“So nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

Big rooms with thick greenery. Fortunate to select this hotel for my vacation. I was surprised to know from the hotel staff that this hotel chain is being run by a 90+ year old south indian army captain. he has best vision. great for foreigners staying in Goa. though the prices are higher this hotel will not disappoint you.

After a heavy week of sightseeing in India we flew to Goa to this comfortable luxury Hotel.
Arrivng in early November the "season" was just beginning. We had a lovely ground floor room with balcony overlooking a logoon ( No bug problems throughtout the trip!) and fairly close to the hotel. Always cleaned to perfection and with good turn down service in the evening. Most of the guests prefer the sandy whilte beach ( and why not?) but this time we preferred to stay round the pool which I found prefect, even for my daily lengths. It might not be a lap pool but its wide enough for "lappers". Lovely comfortable sun loungers , loads of natural shade or unbrellas. beatuiful spa with sauna and steam as well as a more than adequte gym, all well manned and constantly pristine.
I enjoyed my daily half hour on the free bikes.
I am fussy with my breakfast, but it would be hard to find fault. They even had the All bran wheat flakes, bananas and semi skimmmed milk. There was a big selection of breads (granary french etc) , a whole Indian section, fresh fruit section with various juices, smoothies, freshly cooked eggs, omlettes, pancakes.. A full range of coffees, my wife had her Green tea and i had my double expresso- and when it got cold, it was replaced. Yes It was the same every day but you could eat a different breakfast every day if you wanted to!
We did not eat dinner in the hotel. 5 star hotels are similar wherever you go. There were lots of local places and lthough I was careful not to eat salad out, I had no trouble with eating outside in the various restaurants on the beach and by or near the Hotel. My wife enjoyed a couple of massage treatments in the hotel which were costly but which she enjoyed.
The staff are friendly and willing to help. The grounds are gardens are lovely.
There's no much to do in this area but we really needed a few days to relax at the end of our holiday and this was the perfect place to do it. We had all the tv stations we needed ( man united of course). We didnt venture more than a mile from the hotel all week.
The sea was warm as a bath.

We stayed in 2008 and ever since remember that vacation as one of the best ! Leela was recommended by friends and we are now even better friends :)))) many say it is the best in the area. I haven't been to any other resorts there and therefore cannot judge but you really relax and enjoy at Leela and than what is the difference if it is the best or not ???
We stayed at luxury bungalow and it was huge with two rooms and two bathrooms, great balcony etc. perfect cleaning service and you get all help with luggage and things from the minute you arrive till the final good-buy. The territory is big but you can call for a buggy (we preferred to walk).
The restaurant is great but a bit pricy, we used shacks around - tasty, cheap and clean.
The best of the best experiences - must do:
- spa !!! - try massage called sirudaru (can be wrong in spelling) - they pour warm oil on your forehead ! This is amazing !!!
- do not by scrooge - you are at the best hotel after all - get a bottle of moet and celebrate the sun-set and go swimming when the sun will touch he water - it will be your memory for years after.

Now, the downsides: we were attacked by sand flies. This is awful - all legs were in bites and they were aching for weeks even after we got home !!! Be careful, use anti-flies sprays, check the sun beds and the place around before you stop - sand-flies live in colonies and do not move far from the place they are settled.

So, best place and recommended !!!!

Room Tip: Careful - sand flies are very small but very dangerous !!!

My Husband chose this as our honeymoon location - and what an experience! Fantastic surroundings, friendly and fantastic staff. We went off season but had a thoroughly enjoyable time. We had and all inclusive package in a lagoon suite with everything you could possibly think of. We traveled in June 2009 (not 2012 but I didn't have the option to change the year).

This property truly lives upto to Leela Standards. The lagoon suite was awesome. The rooms were truly resplendant. Service by the Hotel staff was very warm and personalised. The activity center for children was also well equipped to keep them busy. The breakfast spread was huge. Weather was the icing on the cake. Overall we had a very relaxing and memorable stay. This is definitely one of the best properties of Goa.

Room Tip: The Lagoon suite are the best rooms and well equipped. Also they are newly renovated.

We had to planned to visit South Africa for watching the Champions League t20 , but had to change plans the last minute due to late arrival of visas. I must say we were lucky to get such a bargain of a price for the stay ( 5 nights) which was just before the charter season.
We had booked the Lagoon Suite which was way beyond "Awesomeness".Don't get fooled by the look of the exterior of the buildings. Great interior work. Service was awesome. We are vegetarians , and so had asked the staff to wash the plates twice ( it smelled of seafood the first day). Every Day the request was remembered. Very good activities in the resort , including the wonderful crystal clean beach.Breakfast was the main "Awesome" feature of our stay , very good choice of cuisines..
We will return !!
