Swahili Beach is well located, good rooms but the treatment from the management is pathetic. I just had my wedding there spent a lot of money and was treated like beggar on the street. GM who was there for all of 3 days, admits his staff are unprofessional and incompetent but yet we still had to pay for their mistakes. there is nothing Special done for newly weds despite bringing most of our guests who occupied several rooms. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Terrible treatment all round. . rooms. .

Great view, lovely setting, beautiful rooms and facilities but what terrible service. Five star accommodation with less than 1 star service. In fairness, there were 3-4 hospitality staff who were amazing. Serious customer service training is advise. General Manager is a racist twerp. Rude and most unhelpful when dealing with queries or complaints ....

Swahili Beach is absolutely stunning !! The hotel infrastructure is fabulous !! The rooms are very well designed, they're spacious with large beds and an amazing bathroom. They also come with a balcony and the overall design is very tasteful. There are I think seven pools (or rather, one really large pool that is split into 7 sections. The restaurants are all extremely well designed including the beach bar and pool bar. This must be the reason it is ranked as a five star. Unfortunately, the hotel ownership and management forgot that good service must compliment all these great things.

One of the hotel guests made a very apt observation, that it was a five star hotel with one star service. The staff are clearly not at all or are poorly trained. They would get orders wrong, take long to attend to customers, forget basic items like cutlery on tables and so on and so forth. Its these little things (attention to detail) that make you pay the extra dime for total comfort. Otherwise in my view, then stay at a cheaper hotel, with a smaller room, less fanciness and get the commensurate service levels.

I really do want to give this hotel an awesome review but it is difficult given this little detail and especially given majority of the guests complained of the same issue meaning it was not a once off 'bad luck' experience. Would however most certainly give it a second chance and even recommend it, but with a disclaimer to lower expectations. The infrastructure and service does not match - at all.

This hotel has not been open for a year yet. In their introductory letter to "the guest" they mention that the hotel is still undergoing improvements, refurbishment and building work. Fortunately our room was nowhere near the works and we were not disturbed by any noise. On the whole the staff were welcoming and pleasant. Coming into the hotel, you receive a feeling of spaciouness with the Moroccan architecture which is lovely. This is echoed in the Superior rooms.

Although not an architect, there are some things I would have changed had I the responsibility of designing the rooms, such as the sliding doors on the bathrooms (not very ergonomic), the marble floors and walls in the bathroom (slippery), the taps/thermostat on the shower taps (not easily controlled), and the dressing room area (a little dark)

At the start, the food was very good, with a wide variety to suit all tastes helped by the various stations: pasta, grill, salads, roast. As the week went on and despite the fact that there were "themed" evenings, it went a little downhill. If you arrived at what might not be considered as late to dinner, i.e. 8.30pm, some of the food had run out or was not replaced. In their defence I must say on one evening when the Greek salad ran out and was not replaced, I was presented with a beautifully crafted and tasty one the next evening. Thanks Chef!

We spent 7 nights here and it was great to chill out and relax all day, every day! We did use the gym which is quite basic but we had what we needed. They have said that they will be adding more equipment.

Afternoon tea is a lovely touch but watch out for the vervet monkeys, they will steal a sarnie or cake from underneath your nose if you're not careful!

The beach has quite a lot of seaweed on it and my hat goes off to the guys and gals who clear the area everyday in the heat!! Not the prettiest or most comfortable of beaches to walk along. Bring some aqua shoes with you if staying here. There's quite a lot of coral and sea urchins. Beware the beachhawkers, although legitimate, they will ply their trade to you. A firm "no thanks" before they start their "spiel" worked for us.

A good stay at the Swahili, not sure I would repeat it despite the goodwill of a lot of the staff.

Room Tip: A ground floor superior room is a good choice.

The Mrs and I were here for 5 nights (Aug 30 - Sep 3). The place is beautiful. It's one of those places that leave you sad because you know it can only get bad from here. I sincerely hope that the management can keep it up to standard because as it is now, it's stunning. Meals were pretty decent, the Indian restaurant staff were very hands-on and made sure that you felt completely at ease. Room service was a little slow but then again this is Diani - where's the rush.

We had booked a honeymoon package but ended up having some items not delivered in a timely fashion. We spoke with a manager and i have to tell you, there response went above and beyond - we received a free rooftop dinner, a free night's stay and coupons to their gift shop. I was truly impressed by the no-hassle way in which they handled it.

If you need a spot that is secluded, need sometime to just relax and unwind without the garrish "entertainment" that you will find in other lesser resorts, this is the place to be.

Room Tip: Pick a suite on the side next to the spa/gym. You will probably have a better view of the ocean from...

With the majority of mainstream hotels on the Kenyan Coast looking more than a little jaded in recent times, this hotel is a beautiful reminder of all that a hotel should be both in the looks and the comfort department! An inspired architectural masterpiece with only a few teething problems relating mainly, as other contributors have pointed out, to the bathroom fittings. I particularly loved the concept of the pool, the amazing landscaping, the room furnishings, beautiful beach bar and the food - none of the boring Utali college (un)inspired fare here - that just about covers it all doesnt it? Friendly staff, wide open spaces... yes space and privacy in abundance! I was reminded a little of a good hotel in Dubai - but to have this in Mombasa is a dream come true for those of us who had run short of decent places to stay.

We have just returned from this beautiful hotel, having spent 6 nights in a superior room. This was splendidly appointed, with a huge double bed, sitting area and covered balcony. The very big bathroom had two basins, bidet, sunken bath and rain shower (only niggle; the shower temperature is difficult to adjust). There is a fridge, tea making facilities, hairdryer etc. The whole feel of the room is luxurious.
The hotel staff were without exception friendly, happy and very attentive.
The food was excellent, with very good choice at breakfast and dinner, including several 'stations' serving fresh-cooked fish and meat. A very nice touch is the complimentary tea at 4.pm (little sandwiches, cakes and biscuits).
The pools are lovely, always clean and never crowded, if a little shallow in parts. When we were there there was never a shortage of very comfortable sun beds - the attendants provide two thick towels per bed. There is plenty of natural shade down by the beach, as well as large umbrellas by the main pool.
Altogether a very enjoyable break - we can thoroughly recommend the Swahili Beach. The hotel has just won an award as Leading Kenyan Beach resort and from what we saw thoroughly deserves it.

Room Tip: Ask for a superior room to the left and on the first floor as they have views to the sea,
