“Friendly & relaxed...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2009

A great little hotel for those on a budget.

The staff were always accommodating and polite - although attention to detail and a lack of English caused some customers some aggravation - you are getting what you paid for but that doesn't meant this hotel is bad. In fact, if you ignore the rather poor breakfasts on order - and head into town for a bite to eat instead - this hotel is perfect.

It is located away from the main strip of Tsilivi so it's quiet but close enough for the walk into town or to the beach. The hotel is clean and the cleaning staff were brilliant - if you needed anything doing they would do it. Reception was always 'manned' and the reception staff (who spoke great English) were polite and extremely helpful. It always helps to befriend the staff - they'll be more willing to help a nice customer rather than a grumpy aggressive one.

Rooms come with everything you need - a safe, air-con etc. but of course at an additional cost - which wasn't unreasonable. Word of warning though - the beds are extremely hard and you only get one pillow as standard - ask for another and some extra blankets to soften the bed. The shower - although uncontrollable (water everywhere!) was good enough - it did the job - but hot water is limited so you need to get in there before the other guests do.

The pool area is small but ideal - out of peak season the outside bar is closed but there is one inside if you need to grab any refreshments.

Tsilivi is beautiful, one of the best places to stay on the island (I just hope it doesn't turn into another Laganas, dont bother going there it will make you feel depressed) and this hotel compliments the town perfectly.

Be patient, be polite, enjoy the area and you'll have a great time.

Beds are bloody hard as some of the other travellers have said before. We had a room that overlooked the pool. Weather was excellent from 90-105 every day, pool was very pleasant. Katerina was very polite as were all the staff. Breakfast is continental but plentiful. Walk to the beach 15mins. There is 2 parts to island and unfortunately this part was bloody expensive - 3 euros for a small cup of coffee! Whilst a car trip up the road was 1 euro, do get car hire as it is worth driving around the island. Do the round the island boat trip as it is fab! get to jump off boat in various small beach areas, snorkelling was great. We didn't do the turtle boat trip as some had done this and all they saw was a dead turtle! LOL Would we go back to this place nope but that is not because of the hotel or the actual island just because it is so expensive and you are ripped off wherever you go e.g. beach paragliding they wanted £75 for 15mins!

we have just got back this evening from tsilivi. we stayed at the petros hotel. our first 4 days we had no hot water in taps or most importantely the shower. we were told water was heated by solar power, as it was cloudy for the first few days we had lukeb warm water to wash in. not very good. also the breakfast was very poor although edible, we had boiled eggs, bread, yogurt with tinned peaches and greek honey which was actually very nice. i bought some from the local shop to take home. the staff was very minimal, consisting of one cleaner, poor woman, and 2 reception staff, one was more friendly than the other, also the same one also more helpful. all in all we made the most of our holiday and met some really nice people called colin and corinne from gloucester. but we will not be going back to zante in the dnear future. some really good resturants, BENIKOS, APPOLLON, ATHENA,. OUR FAVOURITE PLACE WAS PARADISE BAR, WE HAD LOTS OF FUN AND LOTS OF COCKTAILS, STAVROS AND TONY WERE EXCELLENT BARMEN AND REALLY MADE YOU WELCOME. BUT PARADISE BAR DOES NOT SERVE FOOD.

Stayed at the Petros for 2 weeks and had a great time.We met some very freindly people and the staff were very helpful. The pool area was very good and never had a problem with getting sunbeds at any time. The pool bar was always open and had some very good meals at reasonable prices. The only issue we had ,but it wasnt the hotels fault, was the bl---y cockeral across the road ,every morning at5-30 the bird started to wake everybody in the hotel!!! .All in all we had one of our best holidays ever and will go back again

we loved this hotel for its cleanliness and friendly reception staff Hello marta and katerina ,, its a short walk to the village centre but not a hardship to .. breakfast acceptable - but finished too early and the bulldog who served it was very scary !!. The sun beds plentiful but wonder if that was the sarcastic self obsessed bar man at the pool side bar that kept people away from the pool ..it certainly did us ? we preffered the beach where we werent tol that coca-cola was no good for us and we should have water .. dont need lectures on holiday thankyou ..on the whole a lovely holiday and would go back to the petros if the breakfasts finished later and the barman buried his head in the sand ..oh and a tip for the hard beds - put the duvets under the sheets to make the mattress softer .

Firstly, we found that this hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were all very polite and friendly, especially MARTA on reception. She is always smiling and very obliging. The staff couldn't do enough for you and our minor problems were attended to very quickly. I would not hesitate to reccommend the Petros Hotel.

Thr rooms are exactly as pictured. Not luxury but quite comfortable. Our rooms were cleaned every day but fresh towels were only supplied if you threw the used ones in the shower. If they were hung up they would not be changed.
True, the beds were 'very firm' but that was not a problem for us. The pillows are also very flat. Could do with two. I didnt ask for another but I dont think it would have been a problem for them if I had but I just rolled up the quilt and put it under the pilow.
We had a room at the back of the hotel with views of the countryside and did not experience any road noise or noise from the pool/bar area. We did hear cockerels, a turkey, dogs and goats plus a braying donkey at times from a nearby farm but it was not enough to disturb us and we quite enjoyed it anyway.
Most nights were very quiet but one particular night we did have a case of noisy neighbours at 3a.m. who slammed the doors as talked and laughed loudly in the echoing corridors which echo a lot as they are marble tiled. I can see how it would be a problem if it was a regular ocurrence. Fortunately it wasn't.
The included breakfast was basic and the same every day. bread, butter, jam, cereals, cheese, ham, cold boiled eggs, some kind of cake stuff, tinned peaches, thick youghurt. We often paid for a cooked breakfast in the pool bar or in Sandra's bar just down the road, or one of the many bars serving breakfasts in the village. Tizzy's, next to the supermarket, do a great full english if that is what you like - run by a Yorkshire family.
The beach is quite a walk if you are a beach lover and go there every day, but we enjoyed the walk and had the chane to shop, browse and eat on the way!
The only thing I was not keen on in this hotel was the shower. As is usual for Greece, hot water was not always available and we learnt to time our showers just right in order to have hot or warm water. The shower cubicle was small with a strange coat hanger type arrangement for the shower curtain - which stuck to you! Gross!!!

The hotel pool area was peaceul and there were always free sun loungers.
The village itself has a wide variety of restaurants for tourists, most serving good enough food, although we hated the majestic as the food they served up was frozen stuff. Athena was pretty good, however if you like great food the absolute best ones were The Olive tree and Valentino's castle which you pass on the way into the village from the hotel. Amazing fresh food!

If you like a fun bar (suitable fo families) You should not miss Paradise bar and Two Brothers bar. The staff are outgoing and a lot of fun!
We hired a car and drove all over the island. It has so much more to offer than just the tourist resorts and I would recommend it, We discovered some great tavernas and some wonderful scenic places. All in all a fantastic holiday.

The hotel's rooms are basic, we were put in one on the ground floor just around the corner from reception, we overlooked the pool and bar area of the next door hotel "Park". The night times were awful as the noise from Park went on sometimes until 2am ish you also had the entrance to the car park running past our balcony, and the dogs barking all night not to mention the cockerals crowing all night! we were glad when morning came so we could get some rest. We were a bit perplexed that you had to pay for the fridge, as it was on anyway! but locked, also if you pay for the air con, fridge and safe for 2 weeks it costs a fortune.
The breakfast consisted of bread, ham, cheese, cereal (which was horrid) cake and hard boiled eggs, tea/coffee. We sometimes went to Tizzies in the town centre and had a full english. There are plenty of places to eat we went in a different one every night. The Paradise bar is worth a visit, very friendly and fun especially Yiannis and Tony behind the bar.
The beach is a fare walk away, and in the heat can seem miles, the beach and sea were very pleaseant.
Went on a jeep safari and the guide spent the whole time speaking to his passenger who he knew from before, so we had to listen to the other guide when we stopped to get any information, the jeeps on the advert are open topped, but in reality are enclosed.
Overall had a good holiday even though Hotel was a let down
