“NOT a 5 star hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

Just came back from a family holiday. we spent 5 days at this hotel. The beach was very nice, but the hotel itself was a disaster... the maintenance level is very low, the food was a disaster and the overall impression was very bad. I personally prefer staying in low cost hotels, but when I pay for a 5-star hotel I expect to get one...

My wife and I recently stayed here for 3 nights and let me start off by saying that this is not a 5 star hotel. 3.5 stars perhaps, however keep in mind that overall compared to other places in lardos this is in fact much better. Overall I won't recommend this place

Let me break down this further.

Service: average nothing special. The cleaning staff needs to learn to knock.
Food: below average. The a la carte restaurants had no variety and it was basically recycled buffet lunch. Can you also imagine a 5 star resort whose a la carte restauarants did not have any wine selection! Just your simple tap wine. And they don't even have Metaxa available.
Facilities: above average, there are plenty of swimming pools for kids to play
Beach: not too bad but keep in mind that there are pebbles everywhere ( seems to be the case in Rhodes in general)
Getting there from the airport is pretty expensive by cab about 65 euros. You can take a bus from rodos town which takes about an hour without traffic but it costs 5 euros per person.

There were a lot of families with children and they seem to be ok but if you don't have kids and want to hang out... This is definitely not the place for you. Also if you are a foodie and love Greek food you will not enjoy the buffet selection as the only thing Greek about it was the feta cheese. We ate out in lardos town at a great place called valentinos.

The sea was splendid, but the hotel was one of the worst ever, were so happy to be home. If you want to be herded into an "all inclusive" vacation, where you dont even get a shampoo, and only cheap substitiutes are given for your favorite drinks, huge queue for main courses at meals (we ended up eating outside), the strong smell of mould in the room (to their credit, after the first night they gave us a better room) and loud volgar music everywhere, this is the place for you!
I never met a hotel with so many rules and immense bureaucracy, but nothing is wriitten or explained in advance, so you continue to guess and work for your basics needs, as if being a guest in there is an extra job.
Fore example, here's the towel saga. Getting to the beach we learned you get them at the reception (quite a long way) so we gave them up- let the sun do its trick. Next time we went to the reception, they told us we need to pay a deposit of 10 euros for each towel. We didnt carry our wallets (and gues what, the room is quite far) so we postponed it again. Finally we came with the money, we were given a card, and with it had to go to another office, but than the other one was closed. When we finally got the towel, we couldn't get our deposit back because after returning the towel, getting back the card and going back to the reception, we were told we were suposed to save the receipt from the other office. By than we started to laugh, next time well take a vacation at the tax office.

Room Tip: Dont go there

Stayed there in May 2012. This was my first visit to Grece and the hotel made the impression to be as good as it can.

Beautiful and interesting architecture, picturesque pool system and very helpful and friendly staff. The rooms are well-furnitured, not new, but very good condition. Had an amazing bathroom with a window to bedroom - an original solution. Lots of space to store stuff and clothes.

La Luna restaurant is clean, spacious and solemnly appointed. The choice of foods is not very wide, but the quality good. The personnel work very fast and professionally.

A suggestion for a hotel management - please consider including more local cuisine in menu and make the lunch basket not so poor - an apple and one sandwich is ridiculous even for a 3-star hotel.

The overal rating is excellent, this is the place where we definitely will come back.

I will try and keep this as brief but as informative as possible.

I am a travel agent based in the UK and have travelled all over the world viewing and staying in various properties to be able to recommend to my clients & this hotel is definatly in my top 5!

The hotel is set on lovely grounds, with supermarkets just up the road at the front of the hotel, the beach at the back of the hotel with a shop & watersports. Cheap watersports at that.

We arrived on 9th May 2012 for a 7 night stay at around 3pm, we was quickly checked in to our two rooms with side sea view - room 608 & 609. We was all given cold drinks on arrival.. we had 3 young children who found it very warm!!

Our rooms were clean & tidy and the maid visited daily to replace used towels, mop the floors, and make the beds. Compared to most hotels I have stayed in the size of the room was massive & the balcony was also a perfect size.

The childrens pool is shallow, and it is had the childrens pool bar so adults can sit and watch and have a drink & ice cream. Ice cream is served at this pool bar, as and when you want it, you just help yourself. The pool bar also offers afternoon snacks, such as salads, breads, hot dogs, burgers etc.

The hotel has various pools throughout, the one I loved was on the beach, a little pool around 1metre deep and as you are sat on your sunbed you are looking out to sea, perfect.

The hotel has themed nights in the resturant, italian, greek & arabic. You have to pre book these atleast 1 day before hand but all worth a visit.

All the staff at the hotel are friendly and the Chef in the main resturant could not do enough for us. We have very fussy children and he would make them whatever they asked for.

The meals were varied on a day to day basis, huge selection of food so there is no way you could get bored of the food here.
At meal times there was always a selection of breads, salads & vegetables. Along side this they also offered various dishes such as turkey, lamb, beef, fish, kebabs, pasta & much more. Then we move on to desert, around 6 puddings to choose from every day and this again is varied. Cant say I ever saw a pudding more than twice being served. Always different options.

The beach is lovely with plenty of sunbeds for all the hotel guests so you do not have the problem of people putting towels down and not being able to get a bed after you have been for breakfast.

The hotel has a selection of things going on in the evening, they really do cater for everyone.

The hotel is just over an hour from the airport, really well sign posted & is basically one road from Rhodes to Lardos. Would definatly recommend car hire so you can explore Rhodes. The hotel can provide lunch baskets as part of your all inclusive if you fancied a day in Rhodes Town shopping... truely amazing, however we forgot where we parked and got lost. The place is HUGE!

Lindos town has a lovely little shopping area, all cobbled streets with little shops selling various things from curtains to your usual holiday presents for the family.

Lardos town is the closest and has plenty of bars, resturants & shops. We visited Lardos one evening and we saw a group of local children having a water fight in the street, all the children passing got involved (including ours) and it was lovely to see such friendly children welcoming people into their area.

All in all this is a perfect location for a holiday & would definatly recommend this hotel. The all inclusive is worth every penny. We are in the process of arranging our next trip to Costa Lindia and cannot wait.

Thank you very much to Alexandros (General Manager) and all the staff for making us feel so welcome and making our holiday one of the best we have had yet.

See you in later in 2012 or 2013.

Even though we have not had a bad holiday,( indeed my husband and I have had a "relaxing" break with our 3 small children), we would not return here in a hurry! Whilst the hotel is clean it is quite basic definitely not 4 star! Our room was the split level family variety and was nice! With the exception of a few staff ( namely a great chef who cooked our children food not available and a few Romanian workers), the general manor was quite abrupt, miserable and at times rude! As it was the last week of the season a lot of the hotel was closing whilst we were there meaning the services and options we had paid for in our all inclusive break were not available! The beach was dirty and the beach bar one day had no soft drinks available, soft drinks are also of the high sugar variety no light options available even at a charge. They also stock no tonic water! The food was ok not the "show cooking" promised in the literature, we did however have pizza one night and Greek food at the 2 different restaurants on the only night they were open. The kids club was great however it closed on the Thursday before we left Saturday evening, again we weren't told of this prior to booking! Overall a great holiday but a bit disappointed with where we stayed.
