We wanted a last minute deal for a week in the sun and managed to find one for £500 for two us, through Olympic staying at the Alamis.
I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for, so I was not expecting a luxury hotel and when we arrived I was fairly happy with the standard of our room, 39b. The room was equipped with a small double bed, and a single, a wardrobe, one bedside table, a small tv (no signal) and a dressing table with a chair and hairdryer. The kitchen area was very small, with an old looking 2 ring hob, a kettle, toaster and the usual kitchen bits - we intended to eat out every night anyway but you would no way have been able to cook decent meals in here for a week!
The sheets were clean, blankets were a bit musty and the towels were a bit past their best! However, a cleaner came in every day and mopped the floor, cleaned bathroom emptied bins and our towels and sheets were changed twice during the week.
The bathroom was my real gripe because the drainage point in the middle of the floor did smell quite badly, and the hand held shower was annoying! The shower was fully tiled so for the sake of putting up an attachment on the wall for the shower it would make a big difference!
The air con was very, very expensive at £50 for a week, and the safe was soooooo small for £20. I will agree with people in previous reviews who said the family are quite sour faced too, the lady in particular was quite rude! Bar staff were lovely though.
The pool was fine, freezing cold when you first get in but quite nice in the 30 degree heat! Sun lounger availability was never a problem, although very tightly packed together.
My last moan as such is more to do with Olympic - we arrived on an early morning flight on Monday, arriving at the hotel at 8am. We were able to check straight into our room but later told that this early check counted as our first night, meaning that we would have to check out on Sunday at 12 noon, despite the fact we weren't being collected for our return flight until 3am on Monday morning. We therefore had to pay another £30 to change to another room for this 15 hour period. For the record we changed to room 40 and it was very grotty! So watch out for your flight times.
On a slightly more positive note, the hotel's location is faultless. You are minutes away from the main strip and the beach (Sea was beautiful but not really a sandy beach). There are loads of restaurants to choose from and the best for us were Nemesis, Zeus and Romios - fab meals in all of these, about 30 Euros for two course meal and a carafe of local wine. Georgio's was also nice but a bit more expensive. We ate at The Olde Vineyard which was recommended on here but we were quite disappointed, food was average. We also ate at Asian Palace which wasn't very good.
Bars we enjoyed were Molly Malone's, always a great atmosphere, Utopia and the Ark Bar which does lovely cocktails. We had brekkie and lunch in the Sunset Bar just up from the hotel a couple of times, brilliant prices.
Played mini golf which was a good laugh!
We had a lovely holiday and would really recommend the resort, the array of restaurants and bars make for a great night out and the weather was perfect. I would recommend the Alamis to an extent as the room was ok for the amount of time we spent in it, as was the pool. But our cheap last minute deal became quite alot more expensive when the air con, safety deposit box and additional night was added on! A few minor changes and Alamis could really be a gem - a new order of towels, addressing the drainage smell, fixing the showers to the wall and lowering the air con charge and I would go back!!!
