Me and my partner spent a week in September 2007 at the My Meric Hotel in Turunc.
We arrived at the Hotel after a 4 hour transfer from the Airport. We was under the impression this was only a 2 hour transfer, (but only if direct, which ours wasnt!)
The hotel itself was lovely, but very basic.
Niether of us was in a good mood as we had been travelling for so long, but the room however, made up for it, as it turned out to be quite nice.
The only complaint about the room I would have is there was no plug in the Bath, which meant having to call Reception (baring in mind they speak little English!) and try to explain what a plug was!
Another thing was the hot water, which didn't come on between the hours of 5 and 7, so you're lucky if it was hot!
The swimming pool was on a roof terrace on a section of the hotel.
The hotel was fairly busy, and with the pool being quite small, it was slightly dissapointing. You would always struggle to find a sunlounger, as everyone seemed quite cramped together.
There was a bar on the terrace which made up for it.
The food however was diabolical. If you can live off salad for your whole vacation, then you might just be alright. (The salad seemed very much re-used, so we always slightly reluctant to what we ate)
The food, which was meant to be hot, wasn't, and there was very little of it, and the cooked food would of been re-heated from lunch, (or the day before).
Because of this, we chose to eat out every day, which wasn't a problem for us, because the food outside of the hotel, was very cheap, and delicious!
We found a gorgeous Restaurant, which was recommended by another couple. (Turn right out of the hotel, and at the bottom of the road it will be on your right, oppoosite the police training station!) The food there was gorgeous, and you were treated really well, so it's definately a must!!
The beach, which was about a 2 minute walk was quite nice, however stoney and gritty. If you're looking for a carribean beach with white sand, then you can catch a boat over to Marmaris which costs around a fiver for a return. The beach there is gorgeous, however avoid going to the market area as you cant walk into a shop without being hassled.
I ended up buying after-shave I really didn't want!
We went on quite a few trips, our favourite one was one we did on the last day sadly, (as we would of done it again!)
A boat is waiting at Turunch bay, (about 2 minutes from the hotel), and whisks you off around 5 different bays, which you stop off at for at least half an hour or more to do whatever you please. It was really lovely, and the boat was comfortable. (I got a gorgeous tan doing this!) You get lunch on the boat aswell.
I think it was around £25 but you might need to check if your thinking of doing it!
Overall, the holiday was good, because of how we made it. The hotel certainly wasn't the best, but it's not as bad as some people make out.
The area is absolutely gorgeous, but if your after nightlife then it's not really the place to go. If you want somewhere to relax, and thats quiet, then your in luck!
We'll definately be returning to Turunc.
