The Armonia Bay Hotel is located a couple of kilometres outside of Kokkari, a lovely small town on the north coast of Samos. It is located above the Tsamadou Beach which is regarded as one of the best beaches on Samos. Access to the beach is by descending steps or a steep road within 50 metres of the hotel. There are a number of clubs and tavernas at the beach.
The Armonia Bay is not a 5 Star Hotel - it doesn't have a lot of the features of an internationally branded hotel, but that is not why people repeatedly go there.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are simple, not overly large, but are comfortable and bright. We stayed in two seaview rooms on the first floor (second floor for those who count the ground floor as the first floor) - rooms 21 and 22. These rooms have fantastic views over the bay and towards Turkey. There are no interconnecting rooms.
The bathrooms were effectively wet rooms with good quality showers in them. There were frosted glass doors to each bathroom.
The double beds can be made up as twins by the use of separate bedding on the twin mattresses. Our children (aged 14 and 16) were happy with this arrangement, however if physical separation of the beds is required this may be an issue.
My wife and I did have a problem with the mattress being too soft, but when we raised this it was resolved by the mattress being turned onto the hard side.
We also had a problem with the air-conditioning not working effectively, however this was, again, resolved promptly.
There is free wifi in the hotel along with free access to an Apple computer in a public space.
Breakfast is a buffet and is European in style which, given its largely Austrian, German, Dutch and Scandinavian clientele, makes sense. The breakfast is not what you would get from an international chain e.g. there is no short order chef and eggs are available scrambled every day. Breakfast is self-service e.g. guests squeeze their own oranges using an electronic juicer and help themselves to tea and coffee. You are also expected to clear your table and leave it close to the kitchen. Breakfast is taken on the terrace and by the pool. In the heat of summer not all of the tables are in the shade.
There is no restaurant in the hotel. There are however plenty of restaurants in Kokkari which is a 5 Euro/5 minutes taxi ride away. The hotel will book taxis for you which take no longer than 5 minutes to arrive from the town.
There is a good size swimming pool, which is always quiet with beds available, probably because the sea is so inviting. There is also a table tennis table by the pool. There is a bright, airy bar near to the pool.
The hotel sits in well maintained grounds and from most parts of the hotel there is the beautiful view of the bay.
The staff were friendly and helpful with one manager on in the morning and one in the afternoon/evening. The hotel owner was also on site during our stay and was friendly and helpful.
This is definitely a lovely boutique hotel that we will return to. We had a lovely, relaxing stay and would highly recommend this hotel. This may not come over clearly from the review, however I believe it is important to manage expectations to avoid disappoinment.

Please note that our COCOMAT beds are of the highest quality made exclusively from natural materials without metal springs. These mattresses (ATLAS series) have the advantage that the other side is harder than the standard one and so we are able to satisfy people who wish a hard bed.
