and enjoy the beach and facilities available, it is still quaint though much building and has happened in the last 10 years.

Would recommend this part of the Algarve for a holiday

In the few years the Motorway has opened up from Faro through to Lagos and beyond so the journey from the airport now only takes 1 hour and this year tolls apply, no idea how we pay ...confusion seems to reign and we wait to see if the authorities will send us a bill for 16 Euro's!! as a consequence of this the motorway is deserted. The local traffic has reverted to the N125.

“Calm sea, v.touristy though”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

The beach itself is beautiful - the sea is a wonderful colour and there's not a wave in sight. Perfect for a family day out. The area itself is very popular with ex-pats so if you're looking for something more traditionally Portuguese this isn't the town for you.

“Relaxed with everything you need within a stones throw”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

This is a quiet place. Even with lots of folk around it's chilled out. The beach is big, clean and sandy. If you get tired of the peace, there's at least 2 companies on the beach running activities & excursions (we used "Chico time" to go see the caves - highly recommend it). We also visited Monchique with Portitours going cross country in jeeps with some really fun reps. Also, Lagos is about 4k away by local bus which costs €1.60. Back in Luz - We found about 10-15 restaurants in the town, mostly on the promenade, and a few bars. Entertainment generally involves a drum machine which is unfortunate - there is a lack of anything local - but I suspect this is by demand. It would be nice if there was more of an Algarvian feel about the place. Overall though, lovely people, constant sunshine, good food and prices are reasonable. Perfect for a chilled out break.
