“Nice, Quite and Relaxing? I don't think so”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2014

We arrived here for the weekend of 14-16 of February expecting to have a nice relaxing vacation from the fast paced, city life we live back home. Since my arrival I have noticed that they have no gym even though they advertise like they do. And although I understand this resort is in development, I would think the management would at least tell the workers to not work before noon on Saturday and Sunday as people like to get out and enjoy there Friday and Saturday nights which means they might enjoy sleeping in. Since everything there is made out of concrete, it sounds like someone is a sledge hammer pounding it right in my room. To me it sounds like it's coming from under us, but when we called the manager and told them, she went upstairs because she thought they were working above us. That's how loud this is. Plus on top of that, they didn't even stop it even though they said they where going too. So all day, every day there is constant banging!! Not to mention there are some very young local women with many 60+ guys that for some reason, enjoy walking out on there balcony in the morning naked, I would not bring a family to this location. Security is good, but the menu is far from accommodating, so don't expect too much!!! Bugs, can't really say enough about the bugs, there windows or doors don't seal properly so the bugs are out of control, and I 409 everything, everyday. Also since there are no seals on the doors, when the wind catches them, they slam so loud; you get at minimum of 20 doors a damn slamming closed that you can hear through out the complex, you would think some simple door stops to attach at the bottom of the door would fix this issue.

I had 6 nights in this apartment resort and it was really very relaxing.Close to everything and you didn't have to cook if you didn't want to.It was all kept beautifully clean and I would love to have spent more time there. The staff were really good and always ready to help if needed.

Room Tip: I was on the first floor at the end a little noisy from the dogs next door but nothing you couldn...

Have just returned from a five week stay at Morning Star Resort Diani Beach Kenya. For Ten years we have spent at least three weeks iin a large hotel on Diani Beach This is the first time we have changed accommodation and I must say it was a great place to stay,Joachim the boss was always on hand and very helpful and ALL the staff were really friendly and always on hand to help with any requests. This Resort is central to all, local supermarkets, the private hospital only 100 yards away and Barclays Bank(and cash points) It is five minutes to the glorious beach and a very cheap Matatu(Minibus) ride to the nearest town(UKUNDA) Morning Star has a great Pool which is kept spotless ample sunbeds(with Towels)a lovely friendly restaurant with good choice of food. The resort is totally secure and there is a safe in every room, which incidentally we found really quite redundant as we trusted the staff completely.Rooms also have fridge with freezer compartment and fully equipt kitchen area. Airconditioning in bedrooms and ceiling fans in lounge area, a huge ballcony with chairs and table and SUNBED.. In all this is a superbly run and equipt Resort and we shall be staying there hopefuuly on our return to Kenya in June.I thoroughjly reccommend it for those wanting greater freedom than one gets in a hotel but with all the facilities available and to finish with THE DRINKS ARE REASONABLY PRICED AS IS THE FOOD. Congratulations Joachim and all your staff!!!

Ros and Graham

Room Tip: all rooms face pool but reccommend middle floor rooms
