Just got back from Lourdas where we stayed at Antonia Studios.
We booked via Monarch/Cosmos independently rather than part of a package after hearing shocking things about Olympic holidays!
We arrived quite early due to the flights and although our room wasn't quite ready, we got the warmest welcome from the owner, Makis at the pool bar. He really is a very friendly host and gave us a free beer to welcome us while we waited. The hotel had just had 40 Swedish people arrive the night before so they were very busy cleaning the rooms.
As it happened, there was a slight problem with the lock on the room we got, but we needn't have worried as Makis was more than happy to move us to another room straight away, and Barbara helped set another room up very quickly. The owners are really accommodating and are happy to help with absolutely anything!
We had a very large room on the ground floor. Each of the rooms overlooks the pool and although initially I was a little sad that we didn't have one upstairs with a better view (we still had a pretty great view!), we had the last laugh as the room was a lot cooler because of its location in the shade and we could just walk across the grass to the pool!
The room had the following:
twin beds with 1 pillow each
Table and chairs inside
Table and chairs outside
Drying rack outside
Mirror, desk and side tables
Wardrobe with extra blankets
Air conditioning unit (€25 a week)
Kitchen area with kettle, toaster, twin ring hob and sink. Fridge with freezer compartment (great for freezing bottled water)
Plates, cutlery, utensils, cups, glasses tin opener, grater, saucepans, colander, grater, espresso pot are provided.
Shower room with sink, toilet, shower, mirrors and fan.
Bins were emptied every day and toilet rolls replenished too and towels, and bed linen changed mid week. Rooms were basic but as we expected for Greek standards, and very clean and comfortable!
It was fantastic to be able to make our own breakfast and eat on our patio before a little dip in the pool!
Makis puts on fantastic Greek BBQ during the week. The food was lovely and a great price at €10!! There was some great Greek dancing and locals in the village come along too as it's such a great night!
Location wise, Antonia Studios is in the top of the village, very close to Maria's supermarket (lovely friendly lady!) and the Olive Lounge (fab food). You are spoilt for choice with bars and restaurants at the top!
For the beach, we went down the goat track via Kanali beach (wear shoes, not flip flops!) and it takes about 10-15 mins down, 35 back up. We had a car so we drove down the main road a few times to the beach for ease, but the walk is fine if you don't have difficulties.
The pool was great at the hotel too, one of the biggest we had seen and always free sunloungers and umbrellas unlike some packed pools I'd seen! The pool bar is reasonably priced and there are snacks available (toasties, salads etc)
Phew! Hopefully I've covered everything, if you have any questions feel free to ask me! Great hotel, great pool, great views of the sea, great people and great location! We love Lourdas and you'll love it too :)
