5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

We chose Lindian Village from the internet for a relaxing vacation and were not sure what we would get since some of the reviews were not top. Lindian Village was a wonderful surprise in every aspect: the layout, gardens, the creek, the pool, the proximity to the beach and overall design were all magnificient and well maintained. AC was fine. The service was above and beyond - they were so helpful and polite. The food was plentiful, varied and generous. Our deal was half board and were told that only the main restaurant was included for dinner. We would only get a discount on the other restaurants if we chose to eat there. However, we had not asked our travel agent beforehand. Nevertheless, the food lacked nothing - there was even champagne at breakfast. The beach was delightful and relaxing - plenty of towels. There are recliners also located under the trees if you want shade. The only minor negative is that the wifi does not work in the room and there is not always mobile phone reception there. The pool was not heated and nobody went in since it was quite cool this October. Most of the time it was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop. We would definitely choose Lindian Village again, but would to share it with friends and/or family.

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor (4 steps) in the 400s - a perfect location, close to dining room, pool a...

Although Rhodes is not the type of island where you'd expect to find peace and quietness, Lindian Village is a fantastic exception. The "village" is a modern resort with various appartments, a central square, a large swimming pool, beautiful gardens, several restaurants and a private beach. The appartments offer guests a sense of luxery and privacy, but also at the beach and near the pool you can really find quiet places to retreat. Food is excellent (traditional Greek cuisine but without the greasy grilled stuff you often find in Greek restaurants in western Europe). Staff is friendly, helpful and multilingual. With the resort situated in a rural area and á la carte menus being quite pricey, I would recommend going "all inclusive"

Room Tip: The appartments with private pool and jacuzzi are really worth the extra money. However please note...

Check in experience over the top.
Very friendly and welcoming staff.
Room absolutely acceptable and big enough for a big family.
Cleanliness above average and prices in the main restaurant very logical.
The pool bar prices are a bit too high for the quality of the food but the quantity is good. Swimming pool options leave no family member de-satisfied and Sport activities are more than enough.
Sleeping experience on Coco-Mat mattresses is over the top.
Will come back!!

My husband and I had a short break here at the beginning of September, as we only went for 5 nights and it being my husbands birthday, we thought we'd push the boat out and book a private pool suite. We arrived at the resort and were warmly welcomed at reception, drinks, turkish delight etc, once checked in we were taken to our room, which was on first impression, fantastic! Nice large bedroom, lounge, large bathroom, safe, robes etc. The pool was the best bit, along with the outside table and chairs (although this was in the shade by mid-afternoon). Once we had settled and read our welcoming letter, we realised although we had booked "all-inclusive" we weren't able to have anything we wanted off the menu. For each a la carte restaurant you have to either pick meals marks with a "pear" or get 15 euros off of your bill. It was also noted that you could only have 3 meals per day. Drinks too were not all-inclusive. This was quite confusing as to what you could/couldn't have and the staff also didn't seem to understand it.
The first night we went to the Thai restaurant and the food/service was amazing. It was my husbands birthday and they bought out a birthday cake for him. Breakfast was a general buffet but busy and sometimes empty food trays.
We decided to have our meals delivered to our room and make the most of the suite/outside area. This was possible, but at a 7 euro per tray charge. We decided to go ahead and filled the breakfast form in, leaving it on the front door, placing our order for the next morning. Unfortuantely when we got up and checked the door, it was still there!
Also, we found, by eating breakfast, lunch and dinner outside in our suite, we attracted lots of mozzies, bugs and the biggest wasp/hornet things we've ever seen that sat on your plate and finished the food for you. We went to the onsite shop to by some citronella candles, but they didn't stock them, so we asked at reception. The next day we received a candle but for a suite with an outside area, this really should be supplied automatically.
Also the wi-fi was shockingly slow and we only got a reception if we sat out by the pool.
Overall, the resort was OK, expensive if you weren't "semi all-inclusive" and with the beach being stone chips not sand, we would have hated it if we hadn't booked a pool suite.

Dear valued guest,

First and foremost, I would like to thank you for your comments and assure you that we look upon them with outmost respect and eagerness to improve our product.

We are trying to be as clear as possible with our various board policies but unfortunately when information is not conveyed only by us to our customers, certain misunderstandings might arise. The board basis which you are referring to is the “Pear Club” which is not a normal all-inclusive package. “Pear Club” is a full board+ package with superior quality food & beverages unlike the usual all inclusive provisions. To ensure the transparency of our policies and eradicate any misunderstanding, we provide an explanatory letter with every arrival so that each guest will know his/her “rights” within the package that they chose.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by the natural fauna of the surroundings but as part of our environmental policy and respect to our environmentally conscious guests, we tend to keep open-air disinfections at a minimum level.

Thank you very much once again and I hope we will be able to accommodate you in the future and ensure that there are no more short comes in regards to your standards.

Hubby and I have just returned from a ten day stay at the Lindian Village where we stayed on an all inclusive basis. We were greeted at reception by the staff and a wonderful cool lemon drink with Turkish Delight and a glass of the local liqueur. We were then taken on a tour of the hotel by golf buggy and even though we had booked a Mediterranean Deluxe Room we were upgraded to a junior suite with our own jacuzzi (Room 867). The room was lovely and it was great having our own private veranda area overlooking the "river" which flows through the village. Our room was cleaned every day, as was the jacuzzi and the mini bar refilled once a day. We received fresh flowers each morning and each evening together with a small gift, such as chocolates, bottled water etc. We also had fresh flowers in our room every other day. We had a tv and dvd player in our room and it was disappointing that for a Five Star Hotel the only English Channel was BBC World News which has to be the worst channel ever, CNN and Euro News. Sky News was available but never seemed to work - always freezing and some days we could not get it at all. The bathroom was a little dated but we had two sinks, a bath and a good size shower with a "jungle" shower head - the free toiletries were very good and there were plenty of them including slippers and bath robes were also provided. As well as fresh towels for the bathroom you were also supplied with separate towels for the jacuzzi and again for the beach area. The flowers and foliage around the Village are lovely and the whole village is very clean. The staff were all very attentive, all spoke English and nothing was ever too much for them - especially Marius in the restaurant. The two pools are clean and there were plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. The pool bar again is clean and there is plenty of tables and chairs in the sun and the shade. We ate in the main restaurant each evening and this came in the form of a buffet, with a couple of theme evenings such as classic Greek and Polynesian. The breakfasts consisted of the usual, eggs, bacon, toast, juice, yoghurts, boiled eggs, cereals and plenty of soup. You were also served freshly squeezed orange juice or coffee at your table and you could have tea if you wanted - there was a huge choice of fruit teas, herbal teas, Earl Grey, Breakfast tea etc. Omelettes, fried eggs and pancakes were made to order and there was also a large selection of bread rolls, bread, cakes, muffins and toast. Lunch was again buffet style and consisted of fresh salad with various cheeses and cold meats and a selection of cooked meat and pasta etc and a good selection of fruit and desserts. The evening meal consisted of freshly cooked meat/fish again with a large selection of salads, cheese, cold meats and various other cooked meats and fish with noodles, pasta, rice etc,. Again there was a good selection of desserts, fruit and ice cream. The food could be repetitive and there was a lot of pork and chicken served and the pre-cooked food kept in silver serving dishes was quite often luke warm and there was a severe shortage of fresh vegetables. We had room service one lunch time on the veranda and the quality and heat of the food was much improved and I would recommend this - on the all inclusive package you have a good choice of food from the menu for room service and the only additional charge is 7 euros for delivery - well worth the price. The bar in the piazza outside the restaurant opened at 6pm until around midnight and the taped music played was repetitive - we heard the same songs night after night. Entertainment was laid on some nights and this was poor - the "jazz" night consisted of a bloke with a laptop playing music which some other bloke playing along to on the Saxophone. The biggest disappointment however was the beach - I appreciate that Rhodes is not known for its sandy beaches but this one is not good, reminded me of a builders yard somehow - horrid, gritty stone which was impossible to walk on as so sharp and hot! It would have been ideal if duck boards could have been put at certain points down the beach to the sea as getting in and out of the sea was a nightmare - so painful. Once you got past the smaller sharp stones you were then confronted by larger slime covered stones in the deeper waters - not easy getting in or out and at other resorts I have been to duck boards or indeed "piers" had been provided making your entrance and exit into the sea more ladylike than the one I gave onlookers! Another down side is the location - there is no where for you to stroll in the evening outside of the Hotel as you are surrounded by "fields" and apart from one small shop which is two minutes away and which sells very little, there is not much on offer. We were lucky in that we had hired a car so could drive to wherever in the evening but had we not had this it would have been extremely repetitive each evening just sitting in the piazza bar - the bus stop is a ten minute walk away from the hotel and the drive to Lindos is around 15 minutes. Overall we had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday but would not rate this hotel as Five Star and I cant help but wonder what my review would have been had we not had the upgrade.
