“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

Returned from this hotel yesterday and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of going to Ermones. This was our second visit.

We went for two weeks and for anyone doing the same I would recommend hiring a car, as we did. There are some super beaches on Corfu and with a car they are easy to get to. The beach by the hotel is not great and can be a but smelly but just walk around the path and the sea is clear and beautiful: you can dive in from the rocks.

Go all inclusive to this hotel as drinks are expensive as they are all over the island.

I would disagree with one reviewer who said that he waited ages for service as he was all inclusive; we were served quickly and politely. Are the drinks watered down? Possibly, but drunks are never nice to be around.

The staff in the dining room were fantastic, almost as good as the 5* buffet. Reception staff helpful and charming. I cannot think of one member of staff who was not excellent.

The resident singers were exceptional - in fact better than all the other acts brought in.

The spa is very, very expensive and they need to bring prices down to get people in there.

The gym has no air conditioning.

Possibly would not go again, but only because we have been twice now. Although I would go to the same group of hotel as this one was hard to beat for service, food and staff.

Is this 5*? I would say 4.5*. Just misses out due to gym facilities, the upkeep of the flower beds and uncomfortable sunbeds.

We are waiting to board our plane home after a wonderful week at the Grand Med in Ermones. Would definitely recommend it as somewhere to come for a real break and might even try a return trip later this season.

The Thomson rep was very friendly and was always encouraging those who were enthusiastic enough to join in with various activities, but left you alone if you wanted to do your own thing.

The hotel itself is clean and the food and drink selection (on the all inclusive package) was excellent. In particular the waiting staff were fabulous and on hand to assist wherever possible. Special mention to Pavlos who entertained us whilst directing us to a table each mealtime.

As a couple who tend to avoid evening entertainment, the Buendias (the resident duo) were an unexpected delight. They play a wide variety of songs from many genres and their request night has to be seen to be believed! Very talented, we ended up planning our meals around when they were playing so we didn't miss any of their sets.

The rooms were kept spotlessly clean, but it is worth mentioning that the hotel location (which is stunning -go for the sea view option!) does mean that access to the main building is via either a lot of steps or the funicular railway car, which can be slow or a walk up the hotel driveway. If you ring reception they will also send a car to collect you, this felt a little lazy... We saw it as an excuse to eat more Greek sweets at dinner.

Room Tip: If you have limited mobility request a room in the main building. Also the sea view is worth paying...

I was wondering what this hotel was going to be like having read some reviews before we went but we were really pleased and it was better than we expected.

The hotel really is great with really good facilities and excellent service.

Unfortunately the bay and the beach were having a bit of trouble while we were there with seaweed but on days when the sea was calm, it was crystal clear and you could happily swim. They were also trying to clean it while we were there with diggers and pick ups etc which I guess wasn't ideal but at the end of the day, they were trying to sort it.

Unless you're a seriously early riser or set your alarm, you can't get a sunbed by the pool as everyone reserves them with towels. This is a bit frustrating but down to individuals ignoring the 'rules' rather than a fault of the hotel. On our last day we had an early breakfast and you could see people getting up purposely to put their towels out and then presumably heading back to bed - each to their own... We happily went to the beach or back up to the pool in the afternoon rather than getting involved in all that.

The drink selection in the all inclusive package is very good. Loads of choice and great quality drinks. The mojitos were particularly good, made properly from scratch.

The food in the buffet restaurant was great - lots of choice, really good quality with some chefs cooking some of the dishes in front of you. We didn't visit the beach restaurant as the buffet was so good and had more choice.

The service throughout the hotel was excellent and the team are really helpful and attentive.

The room was really nice. Contemporary deco and clean.

The gym was ok - extremely hot so takes working out to another level...!

A few reviews mention the lift and distance from rooms to the main hotel but it's built on the cliffside so you can see it's probably not the ideal place if you have mobility issues.

As a 5* hotel, it seems unfortunately some try to find faults rather than just enjoying it. It really is a great location for a relaxing holiday perfect for spoiling yourself.

Just returned from a two week holiday, AI. Stayed in a suite with private pool, and it was well worth the upgrade. First class hotel. Excellent food, with great selection. So lovely to sit outside for every meal.....not much of that in the UK! Very attentive, well trained staff. Special mention to the lovely hostess Maria, and host Pavlous. He really worked hard, great character. Rooms very clean. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Email hotel for a room near to reception.

Just returned from holiday at Grand Mediterraneo Resort and have had a great holiday.Despite previous reviews the beach was good and the sea was perfect swimming conditions. In terms of the hotel the rooms are excellent spacious clean and a sizeable balcony. The food quality was very good however I feel the policy on long trousers for men at evening meal was unnecessary and dated. I am totally fine in insisting a smart dress code however the solitary rule of long pants, only resulted in men not being able to wear tailored smart shorts and shirt but it wa ok for men to wear jeans and trainers or in the case of the ladies whatever they like which seems to me old fashioned. In terms of location it lacked in options outside of the hotel complex though to be fair we were aware of this prior to travelling it was just the price of hotel drinks when in half board that resulted in the need. This was our first time with Thomsons and I have to say I was very impressed with the service received by the rep at the hotel who was approachable ever present and very informative.

Me and my girlfriend have just got back from spending a week at this hotel. And we can't understand what so many people are moaning about! We have been on a few holidays together and this was the best yet! Our room was clean and tidy every day and we had a stunning sea view! Our room was a slight walk to the pool and restaurant but it didn't bother us, If you didn't want to walk then you can always ring reception and they will send someone to pick you up within minutes. We couldn't fault the food in the restaurant and there was always lots of choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner, my girlfriend has a nut allergy which can be a problem for dessert, but the Sue chef went to the effort of making her something especially on a few occasions which was a nice touch. The pool area was always clean and there were plenty of sunbeds to choose from with spectacular views all round. A member of the restaurant staff went out of his way to take photos of us in the day from various view points which was very thoughtful. The evening entertainment was different each night and was of a good quality which makes a nice change to some other hotels. The staff at this hotel work extremely hard and seem to be there all day everyday, they really don't get the respect and recognition they deserve. . The level of service was brilliant!! Definitely a 5 Star Resort.

Room Tip: It is worth paying for a room with a sea view so you can enjoy the Views, Pay the extra for all incl...
