“Great place to stay in Lourdas!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2012

Just got back from Lourdas where we stayed at Antonia Studios.

We booked via Monarch/Cosmos independently rather than part of a package after hearing shocking things about Olympic holidays!

We arrived quite early due to the flights and although our room wasn't quite ready, we got the warmest welcome from the owner, Makis at the pool bar. He really is a very friendly host and gave us a free beer to welcome us while we waited. The hotel had just had 40 Swedish people arrive the night before so they were very busy cleaning the rooms.

As it happened, there was a slight problem with the lock on the room we got, but we needn't have worried as Makis was more than happy to move us to another room straight away, and Barbara helped set another room up very quickly. The owners are really accommodating and are happy to help with absolutely anything!

We had a very large room on the ground floor. Each of the rooms overlooks the pool and although initially I was a little sad that we didn't have one upstairs with a better view (we still had a pretty great view!), we had the last laugh as the room was a lot cooler because of its location in the shade and we could just walk across the grass to the pool!

The room had the following:
Towels
twin beds with 1 pillow each
Table and chairs inside
Table and chairs outside
Drying rack outside
Mirror, desk and side tables
Wardrobe with extra blankets
Air conditioning unit (€25 a week)
Kitchen area with kettle, toaster, twin ring hob and sink. Fridge with freezer compartment (great for freezing bottled water)
Plates, cutlery, utensils, cups, glasses tin opener, grater, saucepans, colander, grater, espresso pot are provided.
Shower room with sink, toilet, shower, mirrors and fan.

Bins were emptied every day and toilet rolls replenished too and towels, and bed linen changed mid week. Rooms were basic but as we expected for Greek standards, and very clean and comfortable!

It was fantastic to be able to make our own breakfast and eat on our patio before a little dip in the pool!

Makis puts on fantastic Greek BBQ during the week. The food was lovely and a great price at €10!! There was some great Greek dancing and locals in the village come along too as it's such a great night!

Location wise, Antonia Studios is in the top of the village, very close to Maria's supermarket (lovely friendly lady!) and the Olive Lounge (fab food). You are spoilt for choice with bars and restaurants at the top!

For the beach, we went down the goat track via Kanali beach (wear shoes, not flip flops!) and it takes about 10-15 mins down, 35 back up. We had a car so we drove down the main road a few times to the beach for ease, but the walk is fine if you don't have difficulties.

The pool was great at the hotel too, one of the biggest we had seen and always free sunloungers and umbrellas unlike some packed pools I'd seen! The pool bar is reasonably priced and there are snacks available (toasties, salads etc)

Phew! Hopefully I've covered everything, if you have any questions feel free to ask me! Great hotel, great pool, great views of the sea, great people and great location! We love Lourdas and you'll love it too :)

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms are cooler and have easy access to the pool. You may not need Air con!

I stayed at Antonio a few years ago and had a fantastic time. Clean rooms, good service, excellent location and just an all round pleasurable place to stay.

I just wondered if anyone could tell me where they booked to stay at Antonio as I want to go back? What agency/website should I be looking at?

Cheers

Matt

Great location with shops and restaurants within walking distance. Various downhill routes to different beaches - great exercise on the way back! A few car hire offices very close-by which is great as a car is essential if you want to explore this beautiful island. Rooms are basic but a good size with balcony which has table, chairs and an area for drying clothes All balconies overlook the large pool and garden area which has plants and flowers and plenty of loungers and parasols. The additional benefit of an amazing uninterrupted views over the coastline was great. Makis the owner is very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble We would definitely return to these apartments. Tip - lots of the beaches are pebble or shingle so beach shoes are worth taking. Local shops also sell these. We were there first two weeks in September and the weather was brilliant. Had intermittent rain on one day out of 14!

Room Tip: All rooms overlook the pool area and sea. Top floor has brilliant views of coastline.

If you want to experience the real Greek hospitality you must come in Antonia's Studios! Makis, the owner, is an extraordinary person and will welcome you in a very nice way from the start of your holiday! The apartments are spacious and offer privacy. Sea view on all rooms and air conditioning. Cleaning is not perfect but compared to Greek standards is among the best. Fully equipped kitchenette, small bathroom with the essential. The structure boasts a breathtaking viewis, it's completely immersed in the green and the garden is very nice. The pool is fantastic: big, clean and always open. Sun beds and umbrellas are always available. Near the pool there is a bar where you can also order food takeaways. BBQ with an original greek party every Tuesday where you can dance sirtaki! Here you can hear the sound of sunshine coming down! :)

This is a rahter late review, I went on 6/5/08. I'd never been to greece or any islands surrounding but booked the holiday with my girlfriend without a second thought. Arrived in stunning weather at the apartments and greeted by sue and andy (amazing people) and was then shown to our room which was basic but perfect for the holiday i needed, I'd just like to state that the rooms were very clean so dont listen to anyone who says different! After a quick unpack we were invited down to the bar for drinks and a general chat, This first hour with andy, zoe and sue set the tone for my week, lots of laugh's and relaxation! We walked to the beach most days and even went on a ferry to ithika which was just amazing. I'd recodmend antonia apartments to anyone. I really cant tell people enough how much i love lourdas and the people there. My partner holly was worried that there wouldnt be many resturants or bars in the area but not the case, most nights before our pool bar drinks we dined out and i havent got a single bad thing to say about any of the shops, resturants or bars in the area, they were all brilliant! I'd like to say hi to bryan and viki (Hi! we stayed next door to you!) and say thank you to Andy, sue, zoe and stavos for making this holiday possibly one of the best i've ever had, Hopefully i'll be going back pretty soon and am looking forward to another one of sue's pub quiz's!

We (me and my husband) stayed at Antonia´s for one week in july 2010. Antionia´s is located in Lourdas, a perfect hideaway with breathtaking view! Every “studio” has a balcony so you see the pool, sea and even the island Zakynthos!
The studios has own shower and toilet. In the room there is a mini kitchen with fridge, tea pot, small kitchen equipment etc. We even borrowed more glasses from the poolbar. The rooms/studios do not have tv or telephone, but we did not miss it at all!

If you would like to have AC it cost €4 per day or hire a fan in the supermarket. The cleaning lady came every day to refill toilet paper and change the waste bin (in nearby hotels we heard that they have to buy their own toilet paper!). Ordinary cleaning 2 times a week and then they also change towels and the bed linen.

Makis (one of the owners) and Tereza (bartender), welcomes you with lots of happiness, service and really makes you feel special. They know how to take care of their guests! Don´t forget to book the BBQ night with them!

The pool is big, very clean and there are lots of sunbeads and sun umbrellas to use for free.

Antonia´s don´t have a reception, because the poolbar is the reception! So if you need help, have a question or want to eat a lovely Greeksalad or drink a beer, just walk to the pool bar and Tereza or Makis will help you.

Lourdas is a small village, but have good restaurants (La Mer, Afrodite, Adromeda) and a few supermarkets. We ate dinner at La Mer most of the times, don´t forget to try the Meze for two! To eat breakfast go to Afrodites and you can also surf wireless free there.

We recommend you to hire a car, to see the most of Kefalonia. It is a beautiful isle and you will find very breathtaking beaches (for example Myrtos/Mirtos!). We used CRB company- and they have a office in Lourdas, near the hotel.

The beaches close to Antonia, and Lourdas, is called Kanali Beach, Tzapepaki Beach and Lourdas Beach. To walk to Kanali beach takes about 20-30 min, but to walk from (up) takes about 40-60 min. The other beaches is recommended to go there by car.

We will definitely go back to Kefalonia and Antonias next time!
