“A last minute escape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2011

After a warm welcome from Panos (Taxi and Helena's son) we were showed to our room (No 2 on the gound floor at the roadside). The room was exactly as we'd expeted: comfortable with the essentials provided.
We met Taxi and Helena later the first day. They are an amazing, hardworking couple who put their hearts and souls into making sure all their guests have a wonderful stay; and we certainly did.
The hotel facilities are great: there is a wonderful, small outdoor pool which has poolside beds, parasols, chairs and tables available. The poolside bar offers excellent food and drink from early to late.
In sum, a very warm welcome from a wonderfully friendly family.

Room Tip: Ask your operator for a room with a view.

We stayed here in June 2010 me my girlfield our daughter and a friend. We had one of the two Maisonettes by the pool and my m8 had a two bed room in the main block. The Maisonette was a good size for us with a small/private patio ground floor balcony at back with a table and chairs it is an open plan style apartment my daughter slept on the upstairs mezz area, we had two singles. The kitchen is really only a sink with hotplate and kettle but we were expecting that and was not a problem.Bathroom with shower all typical greek style, if you want four star luxury this is not the place but if you want friendly and close to everything with a nice small pool this is it.The bar and the owners taxi and his wife ellen are what really make this place nothing is too much trouble and we felt at home as soon as we arrived. My friend arrived before us on an earlier flight and was made welcome when we got there he was having a beer with taxi and if he had looked any more relaxed he would have been horizontal.Every day the bar is run by ellen her food is lovely try the meatballs and at night taxi takes over, we had a drink with him everyday before heading off into town for a meal some great restaurants to be found,
Lyhnari which is not far from the apartments is very good also my m8 loved the coffee and breakfast at portobello on Papadiamanti Street pleanty of reviews on trip adviser look them up also Captain Michaelos in the koukanaries area was good, while in that are make sure you go to agustera bar there cocktails were excellent and the biggest ive ever had lol and the snacks were good.We enjoyed skaithos so much we are going back for two weeks in august 2011 could,nt bood taxi this year as was full but will pop in for a drink. Thanks taxi for the best holiday i have ever had.Mr Vranas and Johnson.

Room Tip: bbq sliced pineapple then pour rum on it!!!!!!

Myself and a friend booked our holiday to Skiathos through Thomas Cook, and unfortunately, at the time I had a broken ankle but my cast was due to come off before the holiday. Because of this fact, we requested a ground floor apartment at this hotel. When we arrived, we were given a top floor apartment, and as there was no lift, it was a struggle for me to get up them. We went down to the family who own the apartments, and kindly requested to Taxi's wife if it would be possible to be moved, as the stairs were such a trial for myself and I was having to take paracetomol every few hours because of the pain, unfortunately, she told us there were no available rooms, and our only option would be to request a move through our Olympic rep. Our Olympic rep told us we could only be moved out of town, it would cost us 30 euros for admin costs and an extra 15 euros per night, as well as the cab cost to take us back into town, so because of this, our rep negotiated with the Taxiarchis apartment staff that we would receive free air conditioning for the weeks duration of the stay as a goodwill gesture for them being unable to move us. We happily accepted this, and sang their praises to our family and friends because it was such a nice gesture, and it made our stay much more bearable, however, the next day, on returning from a boat trip to neighbouring islands, we got back into our room and it was incredibly hot, which was strange as we left our air conditioning on when we left so it would be cool on our return. We looked everywhere for the remote control for the air conditioning unit but could not find them, then we noticed the unit was actually completley turned off. We went downstairs into the bar area, and spoke to the young man who worked at the hotel (Taxi's son), we asked him if the air conditioning had been taken out and he rudley replied that yes it had, the big boss didn't agree to it in the end so they took it out. It's their hotel, not our hotel and they can do what they like. Obviously, we were stunned at his reaction and the way he spoke to us, especially considering if that was the case, why not wait for us to get back from our day trip and speak to us about the situation? There was absolutely no courtasy at all, and for two young girls in our early twenties, it would have been nice to have felt at least slightly looked after. As we had money etc in our room also, as it was their hotel, could they have helped themselves to that too? In our whole stay, we never met Taxi, nor did we have any experience of the "nice family who will do anything to make your stay more comfortable", we felt unwelcome from the moment we arrived. After what we were told about the air conditioning and the way we were spoken to and treated, we packed our cases and left for a different hotel we found on the harbour front. It cost us 250 euros, and to be honest, it was the best 250 euros i've ever spent. In addition, the rooms are small, dark, dirty, noisy and unkept. All in all, all I can suggest is DO NOT STAY AT THE TAXIARCHIS!! (Stay at the Hotel Akti on the harbour front instead - clean large basic rooms, free air conditioning, TV, lovely staff, and possibly the best most thourough cleaner on the planet!)

Myself, 3 kids (2 teenagers), and grandparents stayed at the taxiarchis, the room was fab, the kids loved the dorma thing, the taxiarchis family could not have done enough for us, they even bought the children gifts when we were leaving, it such a enjoyable relaxing family holiday and these apartments and the family made it that way. people who stayed there had been going there for years and years. i would reccomend it to anyone. In act i will be back there in Aug 2010 and cannot wait.

We stayed at Taxiarchis on our second trip to Skiathos, during which we got married. We were given a room which didn't have a balcony, and although there was nothing wrong with the room I love a balcony. We asked to be moved, if possible, and we were delighted that they could do this for us. We went to the bbq which happens weekly and it was fantastic! The food was gorgeous and plentiful, and it was a great way to meet people, several of whom came to greet us on our wedding day! It was just a lovely atmosphere all round, our hosts were wonderful and had scattered petals on the bed, put wine and flowers in the room and left a lovely card on the day of our wedding. It was a lovely surprise and nothing was ever too much trouble for them and their son. The location was perfect, the pool was a decent size and we just had a fantastic time! If you are looking for a somewhere close to everything with a relaxed atmosphere I couldn't recommend this place more! :-)

Having been back to Skiathos town on 5 occasions and stayed at the Taxiarchis 4/5 i would recommend these apartments to anyone. Apartments are in ideal location to explore the islands main towns cafes. restaraunts, bars and clubs, beaches and beyond
Taxiarchis and Eleni who own the apartments will do anything to help their guests, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms as cleaned daily to a good standard, they adore children and the BBQ night held most weeks is amazing food and great value, all homemade by the owners.
Location - could not be better. 2 minutes walk to the bus stop which runs every 20 mins at least to length of the island, 5 minutes to resort centre, 10 minutes to harbour and 5 minutes to town beach (not the best beach by a long way - explore all the wonderful beaches this island has to offer).
Last year we travelled with around 15 family and friends who all stayed at Taxiarchis with no complaints, ages ranged from 6 months to 77 years who all loved the island and the apartments).
