“Beautiful, new hotel, lovely location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

This is a lovely new hotel in a fantastic setting. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the food is tasty.
As a new hotel there is the odd teething problem (bad TV reception!) but who cares when the fun is outside and the hotel does whatever it can to fix anything arising. Would recommend.

Spent a few nights here a few months back and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is gorgeous - one of the most beautiful I have ever seen anywhere in the world. The swimming pools leading down to the beach and the pool bar (with seats in the pool) are fantastic. The service was wonderful - both hotel staff and at the many restaurants and bars. Our favorite restaurant was Baharani which is situated just above the beach. The menu is great, the food is very reasonably priced, and the design of the bar and restaurant's lounge area are beautiful. The buffet breakfast and dinner were also fabulous - amazing variety, quality and service. We were lucky enough to get upgraded to a beachfront suite. The suite was spacious and elegant without being overdone, and the enormous bathtub would have made it difficult to leave the room were the hotel grounds and the beach not so beautiful.

It took me long to decide whether to try this hotel because I read many bad critics about service. In the end I was really happy I booked it. The architecture is one of the best I have ever seen in Kenia. The cascade pool is lovely. Also the gardens are very well done and the trees have name tags, which was quite interesting to see. The rooms were amazing - very big, new and beautifully furnished. When we arrived we were welcomed very warmly and the staff brought us a whole cake and bottle of campaign for our honeymoon.Service was really good there so I can only assume that because this hotel is quite new, it took them a while to get things organized but now they seem pretty much on track. The food is also really nice - from all five hotels we have booked for this holiday they had by far the best deserts. We booked full board and for lunch they have a big menu to chose, which also includes fillet steak and great fish. It is served at the beach with really nice atmosphere. At the beach bar you can listen so chill out music in the evenings and can have a shisha/waterpipe. If you get bored they offer some water volleyball, beach walks and there is also table tennis. Beachboys are there but not too many, so you really never feel disturbed. The sunbeds are super cosy and there are enough of them for everyone. The only thing we did not like too much was the fact that the pool was still being cleaned at 9.00 am even though it was supposed to be open as of 7.00 am. Also, they did not have all the drinks on the menu at the swim-up pool bar, but the staff was willing to get them from the restaurant for us. If you want really cold beer, ask for a wine cooler with ice :-)

Room Tip: They are all really great and new!

Superb hotel with cascade pools and very large comfortable rooms.
The bathroom is large and has bath and eain shower.
There is a restaurant on the beach and in the main building and they both serve quality food from African, European and Indian cuisines.
The only thing that needs improvement is the quality of the internet connection in the room.

Usually when you see pictures of a hotel and rooms in a brochure it's nothing like the real thing once you get there, not this time though. The rooms are big, plenty of space (and hangers) for your clothes, an awesome bathroom with rainshower and bathtub, a desk and chair, a dresser, a big bed and a sitting area both inside and outside the room.

The terraced pool is something you have to see and try. My favorite spot was the beach though, view of the ocean from the shade of palmtrees.

I also enjoyed the food, which was part of my package. It was buffetstyle but both there were several live cooking stations for both breakfast and dinner.

I would definitely go back to this hotel.

the most peaceful, beautiful, zen and tranquil I have yet stayed at in the south coast.
we went with a group of friends. we were lucky and got upgraded to the superior rooms. I stayed in a deluxe room.it has a patio and was quite near the pool.
The pool has 7 levels the goes from the top of the hotel all the way to the bottom. you can swim in any level and that is great as you can have your own private space... who knew you could have your personal space in a pool :) the pool bar at the top is perfect... order your drinks at the bar...go for a swim to see the sea..a breathtaking view from the infinity pool...
at the bottom is the sea food restaurant and pool bar.. and entry to the beach.. this was a little more noisy as there were a few kids around and most of the guests were relaxing there... however, this noise doesnt travel and therefore the top of the pool is perfect to relax too.
the food was nice.. Amazing breakfast... rooms are very clean. everything is white and pure.
this is the first time i have stayed at a hotel and not left to wander around town... thats how much we liked it.
I would definitely go back again and recommend it to all my clients.

Room Tip: get the superior or deluxe rooms.

Spent three amazing nights at Swahili Beach and have to say it was one incredible experience.

Once inside the gates, you gate an incredible view into the sea, which is just a taste of things to come.

The setting is high up above the trees which gives you an incredible view into the sea, especially from the cascading pools looking downwards to the sea. The combination of the grass, palm trees and Swahili architecture gives an appearance of Eden itself.

They've planted palm trees on the beach which means not having to squabble for sun decks and allowing one to relax there all day under the swaying of the palms.

Dinner at the beach restaurant is not to be missed, with the sound of waves lapping up on the shores as you eat.

The Swahili style of the rooms, the material used and the sunken baths made it an incredibly pleasant experience, and they even have sun decks on the room balconies.

Best of all, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, not to mention giving an upgrade to Superior Deluxe at no extra charge.

Just to sum up how good the place is, I posted some pictures of the place on facebook and by the following day, a friend had cancelled reservations elsewhere for a group of 16 pax and switched to Swahili Beach.

Worth every cent, I certainly will be going back there and recommend anyone who gets a chance to stay there too.

Room Tip: We didn't get rooms 123 or 128 which are reputed to have great views but the view from 54/55 is...
