Just got back had a lovely time, the staff are very helpful in My Meric Hotel.
There was a few problems with the lift not working for the first 4 days of our week stay, and people getting stuck in the other lift.
The water running down the stairs with poor lighting so I felt i needed a torch.
The food i would say was ok nothing to get excited about as it was the same every day and morning.
Turunc is a very nice no great night life but if it had it would then be spoilt as i loved the area.
Great place for a peaceful holiday.
Transfers from the airport takes a long time and i was took to the airport 4 hours early than was needed when coming back.
My Meric
It just needs good management skills to lead the staff into making the hotel a place where people would come back time and time again.

My meric is a great hotel, great value for money.
it has its good points and bad points like any holiday!!
good points - the pool is ice cold, i swear they put ice cubes in it over night, but this is great as it was boiling when we went, an it didnt half cool you down, the views from the rooms and the pool are to die for, you couldnt ask for better! the rooms are clean and big, nice balconys! the beach is about 2 minutes away and the water is sooo clear, lovely to swim in, a clean nice beach. the bars and restuarants around are fab, really cheap, food in the bars are great! there are good shows on bout 3 times a week! the excursions are great, there is a great little tour place, owned by an english woman an turkish man, which has great prices, the boat trips are good, good sun for the day, and you can get off and swim a few times, also the turkish nights are fab!!!
Bad points
the staff arnt wonderfully friendly, if your nice to them, they are nice back, however my boyfriend had minor disagreements with them in the pool bar over, how many drinks you can get at once, as the all inclusive bar closes around 11 at night!! but the drinks are cheap in the bars around so its no big deal,
the food was not great, alot of salad, which i dont really like, and there are many germans, who i have no problem with but they are rather unsociable and rude! push in front and give funny looks! complain rather alot aswell! the food cant be that bad however, because i managed to eat it and im fussy lol! there is a lovely chippy over the road! The drinks are served in the smallest cups ever lol! well the alcholic ones are! the trip from the airport is about 4 hours, but its not that bad if you can sleep. the drivers are crazy take some of those mountain bends at a speed overtaking people lol, not for the faint hearted, bit of a white knuckle ride lol!
i would definately go back however. it was a really nice place, an turunc (turush its pronounced and my merich) is such a lovely place!! OVERALL A GREAT PLACE!

“Not a 4*, but still nice”

My Meric Hotel

Jan 16, 2008

Me and my partner spent a week in September 2007 at the My Meric Hotel in Turunc.

We arrived at the Hotel after a 4 hour transfer from the Airport. We was under the impression this was only a 2 hour transfer, (but only if direct, which ours wasnt!)

The hotel itself was lovely, but very basic.

Niether of us was in a good mood as we had been travelling for so long, but the room however, made up for it, as it turned out to be quite nice.
The only complaint about the room I would have is there was no plug in the Bath, which meant having to call Reception (baring in mind they speak little English!) and try to explain what a plug was!
Another thing was the hot water, which didn't come on between the hours of 5 and 7, so you're lucky if it was hot!

The swimming pool was on a roof terrace on a section of the hotel.
The hotel was fairly busy, and with the pool being quite small, it was slightly dissapointing. You would always struggle to find a sunlounger, as everyone seemed quite cramped together.
There was a bar on the terrace which made up for it.

The food however was diabolical. If you can live off salad for your whole vacation, then you might just be alright. (The salad seemed very much re-used, so we always slightly reluctant to what we ate)
The food, which was meant to be hot, wasn't, and there was very little of it, and the cooked food would of been re-heated from lunch, (or the day before).

Because of this, we chose to eat out every day, which wasn't a problem for us, because the food outside of the hotel, was very cheap, and delicious!

We found a gorgeous Restaurant, which was recommended by another couple. (Turn right out of the hotel, and at the bottom of the road it will be on your right, oppoosite the police training station!) The food there was gorgeous, and you were treated really well, so it's definately a must!!

The beach, which was about a 2 minute walk was quite nice, however stoney and gritty. If you're looking for a carribean beach with white sand, then you can catch a boat over to Marmaris which costs around a fiver for a return. The beach there is gorgeous, however avoid going to the market area as you cant walk into a shop without being hassled.
I ended up buying after-shave I really didn't want!

We went on quite a few trips, our favourite one was one we did on the last day sadly, (as we would of done it again!)
A boat is waiting at Turunch bay, (about 2 minutes from the hotel), and whisks you off around 5 different bays, which you stop off at for at least half an hour or more to do whatever you please. It was really lovely, and the boat was comfortable. (I got a gorgeous tan doing this!) You get lunch on the boat aswell.
I think it was around £25 but you might need to check if your thinking of doing it!

Overall, the holiday was good, because of how we made it. The hotel certainly wasn't the best, but it's not as bad as some people make out.
The area is absolutely gorgeous, but if your after nightlife then it's not really the place to go. If you want somewhere to relax, and thats quiet, then your in luck!

We'll definately be returning to Turunc.

“A lovely relaxing holiday.”

After reading some of the review s on trip advisor i was expecting nothing special and maybe a few problems. But now i am back home and only after a week staying in My Meric hotel i miss it already and only wish i had booked for another week.
The journey was very tiring with a 3 1/2 hr flight and 3 hr transfer (i would reccomend a taxi instead) but every bit worth it. Turunc is very beautiful and peacful, if you wanted to relax this is the holiday for you.
The hotel was lovely. Our room was huge with a large bathroom and plenty of cupboard space. It is clean with top quality flooring and decor. All balconys face towards the sea and mountains. The shower was not very warm or powerful but it did the trick. When ever i go to a different country i always try the local food. This is why i never expect an all inclusive hotel to supply british food. The food was fantastic with a wide range of choice. The staff were amazing. Very few know alot of english but always made a effort to try and communcate. The best member of staff was Icsmile (aka 'smile') the pool barman. Everyday he would make the effort to speak to everyone and was always smiling (even tho it was ramadan).
The beach is picturesque, clean and only a few mins walk. There is also a little harbour where you can book boat excersions or ride the water taxi to Marmeris or Ichmeler . We went on a boat trip called the 5 bay blue cruse which i highly recommend. we were taken to 5 bay to swim in the warm sea and a BBQ for only £10pp for a day trip including the food .
Overall this is a very enjoyable holiday and i will be going back as soon as i can.

“Absolutley no complaints”

My Meric Hotel

Oct 13, 2007

We booked this holiday last minute and with a bit of trepedation after reading some of the reviews on here.
The transfer from the airport is long and tiring, especially after a night flight. Yes, you do have to traverse a mountain, but the roads and journey is nowhere near as hairy as some on here are making out.
Arrived at the hotel at about 8am and was stunned by the view from our balcony....all balconies have the same view.....calling it beautiful wouldnt do it justice....breathtaking. The room cannot be faulted, large beds...hard matress..but i like that. Plenty of storage, Huge wardrobes..immaculate tiled floors throughout..
We went straight to breakfast and it cant be faulted...good choice of cold meats, eggs, both bolied, fried and poached. Great selection of teas and coffees. If you expect a full english every morning...i suggest you go to Blackpool, or Spain. Cant believe people complain about lack of English style food.....words fail me...you are in Turkey!!!!!!!!!!
The standard of food is good through lunch and dinner...always a good choice, chips are pretty much always on offer for those of you who just cant live without them. Lots of bread, salads, fish, chicken, stews and the soups are suberb. Desserts leave alot to be desired, but desserts arent as big a deal in Turkey as they are in the UK, so thats understandable.
Afternoon tea at the pool bar is a nice touch...a large selection of cakes chips are placed on the bar.
Drinks...always available and a good selection. No complaints.
The staff at this hotel made the holiday....majority were wonderful...the guy at the restuarant bar was a bit grumpy.
You will no doubt meet 'Smile' at the pool bar....this guy made the holiday and hotel for me. A wonderful wonderful human being who made the effort to get to know EVERYONE around the pool, EVERYDAY. He intercated with everyone, always laughing, joking and messing around. He got thrown in the pool on the final day and took it all so well. The man is a legend.
The town of Turunc is perfect. Small, pretty and welcoming. If you after a lively resort this wont be for you. But if you are happier with a slower pace, then this is just for you. There are bars, plenty of them, but you get the feeling everything is done just a bt slower here than say, Marmaris. I couldnt fault it.
I will return to Turunc, for sure, and I will definately stay at My Meric...it really is that good.
Oh, i better have one moan....the shower, not too hot, and not too powerful....but really when you have views like the picture i have posted..............who the hell cares.
