“Baobab and Beyond”

After a mix up with rooms was sorted out - be carefull, we made First choice confirm in writting that we were booked into Kole Kole, we got upgraded to a deluxe suite or something the girls didn't and it involved a room change after the first night. Sadly one of them left their mobile phone in the room and by the time we realised it had gone - room boy hadn't seen it!!??
Anyway the resort was really good food, nice rooms, friendly staff ,no complaints other than beach sellers (v. persistent) and girl's smelly room (717 I think), maintenance fixed the toilet 3 times before we gave up and demanded a room change.
Fly Safari to Masai was fantastic thanks to Julius at JTSafaris who is a top man, nothing was too much trouble, changed my booking at last minute as I was ill , even sent a driver (Robert also a good man) FOC to take me to the clinic. Also took a couple of local trips with JT excellent value private car I have no hesitation in reccomending Julius and his sister - thanks again Julius!

Stayed at the Baobab Beach Resort from September 7th 2009 for 2 weeks. As it was our honeymoon we wanted to stay somewhere special and this place certainly did not disappiont! Everything was out of this world, the grounds, the staff, the rooms I could go on and on. We upgraded to the Maridadi Wing and the rooms were fantastic, big double sink, walk in shower and widescreen TV.
The food was very varied and there was a theme night each evening so it didnt get boring or repetative. The grounds are all really nice and everywhere you go the staff always greet you with a Jambo Jambo!! In the evenings we drank in th Tapa Tapa bar with a great view of the ocean. The service here was also great, any empty glasses were soon topped up. Inside the hotel they have a spa where both myself and my wife went for a massage this was really relaxing. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, on first evening they arranged a candle lit dinner for all honeymooners which was really nice. All the pools were clean and the swim up bars were great :-)
We booked a 3 day Safari with JT Safari's to Tsavo East and West. The Safari was a once in a lifetime experience and we saw the big 5 including Rhino. Our guide was called George Bush :-) and he was great, how he spotted some of the animals was beyond me. Julius was very professional he came out to meet us prior to our Safari and phoned each day while we were there to check everything was ok he also gave us some carvings at the end! We stayed in Leporard Lodge which is a must as it is right outside a watering hole and they feed a Leporard each night!! We also stayed in a tent at Aruba Lodge again faultless!
We are well travelled and i never really thought i would want to go back to the same place twice but we would certainly return to Baobab!!!
Tips:
We booked with First Choice, keep an eye on internet prices as they go up and down a lot, if you time it right you can get a great deal. Flights were spot on, book the VIP lounge on your return as the airport is busy and hot with no aircon, for £20 it makes a massive difference!
Take US dollars for your entry visas. I dont see the point in doing it before hand as everyone was in same queue so it was no quicker. Make sure you take bug spray we didnt get eaten alive but we did get a few bites in the evening. Look out for Monkeys :-) they were hilarious and managed to snatch a few things from us but totally harmless! Julius arranged Taxi's for us to the local cash point and local Orphange for free. Take some pens etc for the kids they wil really appricate it. You can swap your larger notes say 1000 sillings for smaller 100 shillings notes at the reception these are better for tips. The staff dont earn a lot so anyhing is welcome, i also left some old T-shirts for the room boys.
All in all a great holiday, dont go without doing a Safari with JT!! Cant wait to go again!

This hotel is very well run very clean and the staff are very good. The location was breathtaking when we first arrived we could not believe what we saw. The choice and quality of food was fantastic. This hotel is sutiable for all ages of travellers as there is something for every one to enjoy.
We had booked our two night safari to Tsavo East & West before we left the UK and were not sure what to expect. This was booked through Julius K. Nzumbi of J.T Safaris(www.julius-safariscom) the service provided by Julius was excellent! The lodges we stayed in were above our expectations, staying the first night in Aruba and the second in Kilaguni Serena. We saw lots of animals including lions and cheetahs thanks to our driver Franco's quick responses to information received over the radio. We would have no worries about booking with Julius again, and are hoping to return again in two years time to do a weeks safari - booked with JT safari's. Many thanks again Julius to you and all your staff for making our safari experience so very good and excellent value for money.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this resort booking with first choice, we had read all the reviews on trip advisor and have to say it not only lived up to our expectations but went beyond them. Both of us have travelled a lot and this is now one of our favourite places/resorts.

We stayed in the Maridadi wing, and requested an upgrade by emailing the resort directly before arriving - this is well worth it. Our room was fantastic, very clean and huge and overlooked the pool.

The food was brillant, I have a gluten free diet and had no problems with the buffets, the all inclusive was very good value & the cocktails making a perfect pre dinner drink!. All the staff very very friendly and the facilities were great. I would highly recommend the 5 day spa package, it was amazing value for money & my beauty therapist Maggy was extremely professional & friendly.

We booked a one day private safari through first choice and although probably more expensive than other recommendations, the piece of mind was worth the money. Our guide was extremely knowledgable and we only paid an extra $20US each for it to be private.

Would also recommend upgrading the flights if booking on Thomson or first choice, we did and it was money well spent to add to a completely relaxing time.

We loved this place so much, we are already looking into booking next year again.

We spent 7 nights at the Baobab after a fantastic 7 day Tanzanian safari, booked with Thomsons. After the standards of the SOPA Lodges we stayed in, the hotel had a lot to live up to, and unfortunately, in some areas it didn't.

The hotel rooms and grounds were brilliant, we upgraded to Kole Kole and had a fantastic room, great views and location, however, I have to say the food wasn't as good as the Lodges, bearing in mind they were in the bush miles from anywhere, which was a disapointment. Also the amount of weed that built up on th beach over the week was surprising in that hotels further up the coast regularly clear this, yet it was allowed to build up all along the front of the hotel on the beach, which was an eyesore.

The staff were friendly, courteous and attentive, however, the 2 guys on main recpetion were very abrupt and off hand when we had quieries aboiut the upgrade, but overall the staff were very good

Beach boys were all over you like a rash as soon as you ventured out onto the beach, however, they do have living to make and after a few firm "no thank you" they eventually wandered off towards other tourists. I don't know what many of them were selling as they didn't have any "guifts etc" to show you.

We wanted a comfortable hotel where we could chill and re-charge the batteries after the safari, and the Baobab ticked all the boxes for that. Would we go again, I don't think so, preferring to try other hotels such as Diani Reef Hotel, but the Kenyan (and Tanzanian ) people are all so friendly and welcoming, the wildlife and sights we saw were amaizing so we will definitely be back in a few years to these countries .

I have to comment on the Safari operators who differed greatly, in Tanzania we used Ranger Safari, who's driver, Hassan was brilliant. At 65 years of age, he was up with the lark, had eyes like a hawk to spot game, the stamina of a lion (we all fell asleep at times in the back after a long day and he was gong strong) and was a perfect gentleman and a pleasure to meet. In Kenya we used Pollmans, who's young driver fell asleep at the wheel twice on a long journey and was overtaking on hills etc, quite frightening. We still await Thomsons response to complaints from all in our party

We stayed at the Baobab beach resort for our honeymoon, the staff are fantastic very friendly and welcoming. The food was brilliant so much to choose from and every day is different, I am a fussy eater and I ate very well. the biggest tip we can give is if you are going to go on a safari to book with Kennedy who we met on the beach, we got it half the price for what you would pay with a tour operator for exactly the same package as they were offering. We had an absolutly brilliant time Kennedy and his driver really looked after us and made sure we were happy all the way through. Our Safari accomadation was lovely and food again was great. You can meet Kennedy on the beach in front of hotel or you can email him and you can now book from England. or look out for WT safaris.

We stayed at the Baobab Beach from the 21 September to 06 October in the Maridadi Wing. The hotel and staff were fabulous and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel and rooms were kept spotless at all times and the grounds were beautiful. I was worried before going on holiday about the food with it being All Inclusive however there was so much choice and it was all delicious. The only thing is, I have now put on a stone in weight :-) Whilst the food was brilliant and varied I would also recommend a night out at Ali Barbours restaurant which is also fabulous and very romantic. Transport is provided free of charge from the hotel and its a very short drive away

The entertainment provided by the Animation team at the hotel is very good with plenty of activities to chose from and there are shows and a disco every night. Most day time activities take part at the Baobab and Kole Kole pool area and there is plently to keep you entertained. We thought the guys were all fantastic especially Wycliffe and Auni who went out of their way to ensure we were having a good time. We personally enjoyed the activities but found if we wanted a quiet day the best place to relax is the Maridadi pool area. However please be assured there is no pressure to take part in activities its up to you how much you want to get involved

We took a trip to a village school in Ukunda, which we would strongly recommend. Initially I was apprehensive but can honestly say it was an amazing and humbeling experience and lovely to meet the locals. We took some pens and paper and also through our own choice gave a donation to the school.

We also took a safari to Tsavo East and West throught Wildlife- Kenya which was an amazing experience and highly recommend. We also did Fort Jesus and Haller Park which are also worthwhile day trips. I found we were able to save money on excursions by booking independently.

Diani Beach is absolutely stunning and beach views from the hotel are picture postcard. The only negative for me was the Beach Boys. Don'g get me wrong I found them friendly and unthreatening but personally dont like being bothered with the hard sell when I want a quiet walk on the beach, The hotel does provide a beach area which is manned by security which they are unable to come into. I also found that waiting for the tide to come in meant I could go into the sea without being bothered. Please dont let this small issue put anyone off coming to the hotel. There are sunbeds throughout the grounds with views of the beach and Indian ocean and the pools are fantastic

We felt very comfortable and secure within the hotel at all times. Security cover all entrances and the guards are very friendly. I can honestly say I felt very relaxed and safe in Kenya

This was our first trip to Kenya and the hotel, country and people totally blew us away. I would stongly recommend this hotel to anyone
