“Great Food, Great Accomodations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2009

My wife and I decided on Sakinaw Lake Lodge based on other TripAdvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. It is truly a great place to just go and unwind. We were also lucky to get great weather. Liza and Garret are great hosts, very customer service oriented. We had two great breakfasts, an enjoyable boat trip and hike to view the area, and a relaxing stay. Definitely the place to go if you just want a nice weekend away from it all.

Just go. The owners have achieved the perfect balance of natural beauty and modern comfort in their renovation of the lodge. It's location could not be more wonderful. It's quite private and I felt that we were in our own stunning little world. The lake itself was warm and so clean. Donna, Liza, and Garret were wonderful in every way and made our girl getaway exactly what we wanted it to be. Again, just go.

My best friend had her wedding here, small wedding of about 15 people and we all stayed at the lodge, had the ceremony on the dock and everything. We had such a great time and it was made even more memorable by the great location, felicities and hosts!!

I am head over heels about the Sakinaw Lake Lodge. This is by far the best B&B we have gone to. There are no words to describe how beautiful this place is. We stayed in the Cedar Suite and it was absolutely stunning. The view of the lake from our room was breathtaking. Our suite was gorgeous...the furnishings, the hardwood floors, the wood burning fireplace, the flatscreen tv (with HD satellite), the kitchen with the hanging pots and everything you need, the clawfoot tub and standing shower, the private balcony...I could go on forever...simply sensational. Garrett, Liza and Donna are the friendliest hosts you will ever have. So laid back, so hospitable, so kind. If you are looking for the perfect getaway, do yourself a favor and go here. You will return rejuvenated, happier, and at peace. The breakfast is delicious, the lake is warm, the setting indescribable. We can't wait to go back. Simply, the best.

...unless you're looking for great laid-back hosts and warm water in a beautiful setting. We loved the floating dock, the readily available canoe, and waking up and jumping off the diving board right outside the door. Couldn't imagine a better place to spend a hot summer day. Be sure to take the boat tour down to the ocean and hike up the bluff (5-10 min) to take in the spectacular view. And there's something about the boat access only that makes it feel special. The water is the warmest i've ever swam in in BC. Oh and the food is amazing on top of it all... Thanks Liza and Gareth!

My husband and I, along with my two young boys, really enjoyed our stay at the Sakinaw Lake Lodge. Originally my family planned to find a cabin to rent on a lake but due to unavailability we decided to try this B&B. It was actually better as a B&B than a cabin rental.... Waking up to delicious breakfasts with amazing presentation was a very nice treat (one that we looked forward to each day). The owners went the extra length to ensure our trip was enjoyable and did little extras that made it truly great. We couldn't believe it when they even made themselves available to check on our sleeping baby every few minutes as we took our 5 year old for a canoe ride. This was something that we would have never expected and something that they didn't have to do but they really just wanted us to have a good stay. While they were there to make sure we enjoyed our stay it felt as if we were the only ones at the lodge and we felt very comfortable.
The property was amazing.... The lodge was plunked right on the waters edge, creating the feeling that you were floating on the water. The lake was so warm we even swam when it rained. They had canoes /kayaks/paddle boats available for us to use which made it a lot of fun.
The suite was beautiful and extremely well kept, from the welcoming smells when we first entered to the gorgeous linens and the special treat of hummingbirds out the kitchen window (it was so neat, about 7 or 8 were floating around the feeder). "Meticulously clean with attention to detail."
While the lodge is typically adult orientated we appreciated the special exception they made for us by allowing us to bring our boys. I definitely recommend it for a couples getaway and next time we will come without the kids. The setting is just so amazing it would be nice to just sit back and enjoy the panoramic lake view. The boys did, however, enjoy it just the same. Highly recommended...

What a fabulous discovery! We're hesitant to let others in on the secret. The owners are an absolute delight and make the experience memorable. Comfortable, casual, hospitable - you feel like you are staying with friends. The website does need more photos to show how incredibly stunning the setting is. There are multiple decks, both on and overlooking the lake. The terraced outdoor decking provides plenty of room for private space for guests, although connecting with others is also quite possible. Outdoor spaces also include a hot tub and a fire pit - all with those magnificent views and the evening call of the loons. Although Sakinaw Lake Lodge has boat-only access, the hosts are quick to transport guests as needed and the crossing in their new deluxe pontoon boat takes mere minutes. Don't let this put you off - if anything, it adds to the solitude and the charm. The two lower bedrooms, opening directly onto the dock, are quite cozy. Stunning views and gas fireplaces add to the ambience. The common tiny bathroom between these two rooms is perhaps best shared by friends or family. The hosts couldn't be more solicitous - as I was out reading one evening on the dock, reluctant to move inside, Liza arrived with a blanket. These caring touches make the difference. We'll be back to rent the whole lodge with friends.
