“Fourth visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

We visited the property to visit our old friends Anna, Nick, Joseph and Louis who run the pool bar and restaurant. As always fantastic service, good food at good prices, a great atmosphere, but above all fantastic people, who are quite simply some of the nicest people you will ever wish to meet.

Rooms are basic but nice, with small kitchenette - basic self-catering possible. Rooms have a balcony and air con. (for a price). Smallish pool and nice bar / restaurant. Possibly the best aspect is the central location: supermarket / launderette opposite and dozens of cafe / bar / restaurants nearby; beach 10 mins walk, buses to Zante etc. Occasionally noisy. Out-of-town facilities probably better, but depends what you want. A lot of Brits.

Room Tip: We had ground floor; balcony attracted ants (not that many!), but room was probably quieter and not...

If you haven't been to Tsilivi before you really have to go it's so lovely! Room in the Amarylis was basic but very clean (what more do you need) Towels and bed changed daily. Great air con. The manager was polite and showed us to our rooms. The pool and bar is owned by Anna and her family, her 2 sons are delightful (hi Luis!) Luis was the cheeky one!! They couldn't do enough for you. Anna serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and her food is great, her pitta (called Anna's pitta) made with fresh tzatiki is to die for! All the food is freshly made. We ate there quite a few times in the evening and her prices are cheaper than the restaurants outside. We had her pizza's, carbonara, burgers and many others things and all meals were exceptional. Please try it, you won't be disappointed! Lots of restaurants outside the apartments, all of which are lovely too, we had meze in Zorba's, ate in yum yums, popeye's (did find it expensive in here) all of which offer traditional greek food and English food. Lots of beach shops just outside the apartments selling tourist gifts, beach clothes, shoes etc. There is a supermarket just outside the apartment and the beach is a ten minute stroll away. Everything you need is close by, a perfect destination. The beach is amazing, crystal clear water and very safe for children as you have to walk out quite a way before is gets deep. Water sports on offer at the beach. We couldn't get over how quiet the resort/beach was for August. We went on 2 trips, shipwreck cove and the turtles. We booked through Thomas Cook but cheaper outside the apartments where you will find travel shops who offer nicer and better value for money trips. The shipwreck trip (even though the actual island was stunning) was a nightmare to get to, a 2 hour boat ride on a big pirate ship, extremely hot and with no seats so we had to stand. But still worth it in the end. The information our rep gave us was very misleading, so before you book with him look outside the resort. The turtle trip was great, a much smaller boat with a guide on board. We saw 2 huge turtles and stopped for some amazing 'swim stops' and swam through caves in the clear blue waters. Trips cost between 20-30 euros. My daughter booked a beach party with TC, very expensive at 50 euros each for her and her boyfriend only to be told at the last minute that there was no transport included which then cost them another 50 euros to get the beach!

Our family has just returned from 2 week holiday at Amarylis apartments and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

The location of apartments results in supermarket, pubs and restaurants all within easy reach.
The beach is a ten minute walk.
The family apartment our family had was spacious, cleaned daily and overlooked swimming pool.
The manager of apartments Nikos, we found to be friendly and helpful.

The pool bar, is the responsibility of Anna, her husband Nikos and sons Joseph and Luis - they were all fantastic and ensured that our holiday was enjoyed by all.

The meals provided by Anna were excellent and she was always smiling and a joy to behold.

The pool is the responsibility of Nikos and he (and rightly so) is immensely proud of how well maintained it is and it was the focal point of our holiday - the kids loved pool to such an extent that trips to the beach were rare.

Joseph and Luis manage the bar and with regards to our family holiday were excellent.
They were helpful, informative and interested - the kids adored both.
Luis - we miss you.
Alongside their parents, in my opinion they make Amarylis what it is.

As the sign states at pool bar arrive as strangers leave as friends - no better compliment to wonderful people.

We miss you all and thanks for making our holiday experience.

Finally to all those we acquainted from Crewe, Ebbw Vale, Castleford, Sunderland - thanks for enriching our holiday - it was a pleasure.

Amarylis 2013 will not be forgotten

we had a family room which was a double bed in one room and 3 single beds in the other , a basic kitchen and simple bathroom with shower.
the pool does not belong to the hotel but to the bar run by Anna & Nikos . Anna and Nikos were the nicest people we met on th holiday, Nikos kept the pool clean , possibly the cleanest pool in Zante . Anna cooked all the food , all homemade and delicious. Her 2 sons Joseph and Luis worked on ther bar , Joseph was super friendly , he worked the day so like 7:30-4:00pm, then Luis took over for the rest of the time , the bar stayed open until 2_3 am every night.Luis is lovely and very cheeky at times but the whole family made you feel extremely welcome.

Room Tip: dont choose room 13 :) the air con fan outside on the porch was directly blowing warm air back into...

we stayed here for 2 weeks, the hotel rooms are basic but how long do you spend in them!! although they are basic they are very clean, the maids are around everyday, they work very hard. the hotel owners are very friendly and helpful only gripe is you cannot leave the air con on while your out. the pool bar is excellent Hannah, Joseph, Louis and Niccos are the most friendly people you could meet, Hannah is a fantastic lady she works soooooooooooo hard all the food she provides is fresh and lovely xxx (especially the chicken club sandwiches)mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm the two boys are great and make you feel so welcome also Niccos he makes sure the pool is upto the best standards. the hotel is located right in the center its great would definitely go back really enjoyed our break xx we also met some lovley people on this holiday thanks to all xx

Room Tip: if you have mobility problems request a ground floor

We recently returned from a week at the Amarylis and I would certainly recommend it to others looking for something which is clean, basic and in a great location.

I'll start with the negatives, which were the shower (which I find to be a constant issue with apartments in Greece!) and the noise from the pool bar. Pop music is blasted out all day so sitting out on your balcony with a book isn't relaxing as it could be! It was also pretty noisy when people were moving around of a morning due to the tiled floors.

On the positive side, the apartments were cleaned everyday which is something you don't usually find in Greece - although the cleaning started at 10am which I think is a little early (it certainly was for me).

The staff were really friendly and helpful and the location is very good for many of the restaurants and the supermarket, although the beach is a little bit of a walk. We had a terrace rather than a balcony, but as we were at the back of the complex we were lucky enough to get some privacy - this would not have been the case if we would have been on the ground floor near the pool.

Overall, the Amarylis was more than adequate for our needs and the quality of service means it earns a very good from me.
