“Worse under new mgmt”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2015 via mobile

Second visit since new mgmt and hotel grounds facilities etc largely unchanged, a little more tired perhaps. Still a relaxed vibe, food was ok but not as good as another resort I spent the 2nd half of my week at.

Prices have increased significantly since last year and mgmt have introduced tiered pricing - this is no longer the best value in Diani. Reservations was awful and the online room booking system kept breaking down, emails were not really responded to and I had to chase, and when I get responses they were inconsistent and conflicting (from no we have no rooms to yes we have loads).

Really underwhelming as the hotel is NOT busy. Much cheaper to book via a German travel agent rather than direct with the hotel which was odd - and which was what I did in the end. C'mon chaps - get your act together.

Dear Mr ???

We really wish to reply to you concerning the matter mentioned in your message if you will be so kind to give us your name and duration of stay per email. FYI the rate given to the guests for a single room is the same that all Hotels in the world apply. I would be very happy to reply to you on that and other matters if I am able to contact you.
Best regards.

We stayed for a week in Ocean Village and we were very happy with it. The room was very good, big, clean, with a nice bathroom and comfortable bed. Very good sleeping quality, the place is completely quiet at night and there is also no noise in the morning. We enjoyed sitting on the private terrace as well. The hotel is situated right on the beach and also has a swimming pool. We stayed with half- board which was perfect for us, the food is really good and we had no need to go to other restaurants. They always have different menus and something for everybody. Excellent grilled seafood and meat as well! On the one night where they knew my partner could not eat the regular menu, they served him a special meal of lobster, without us even asking for it. Very good service! It is not a place for partying, as the bar closes early and everything is quiet. But if you want to go out there are plenty of places in Diani to and the hotel will arrange taxis for you. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Always my favorite place we have been there for so many years since my kids were babies and still love it! I love the concept of bungalow rooms and i love the fact that the owner kept so many of the indigenous tree. Keep up

The hotel is well kept. The Bungalows in the front row are spacious. The decoration is nice. The bathroom is huge. They even have a "vintage" bath-tub. Aircondition was very silent. There were more than enough sun-loungers at the beach front. In case the hotel is fully booked it might get a little crowded however. The pool is nothing to rave about and might be not suitable for small children.
The beach was great. There were not many beachboys/-Girls and a "No, thank you" was enough to keep them away.
The employees were very friendly. All in all the athmosphere was really relaxed.
In case you need to do some shopping you can easily hop on a matatu in front of the hotel and go to one of the shopping areas.
Food was ok.

I had a wonderful time. I plan to go back. The place is beautiful and peaceful. Very clean, not very noisy A/C and green. Loved the soaking tubs.
We were greated with a cocktail drink the first night. Not much, but pleasant to get to talk to the Manager and other new guests. Makes you feel right at home.
The food has a good variety, though I found it quie salty. My partner didnt have a problem with it though.
Wish they would plant a lot of insect repelling plants around the beautiful landscapes. Free internet would be well appreciated.

Room Tip: The B-Block did it for me, especially if you can get the middle ones.

We went to the south coast just before the Christmas holidays and I was glad I had settled for this lovely place. The hotel is not too far from the Ferry and closer to the Ukunda junction. Upon arrival we were offered kahawa chungu (black coffee) and cool towels at the 1st rception and greeted so well we immediately felt at home! The website showed the place just as it was, no tricks at all.

My family (4 adults and 2 kids aged 5 and 6) and I live on the north coast and this time wanted to unwind on the white sandy beach of Diani. The staff were dressed in simple nice uniform and all paid attention to our arrival with so much love. Our kids immediately wanted to start the holiday!

Then our bags were carried and we were ushered to the reception at the lower end of the hotel right at the beach where we registered and the children offered fruit juices. In the rooms We found invitations to a cocktail to meet the manager and this was really a nice unique touch, although we could not attend as we had to go to the shopping centre to buy some stuff for the kids. We had lunch at a small restaurant right next to the beach wathcing the ocean as we ate. The waiters were flexible and requested the chef to make some changes to the menu as per our requests to make the kids enjoy their food. Ahsante! (thank you)

Dinner was outside in the garden as it was a Sunday and we loved it! The food was great and the waiters were cordial. Then we relaxed by the pool and there was a band playing lovely relaxed music. we even put in a request for one swahili song and we danced a little, the kids really enjoyed the experience. On the 2nd night dinner was in the restaurant and it was just as lovely, that night after dinner we had Maasai dancers and a photo session with them too!

The hotel seemed quiet during the day but at dinner time we saw so many guests and were impressed that the place was nicely quiet even with so many people around. We enjoyed the ambience, the furniture was nice too and the space was big enough for all the guests.

If you want some peace and good relaxation then choose this hotel. The lady manager went round talking to guests and she made all feel part of the Ocean Village family. In short, we enjoyed the ocean swimming, the pool was nice and the baby pool too. The food was good and the service too.

Breakfast was fresh too and there was a wide selection of food, although the cereals lacked oats on both days were were there. But we could do with the cornflakes selection. Ali the waiter suggested if we would like for our tea to be made the coastal way we love it (with spices) and we were overjoyed! We enjoyed it
While at dinner they put the nets down in the rooms and left a note just to wish you a good night! Oh my! It made us feel sooooo...appreciated!!!! The reception team was so helpful at any and every instance we needed help. Well done Ismael, Oscar, Minnie and all we met.

We shall be back soon, we want to go back there! Maybe this time to enjoy the spa and the beach games.

Room Tip: We had a room (grand tropical deluxe)at the beachfront not far from the Reception and could see the...

We stayed in this hotel from December 25 until December 31, 2014. Very nice hotel. Personnel were very friendly. We had half-board and this was excellent.
Nice food. During our stay it was possible to eat outside. As it was 25 degr. in the evening it was very nice to sit outside. Very nice private beach also with a reef in front of the hotel with beautiful fishes. We went there with a traditional dhow. Kind manager also who tried to meet all wishes of the guests.

Room Tip: we, as a family, had a family suite which was perfect for us. It was in section B. I would rather ha...
