There are so many places to choose from in south Goa to stay, don't bother with the Holiday Inn, try the Radisson or Leela Kepinski instead. Whilst the Holiday Inn is in a lovely idyllic location with easy access to the beach and a great swimming pool, there seems to be a strange culture. We build rapport easily with staff when we stay places, and during our trip in India found this the case everywhere, except here, it's a strange vibe which is not helped by the poor service we found throughout the hotel. On a few occasions we sat in the Fig &Olive bar, staff would walk past me, wouldn't even acknowledge me, let alone serve me, so in each occasion I gave up. Went down to Leela's instead where the service was great.
The foyer and the pool look great on arrival, but walking into our pool view room was very disappointing to say the least, rooms are basic, tired but clean, still not what you would expect from The Holiday Inn Resort Brand.
We thought we would try breakfast as it wasn't included, and ordered off the a la carte menu after checking out the buffet which was appalling, didn't look at all fresh. The drinks took forever and when they arrived my husbands Americano coffee was actually a cappuccino, and then the food, well I never, the poached eggs were so over cooked you could have bounced them, and my American pancakes were cold pikelets that had obviously come from the buffet (nothing fresh about them) with nothing....no butter or syrup as described on the menu. Needless to say we refused to eat this and went out instead.
We did enjoy a meal at the Beach Grill on our first evening, so thought one night we couldn't go wrong with a bit of room service. How wrong, and let down we were, it pains us to have to pay for it, we played it safe & stuck to curry and dal, the house favourites, but the food that turned up was lukewarm and lacked any real flavour. We crossed our fingers all night that this wouldn't give us a dodgy belly!
Each time you speak to the staff, they struggle to understand you, and the first question is 'what is your room number', stop asking! It's not even relevant to the question. They seem to be "busy fools" with no idea in solving the most basic questions without speaking to another 3 people who all give a different answer.
Booked the shuttle to the airport, and then when we turned up they tried to tell us it wasn't running, that you have to book! Finally sorted that, but it was not surprising as we certainly had no confidence in any of the staff.
I did get a massage at the spa, and I have to say that was brilliant!
Tip- head up to the Radisson and have a delicious iced coffee, and use their free wifi ( Holiday inn charges for this) and a bit further past the Radisson, 200m on right, try Bob's Varasi, a little restaurant that does superb food and super cold beers, all very reasonably priced and very hygienic.
Betty's beach shack to the left as you head out on the beach serves great food too! Open from 9am for delicious breakfast, try the pancakes.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the pool, lovely during the day, but noisy at night when the unnecessary en...

I stayed for two night and three days with my wife. The hotel is real five star resort, highly recommended for family vacations, very nice and decorated lobby, good spacious rooms, good and spacious baths, 24 hrs power backup, peaceful and very comfortable sleep. Good swimming pool , good gym and spa, very good breakfast specially south Indian menu. Free pick up from airport, complimentary soft drink/ water/ chilled beer. Only negative point is long distance from airport , about one and half hour journey. Have nice , clean , personal beach also. We enjoy very much and had Excellent Experience. Highly Recommended.

Room Tip: The rooms on sea side are good and have excellent views.

Airport pickup
Good. They have ac coaches to take you to the hotel.

Check in -
Super smooth with a welcome drink.

Location -

An amazing property in south Goa with its own private beach. An ideal place and away from the hustle bustle.

Rooms -
A bit outdated but good.

Food -
Amazing. Six different places / restaurants within the property. Tried Mardi gras and sundowner lounge. Both were good from a taste and service perspective

Activities within the hotel -
The hotel has an activity chart for each day of the week. The activities will keep you occupied for the entire day.

Staff -
Friendly and kind.

Hotel arranged trip -
Ok. They cover three locations in Goa (Ancient shiv temple, Old Goa church and Dona Paula). You may want to skip this. Instead take the Activa and explore other beaches in South Goa.

Cons -
Lot of weddings / functions are arranged in the hotel premises which at times become noisy.

Room Tip: Take swimming pool facing room on the first floor

Happened to spend 4D and 3N at Holiday Inn Resort Goa. What a fabulous experience. The Property, The Beach, The Ambience, The Room, The Food and most importantly The Staff - AMAZING. Me , my wife and my kids were back in Delhi on 17th Feb'13 and planning for another visit asap. Do visit this place if you want to ENJOY. Biswanath Sengupta, Dwarka, New Delhi.

Room Tip: All rooms would be good since the hotel management is world class.

Really a big mess of a place, very noisy, it spoils the pleasure of going for a beach holiday.
lots of weddings going on, and when there is a wedding people turn nasty. The guard treating us like criminals just because we wanted to cross over and get to the beach?! The service is that of a big hotel, varied. Sometimes you get a nice smiling person, often they forget about you, and they try to please you only with the purpose of getting a tip.
