It is without a doubt, the best place the stay in Diani. It has probably been the best beach hotel/cottage I've ever stayed in.
Firstly the website gives you all the info you need, along with any extra advice or guidance from a personal email to the managers, (information on water sports and yoga).
The pictures are true, and in person the place is even more magical.
My partner and I stayed here for 8 nights in mid Jan 2013. The whole experience was fantastic. We were met by one of the managers when we arrived and taken to our room. The rooms are just beautiful, cleverly designed and beautifully decorated.
Make sure to have a look at the selection of leaflets in the room as they have taken the time to create a photo book of the construction from August 2007-July 2008, very impressive, it does make you feel like you get to know the owners more personally before you have even met them.
The food here is just delicious, Valentina has created all the recipes herself from her 'passion for cooking' Riccardo told me, also very impressive. The portions sizes are great, so you never go hungry. Breakfast is a treat as well, mini croissants and quiches, with all the usual cooked breaky and fresh fruit.
Nothing is a problem when you stay there, any small question or query is assisted with a genuine smile and a helpful answer. The staff are just lovely too, really friendly people who all seem very happy but at the same time are very chilled out which is nice when you're relaxing for the week! There's also a 'groundsman' Richard, who will help with anything while you're relaxing in the sun, moving your sunbed, helping with the free kayaks etc. All these little things may seem pedantic to some, but when you only have 2 weeks to unwind before getting back to a busy london life, it makes all the difference, you're made to feel special.
The owners also come around and introduce themselves, have a chat, get to know you, and everyday will pass by and say hello.
The place is exciting too, with Colobus monkey's running and jumping around the palm trees which are all located on the man made beach which is what the cottages are built on. And as day turns to night the bats come out to play in the trees while the monkeys sleep.
The rooms are always cleaned and have brilliant mosquito nets, which you probably won't need as it's always a bit windy, which is a relief when you're enjoying your dinner outside.
What else can I say? Well my partner and I have mentioned a few times since being back home that we miss it. It's a very warm environment and a joy to spend a week in for couples and families.
I wish them all the best as they really have put in the effort, and I hope I have the opportunity to visit Waterlovers again.
