Stayed here for one week in May and was stunned by the location! Any closer to the beach and it would be a floating hotel! Staff are friendly and service is fantastic. Would highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is perfect for a relaxing beach and pool holiday. In the centre of the small Cretan resort of Almyrida it is perfect for families (couples might like the slightly more expensive residence across the road but the same staff and owners and excellent service and facilities). Dinner on the roof terrace at the residence is a must with fabulous sea and mountain views. Women can be pampered in the spa facility and there are loads of great tavernas and bars within a couple of minutes walk. The hotel's pool bar is excellent with really good food and excellent value-for-money prices. The main pool is very child friendly but for adults-only there is a rooftop pool at the residence. The beautiful old city of Chania is only a bus ride away and if you hire a car the whole of Crete is within reach. Almyrida beach itself is probably the best and safest in the whole Apokoronas region but other slightly wilder and less crowded beaches are only minutes away, It would be wrong to go there and not venture into the mountains and explore some of the real unspoiled Cretan villages.

We stayed at the Almyrida Beach in September.
The hotel is spotless the staff brilliant nothing too much trouble always on hand with a smile and a hello.
At first we thought that this hotel and resort was probably going to be a bit too quite for us but we were very wrong. The setting is lovely just across the road from the beach were the sea was lovely and warm unlike the swimming pools at the hotel which to be honest were just too cold!! Maybe we are whimps !!
All around the small resort you feel very relaxed and safe no looking over your shoulder here, there is a nice selection of restaurants to choose from and very well priced.
Back to the hotel itself it is a warm and friendly place and as the title very relaxing, the pool areas are well maintained and never a problem getting a sunbed no matter what time of day.
We stayed half board and the food was mostly good although we did eat out a few times as that is what we enjoy doing the restaurant itself was nice especially the tables in the covered garden, as a reviewer has already stated not at all like a canteen (thank goodness) as that is a hate of mine.
The hotel bedrooms are not the largest we have stayed in and maybe a little dated and a we bit too dark but comfortable and as with the rest of the hotel spotless, clean towels everyday and sheets changed regularly, the girls who clean the rooms do wonderful things with towels etc puts a great smile on your face and are friendly to boot.
Just one critism the balconies are very small and not very private but hay-ho a least you get to know your neighbours.
On the whole a lovely holiday was had thank you Almyrida. We really did not want to leave.
P.S. The fact that you can hire pool and beach towels for 1 euro which by the way are very good quality MAGIC.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room as the rooms at the back over look a busy road also we opted for one of the...

The hotel is located at a nice beach. However, the hotel itself is not so good. The room had a small bathroom with a ugly shower curtain. Breakfast was fine, but has to be taken at the hotel next door. Dinner is quite good, but repeats itself after two weeks.

We stayed at the sister hotel the Residence Boutique hotel, which was great. Rooms are large and super clean, breakfast & dinner are huge and fresh (with changing menus every day!). Location is superb, in the middle of the beautiful village of Almyrida. The beach is great, although it's a shame that you have to pay for sunbeds although being a guest of the hotel.

Service is great - every member of staff seems to do his best at all times.

You can't do much better than this!

This is how holidays should be.

Firstly a mention to the town- This was like going back in time, in a nice way, the beachside tarverns are very like the kind you would now find in small towns in the caribeen. The beech is the most child friendly I have ever come across.

Now to the hotel- We were in the almyrida beach hotel which was spotlessly clean and only moments from the beach- On a completely flat walk to it and all through the small town (about 7 taverns still open in start of october). Our room was very nicely furnished with a seating area that had a sofa, 2 chairs and a cofee table. It also had a newish fridge and flat screen TV. Aircon was included in the price. It was the end of season so all food was served in the new sister hotel across the rd/carpark. This new hotel has the better dining room and would usualy cost a supplement of 5 euros to eat at. This was the first hotel resturant that I have ever eaten in that did not feal like a canteen- We are not fans of buffet hotel food and would usualy just skip most meals and eat out, however, the food here was very nice and more importantly to us the outdoor seating area felt relaxed and more restuarant like than most hotel buffets. Also I need to eat gluten free, the staff here were very organised (I had emailed ahead) and when I arrived at the dining room I was met and shown the dishes I could eat, they even provide an extra potato dish when the ones on the buffet contained gluten (even though rice dishes were still available). They had bought in gluten free bread for my breakfast.

The beach hotel guests can use all the facilities of the sister hotel. On it's roof terrace was lovely seating area with great view of the bay and also the aldults only roof pool with very nice padded sunloungers. The staff of both hotels were very friendly.

Now the only other thing I would add is that I would definately pay the supp for a sea or pool view room as at the back of both hotels there a few rooms that I would not want to have been in. They are level with a road bridge and I am almost sure that you could reach out from them and touch the cars that pass.
We will be returning to this place

We toured crete for 15 nights and stayed at the
Alykes in Elounda- 5 nights -this was a little bb which was also fantastic and elounda/ spinalonga are both worth a visit
Mitsis Laguna resort and spa in Aniassaras (5 nights)- The was a 'wow' resort and if you are looking for as near to a five star 'all inclusive' resort as you will ever get in greece - akin to those in mexico/ domin as it was fully all in including water sports - then this is the place- its surounding area is nothing to write home about and other than a trip to both kinossos and sissi there is nothing else to see nearby so best for a hotel based stay. Even though it was wow- and we couldn't fault it - we much prefered both the Alykes in Elounda and the Almyrida beach.

I will put photos on as soon as possible

Room Tip: make sure and pay for the pool/sea view

We spent a week here at the end of September 2012 and would highly recommend it. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They all spoke English and couldn’t do enough to help you. We arrived late at night and there was cold food waiting for us in the fridge in our room. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean throughout. There was a small lending library of English books in the foyer for general use. Our bed was a little hard but the room was lovely and tastefully decorated, the free wi-fi did not extend to all rooms but was good in public areas. We loved the place and wouldn’t hesitate in coming back again.

We were on a half board basis and the breakfast was across the car park on the terrace of the Almyrida Residence. There was a good variety in the self-serve buffet for breakfast and you could easily eat something different every day. Evening meals, apart from our last, were in the main hotel and again there was a good selection of tasty food. The Windmill Bar was more expensive for drinks than the bars in town and the Thea Bar at the Residence was more expensive still.

The water in the hotel pool was pretty cold but not unbearable and it was a very pleasant area to sit and sunbathe with waiter service for drinks and snacks from the bar. We paid 1 Euro each to hire a large beach towel which we were able to take to the beach etc. As we were leaving late (7.15pm) on our last day, we were encouraged to delay returning our towels and to use the shower facility in the gym to change before our journey home. This meant that we could really make the most of our last day.

There is a Blue Flag beach just across the road from the hotel where there was a lifeguard on duty all day. There were some rocks under the crystal clear water around the lifeguard station but just a short walk along to the right and it was pure sand and a gentle gradient for a long way out. It appeared to be very safe for children. We watched quite a few people struggle and risk the sea urchins trying to get in by the rocks - if only they'd noticed that everyone else was swimming a bit further along! Sun beds at the beach were 3 Euros per day.

The town is small but has good restaurants and tavernas all serving a variety of food but especially locally caught sea food. There are little supermarket shops and gift shops but the place is not over commercialised. There are various activities available at the beach, for a fee, and an excellent Diving School situated at the rear of the hotel.
