A great day out but lack of staff and food outlets closed is not a good sign. Also some rides don't run all day even in high season. The shows are great and its still a good day out but advise to pack a picnic and be prepared to spend all day so you catch all the rides, as some not open til afternoon.
Our kids do love dolphins during our holidays in Portugal we made a dolphin watching trip in a boat!! And we were recommended to visit Zoomarine in albufeira! And is definitely an amazing day out for the kids!! Its amazing all the shows !! If you wish to swimn with the dolphins we recommend to book in advance because it gets really busy during the summer months!!
I have been twice to the Zoomarine, but took my granddaughter here last March. Should have bought on line as it is cheaper but didn't have the time. Definitely plan your trip around the shows are they are the best thing espcially the Dolphins, great entertainment and the children love it. also the birds of prey spectacle etc. The chilldren also like the other attractions like the swings etc but entrance is by size. There are animals to see like the crocodiles, aligators, geese and the parrots, lovely picnic areas and there is a huge pool for those who like swimming, although at the time the water attrraction was not open as it was only spring. so check before you go if that is what you are going for. If you plan to go into the village of Guia, then you will be rewarded by the traditional portugese frango piri piri dishes that are famous in this regions. The locals from Lisbon come here at the weekends to frequent the restaurants just to eat this dish.

Lovely place, good dolphin and sea lion shows. Animals are well looked after. Must do in Albufieira.
