“Nice apartments and nice resort but not quite as child friendly as you may think”
Just returned from a one week stay, party of three adults and two children, 9 months and 17 months booked through James Villas. We were very impressed with the actual apartment, very spacious and well appointed, nicely maintained with all mod cons and some nice added extras like toiletries, twice weekly cleaning and replenished loo roll and a starter pack of dishwasher tabs and washing powder capsules. The resort is nice, big wide beach, tidal but mostly calm water. Lovely promenade with lots of bars and restaurants where we had some really good food and excellent mojitos. There was a steady stream each evening of parents and pushchairs rumbling along hoping for sleep from the little ones but for those who didn't achieve this nirvana (us) many of the restaurants did takeaway food. Our only issues were with accessibility. Our three bed, three bath apartment was on the second (top) floor but bizarrely there was a flight of stairs before the lift could be accessed. The upstairs bedroom and bathroom were very spacious with own terrace but accessed via steep, open plan, toddler dangerous stairs and there was no means of safeguarding the top of the stairs. James Villas said they couldn't provide stair gates for 'health and safety' reasons ?! The open plan nature of the upstairs also means absolutely no sound proofing which could be an issue. The pools were very nice but again if you need to take your buggy you have to negotiate steps to get there. One other small gripe, absolutely no information about the resort or amenities provided in the apartment.
The resort also has accessibility issues, the pavements are often narrow and very uneven or non existent. The kerbs varied from 1 inch to 12 inches and there is boarding to access only a few parts of the beach with a pushchair otherwise you need to drag it through the sand.
A lovely resort, good food and lovely accommodation, just a few issues to consider and I'd think very carefully about going if you need wheelchair access or are pushchair dependant and without a friend to help you!
